This place has a good variety of Vietnamese food. They have several lunch specials for reasonable prices. The service was good and the restaurant was clean. I ordered a Vietnamese salad with sweet and sour pork. It was pretty good. I recommend giving this place a try.

I had the Vegetarian Phở and spring rolls… both were fantastic. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone who likes Vietnamese food! The waiters were responsive, polite, and genuinely interested in my dining experience. Very good there too. The kitchen was clean as well. Loved it…

Being from Vegas, I guess we’re spoiled with a variety of Asian places to choose from. Decided to check out this place while in UT and was disappointed. The waitress was nice and so was the inside of the restaurant; however, the«vietnamese» food, was salty and the meat quality was subpar. Who has banh mi on the menu but doesn’t offer a dat biet one(traditional one offered at all the Viet places). Also we got the lemongrass beef that had an interesting texture and served the smallest bowl of rice. Not coming back.

The food is great and the service is fast! The honey grilled pork banh mi with a hot and sour soup is one of my favorite lunches around.

I previously would have given this location a 4 stars, but after tonight’s experience, I can only give it a one star. I have been eating at Café Trang since the 1990’s– at the old location on 9th s I think and then the one at Cottonwood mall. I am a loyal customer. Tonight I found a hair in my Malaysian Rice Noodles with yellow curry. It was not my hair. I have long, curly medium colored hair and this was short, straight and dark. It was gross. I was about halfway done with my dish. My server apologized and took away the dish. He gave us our check. I was expecting either a partial compensation or another plate of food(a half size portion would have been great, since that was what was left), but he did neither. I then told who I guess is the manager as we were leaving, telling him that it was hard to want to remain a customer when nothing was done about hair in the food. He said ok and we walked out the door. i can tell you that even though I previously at at this location monthly, I won’t be there again, and have tried to contact management about this but have received no response. However I did talk to the manager of the downtown Café Trang, who was very gracious and let me know that they are not the same owners.

There was plain ol mayo on my bahn mi sandwich. I am confused and horrified by this. I took the order to go so could not swap it out. Never again — fool me once…

Decided to stop by for a late lunch early dinner. The Resturant staff were very nice and happy. I had the Trang-s Pad Thai and the Saigon Wings. The wings were super amazing and cooked with garlic and sesame seeds. They were crispy and so tasty with sweet chili sauce. The Pad Thai was ok. It was a jumbled mess with lots of chicken and julienned veggies. It’s own sauce was bland but the sweet chili sauce came to the rescue and made it all better. Overall a pleasant time and I will be back.

Haven’t eaten here in years and was craving something different and decided to stop in. I am so happy that I did. They have started offering a Vietnamese sandwich with a variety of different meats(vegi as well) I had the pork and I must say, is the best that I have ever had. The service was spot on, and the manager made a point to visit the table. I highly recommend this place if you haven’t been here in a while, you should check it out

I have a love/less love relationship with this place. Typically I go to the one in Draper, and though I never dislike what I order, I rarely leave satisfied. I think this is mostly because the dishes, while typically good, are mostly over priced. That being said, I hadn’t been here in a while, or to this location, so I decided to stop in before a show. I ordered the chicken lettuce cups off the appetizers and the Thai Beef Vermicelli noodle. Let’s start with the lettuce cups… Dear sweet mother of Diabetes … Usually, a lettuce cup comes with savory minced chicken and sometimes veggies that you can choose to cover in super sweet sauce. While their lettuce wraps did come with a side of sweet sauce, the chicken itself was already dripping in something so sweet it made me teeth hurt a little. I could only eat a couple spoonfuls before I needed an insulin shot. The Thai Beef Vermicelli was pretty standard, and fairly tasty. The meat was good, and I felt like it had a decent noodle to everything else ratio. Considering what you are paying per dish here, I think that there might be better options. That being said, they do have a HUGE menu, probably one the biggest I have seen, so the chances of finding something you like is probably pretty high. If you are worried about sugar content, you might want to ask the server about each dish before you order.

I’ve been to other Café Trang locations, just not this one. I didn’t eat in, but from the brief time I was there, it seemed like a clean place, not to classy, but if you’re there for strictly food, I’d say it’s of a higher scale than the typical Asian cuisine fare your get around the valley. Their spring rolls are huge and can probably be shared 1 roll to two people if it’s an appetizer. I love their curry, all good stuff. And the women who took my order over the phone were kind. I guess I recommend it if you’re in the area and searching for Chinese food. I wouldn’t necessarily go out of the way for it either though.

