Always good to have an impromptu lunch with a friend. I wanted Mexican. So Camino Real was our choice. This restaurant location is close to both of us. I ordered the taco salad special and my friend had the chicken fajitas minus most of the veggies LOL. The food was good but the service definitely leaves something to be desired. Our waitress was impatient and less than attentive. The company was entertaining as always, the food passable and the service lacking. I have ordered take out from here before and have been satisfied. I guess I will stick to takeout for this place.

Stopped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. I rate mexican restaurants on three things: salsa, guacamole and nose runnage. The salsa was excellent. Not watery and had a good twang. The guac was beautiful and not just a plain green glob. And everything had just enough heat to make the ol factory glands run a bit. The chimichanga supreme was very good.

I have been a regular customer here for several years. My favorite menu items are the shrimp sautée and the chicken chimichanga. The pork taco and the beef taco are also good. Great neighborhood place for families. Service is super fast. They recently repainted their murals, and it’s looking pretty spiffy!

Been enjoying Camino Real for years now. By far the best salsa in Murfreesboro! The fajitas are always great and you can’t go wrong with the chimichangas. The chimichangas supremas are one of favorites. The portions are good, but if you’re REALLY hungry, try the Special Dinner. It’s practicality impossible to eat that and leave hungry. Prices are very reasonable, too. A lot of food for the money, so it’s a great place to take the family.

Good food and nice service by the waiter. The host, on the other hand, was very rude and unpleasant. I’ll probably avoid this Camino for a while and go to one of the others. There’s too many other Mexican restaurants in this city to go to where they actually seem happy when you arrive.

I came here with no real expectations and I was astounded by the portion sizes to say the least! As you can see from my burrito, they give you a colossal amount of food and don’t short you in meat either. My friends got fajitas and also got large portions. It’s wonderful to see that this restaurant is going above and beyond even in such a declining economy. The service was spot on. I actually didn’t order right away and came late but our waitress(don’t remember our name) was very attentive and checked over periodically if I was wanting to order. I can’t speak for the rest of the staff, but if they’re anything close to the service we had, I’d say this restaurant is definitely the complete package. In summary, great Mexican food, great portions, and great service. Put it on your list!

All right stop… Collaborate and listen… Chet is back with my brand new addition… Something, grabs a hold of me tightly… But its not the guacamole. Vanilla Ice lyrics aside, this place challenged me as a former Unilocal Elite and customer in general. While in the ‘Boro, we Unilocaled and also after remembering Steve E’s recent check in, decided to see what the heck is up with this place. The reviews are all over the place… this in my experience on Unilocal is never good… it never leans to the good side… NEVER. We walk in, and the hostess looked at us then down and just said«three???»…as in our party count. Not a hello… or welcome… just our mass in the universe. We get sat… all the way in the back by the service area… because we have a child… and noticed all others with spawn also get sat in the far corner of the joint… because we are lower humans than those without child(ren)…funny — as those from the southern half of North America are known for having lots of kids. I digress. I asked if they hand made their guacamole, as they also have a Guac Casera with all the fixins… our server said yes but that’s it. When it came out, it was your standard US Food service guacamole… there is no way they whip that guac like that in-house…that’s horrible… and it tasted the same — like grass paste and salt. No tomatoes, no onions no lime… AAHHHHHH. Our 6 foot 4 inch server/sentry that stood over my table watching me eat through my entire meal made me rather uncomfortable, and I discussed it openly and within earshot hopefully to get the point across. Didn’t work. He stared harder. My wife asked if they had a hot salsa… our sentry… err…server, left without speaking and returned to literally plop the ramekin of salsa on our table and never once… not once did he ask how our meal or anything was. Just the worst experience someone could ask for. I regularly say you really cant mess up Mexican food… so long as you do it right… the food really is bad. I did not have one good thing in my Camino Real especial dinner, which gives you a taco, tamale, tostada(which they like to call chalupa here in gringo land) and beans and what not. All… flavorless. Every bit of it. Beans are watery, and meat has no seasoning. Literally its ground beef, chopped with a spatula and cooked… maybe even steamed… uggghgh. Probably U.S. Food Service. Looking at recent reviews I fail to see how this place is rated so well… I also cannot fathom why this place has an hour wait on Friday and Saturday nights. The population here must not care, or maybe do not realize that a much better, albeit newer Mexican place is right across the way…(Dos Rancheros)…mucho better. Again, I cannot see how this place would stay in business with the quality of its food and rude, disconnected staff. But, with an hour wait on the weekends, apparently that’s all they need. Never again… never I say. Yo, man, let’s get out of here! Word to your mother!(Sorry…had to do it.) (Better choices: Dos Rancheros nearby, or travel a bit and hit Smyrna/Nashville/Mt Juliet for Mi Tierra, or Chuys or Los Compadres… but not this place… have some self respect.)

Worst service I’ve seen in ages. Waiter didn’t come back at all to see if we needed anything. Some water would have been nice with those alcoholic beverages and We found a PUBIC hair in the salsa. Never going back. BEWAREOFTHEPUBICHAIR.

Wow. Really impressed. The service is great and the food is way above par compared to the common Tex-Mex fair.

Camimo Real is, hands down, my favorite Mexican restaurant! The food is inexpensive and delicious. The staff is very friendly and the service is great. Recommendations: Cheese dip, alambres, chimichangas supremas, and fajitas.

Camino is THE Mexican restaurant that others are compared to in Murfreesboro. They have exactly what you’d expect with fast service and cheap beer. Always a hit on Friday night.

This used to be my favorite college place. Love the food. This is a tie between this place and Las Palmas. I so would recommend this place. Great food and service.

Um. Whoa. Just got home and I’m eating leftovers. Didn’t go with high expectations, but I thought it would be edible. Husband ordered a beer, got sangria. Tortilla soup was water with chicken floating in it. Made everyone at the table try it to see how bad it was. Ceviche was not prepared. Fish was still raw. They admitted it, took it away and said it would be a long time before it was«ready.» I’m disappointed since I pictured myself sitting on that patio come summer. But as my husband said when we got in the car, «I feel like I just took a $ 50 and lit it on fire.»

Favorite spot for Mexican food! The guacamole casero is amazing! This spot is amazingly consistent. The food and service are always right on target. :) I swear, these guys know me by name! I have tried almost every thing on the menu, and it is all good. Yes, it is covered with white cheese and yes I am sure this will offend some. But really? Normally for a quick lunch I grab two grilled chicken tacos and the a fore mentioned guacamole. Delish! If you haven’t tried this place give it a go. You wont be disappointed.

What can you say? It’s the best Mexican in Murfreesboro, and maybe the whole of Middle Tennessee! Ok ok… It’s a bit Ameri-Mexican. Yeah, they put lots of cheese on stuff, and it’s not traditional Mexican food. But You know what? I had just spent the last week in Mexico. Eating«Traditional food». That food sucks. Apparently«Salt» is a rare commodity in Mexico. Thankfully«Flavor» is in no shortage here at Camino Real! I am a bit sentimental about Camino as well. I can remember them first opening on Broad St. many many years ago. They announced their opening by walking the streets of Main St. handing out chips and menus during the June festival. It’s been a staple in my diet ever since! OK, so in full disclosure, I know the food isn’t going to win any culinary awards. But neither is your palate. So don’t go gettin all righteous on me and my love for Camino. I’m not coming here for authentic Mexican food. I’m coming here for authentic Camino Real food, GREAT service, Excellent value, and some find memories.