Let me first lay down the positives of this place before anything else. It was a 50⁄50 over all experience at this joint. The service was excellent. Our waitress was very kind and patient and gave good suggestions on entrees. The restaurant is completely immaculate and had nice ambience. And the food came out fast. I personally did not like what I ordered at all and it was mostly inedible. I had the sweet and sour pork with egg flower soup and fried rice. The fried rice tasted to me like ground up old people and the sweet and sour sauce was not good. My husband got Carmel Pork(a recommendation by the server — I should’ve ordered something she liked damn it!) and he loved it. He said the meat was well cooked and that there weren’t any little yucky chewy bits. He rated HIS food/experience as a 4. Mine was a 2 because of the food. I’m gonna average that out at a 3 and call it even. We will be back and I will order the Carmel Pork next time with steamed rice like he did. Then he can finally have enough food since the portion he got wasn’t enough for him.

stopped in for a lunch and wasn’t sure what to expect, atmosphere, décor and staff here are very nice. I ordered off the lunch special menu received my meal pretty fast as the restaurant was not busy, very disappointed with my portion size for the price, flavor was okay definitely not anything I shall return here for!

Coming from a city with banh mi only runs from only $ 2.50 to $ 3 max. $ 7 for a banh mi seems a bit of a rip off here. $ 10 phở and regular entrees up in the teens. This place is definitely on the higher side. Food was okay nothing special and didn’t taste fresh. The atmosphere was neat but the booths were quite dirty. Service was quite slow. Not my favorite place to go to that’s for sure.

The place is real pretty compare to most Vietnamese restaurant here in the area. Nice place to go on a date. However, maybe because I’m more into authentic Vietnamese food than fusion, I didn’t like the food that much, it’s a bit sweet for my taste. Once again, I like the restaurant decorations and atmosphere over their food.

I’ll say it as many times as you’ll allow, you must try the House Special Rice Noodle. It’s an incredible dish with book-paged sized noodles on the bottom that are seared to a burn. These are covered in a brown sauce, then the meat of your choice and a pile of vegetables. I either get that or the Phở Hanoi.

There is nothing worse than spending $ 50 on a meal and then leaving feeling like it was a complete waste of money. My husband and I had been planning to visit this new Café Trang location for a while, as we had frequently gone to the downtown location and really enjoyed it. We started with the potstickers as an appetizer. They were overcooked and the pork stuffing inside was mushy and relatively flavorless. We weren’t that disheartened because, hey, it was an appetizer and we still had our whole meal to look forward to. For some reason, I was really craving sweet and sour chicken, which is normally not something I would get. So, I ordered the dish expecting to get a more grown up version. What I got was a dish typical of the stuff you’d find in a crappy Chinese take-out joint. The batter was too thick, greasy, and absolutely drenched in sauce which made it soggy. It was completely unappetizing. My husband ordered the Shaking beef cubes — a $ 16 meal. When it came, I swiped one of the cubes off his plate because it looked pretty good. I put it in my mouth and was completely unable to chew it because it was so raw. I mean completely pink, still mooing raw. Most of the cubes ended up being inedible. The sauce was good though; I ended up just eating the white rice with that sauce drizzled over it. Our waitress was nice enough, the place has good atmosphere, and the manager said hello to us, but we were both completely disappointed in the food and will probably never go back. It’s pretty sad when our two Cokes were the best thing at the table.

Café Trang appears to be going through early-adolescent growing pains. I know there is a Café Trang downtown and has been for years. But this new location is just that… new! And it shows. Our waiter seemed very new to the whole waiting tables thing. He was very friendly, as was the guy who greeted us, but he was very green and not very well-versed in his chosen(current) profession. I ordered something from the menu, but he didn’t know what I was talking about so I had to SHOW him. Then I had to tell him twice that I wanted the PORK chow mein(there were three choices). Then he came back to our table to ask me «what kind of meat would you like?» so I told him«pork» for the third time. Not a huge deal, but a little annoying for a place that charges $ 10-$ 15 per person. Then we waited forever to get our check. Then we again waited forever for him to come and take the money. Eventually, we just dug up enough cash to leave on the table so we could get out of there. Again, not a huge problem, but just an annoyance that needs to be ironed out asap. The food… the food was fantastic! We ordered four different dishes(General Tao’s, Grilled green beans, pork chow mein and fisherman’s soup). All were tasty and fresh with great depth of flavor. The dishes were presented artfully and each had a uniqueness when compared to the run of the mill Chinese food joints in SLC. Yum Yum YUM! We will certainly go back to Café Trang. I just hope the service is a little more dialed-in next time.
