CLOSED :( Man, they closed my backup location after axing my BG spot only a few months ago. I wonder which location they plan on closing next.

Went with a group of ten friends. Service was outstanding. Variety & quantity of food excellent. First time there for eight of us but we all agree that we will all be back. No complaints regarding pricing/great value.

Loves the chips and salsa Tasty drinks Great food On a Saturday evening we were seated fast and food came out quick. We wanted to sit on the patio but it wasn’t open yet but we will be going back again when it’s warmer to check that out. Lots of selections on the menu to choose from. The food was real good. I’ve seen reviews about it not being very authentic but i think they«tone it down» for all those people that don’t like spicy, oily food, but still want good Mexican food. If you know real Mexican food, it’s hot and mostly fried in corn oil and a lot of people can’t eat like that. So from someone who was married to a Hispanic I have to say it wasn’t dead on, straight from my ex mother in laws kitchen, but it was a toned down version and a little more restauranty(prepared or boxed for large batches) If you really want true spicy, fried, authentic Mexican food go to a hole in the wall little taqueria or if you ever get invited to a Hispanic party, there’s where you get more«authentic» Mexican cooking A large restaurant will tweak the recipes to cater to all types of people and taste buds. I’m sure if you ask they probably have a stash of some good hot sauce in the back ;) The portions are huge and we almost didn’t finish but we did because it was so good! I think it was just as good as other local large restaurant chains in the area so check it out! Taste for yourself.

The GLMV Chamber had their monthly lunch there this week. It was a buffet and all the food was great. I have eaten there many times and have always found the food and service to be wonderful.

I have gone here a few times in the past since I had not found other options yet in the area. Now I did not grow up with any spicy or Mexican food to eat so I don’t handle that well so it’s really sad to say their food is so bland I no longer go there to eat and would not recommend to others if they want authentic Mexican.

I absolutely LOVE Las Palmas! Everything I’ve had has been great. The margaritas are incredible and the fajitas are like nowhere else… when you get fajitas here it’s not going to be like fajitas you’ve had at any other mainstream restaurant. But seriously… you HAVE to get a margarita. Best one I’ve ever had!

3.4 — stars. If I had remembered to review this 2 years ago it would have gotten 2 stars. Now it is closer to 3.5. Last night had a very solid meal. More positives than negatives, but the negatives first… Negatives: 1. No beer on tap 2. Service was initially totally on top of us at first(not«reading» the table correctly when it was CLEAR we were not ready to order) and later was pretty absent(water refill, check, boxes etc.) 3. Combination plates could be more diverse and I wished they offered either shredded beef or barbacoa Positives: 1. I had the Enchiladas Plate and was very pleased. It was really tasty and not too salty 2. Guacamole was awesome though a bit expensive 3. The rice was great 4. Chips were good 5. Salsa was above average Conclusion: Great place for Tex-mex. You will not go wrong here if that is what you are looking for. If they had beer on tap and service was more intuitive this would be 4 stars

We go here a lot because it is close, and kid friendly. Very average Mexican food, but certainly not bad. The margaritas are a little sweet for my taste, but the guacamole is very good. The service is usually good, and the staff is very friendly.

This is a fun place to go for a relaxed dinner. Their margaritas are excellent and their top shelf tequila selection is worth it. They’ll feed you like it’s your last meal on Earth and out of the four meals we’ve had there, we’re 4 for 4. I can’t wait to go back there this summer; they have a big outdoor seating area that I hope will make fun date nights for my fiancé’ and I.

Very hit or miss. We had a groupon. Tonight was a «hit» and our server Carmen had a fun personality. This evening stars aligned in a positive way. Patio, service and food all good+. Weirdly empty many nights we are there. Not sure how this place stays open.

Just another chain Mexican food restaurant. The food is not very authentic, but it is still cheesy and pretty good. The service is pretty good and I have never had to wait to get a seat here. I had the chile rellenos and I was satisfied.

Had a chance to finally try them out and i am glad i did! Great authentic Mexican food… ask them for their spicy sauce, it is rocking! I tried the Chicken Tacos and my wife tried the Chile Rellonos platter… both were great! Will definitely be back again!

Food and prices here are so-so. My preference over this would be both Grande Jakes in Buffalo Grove or Mia Mexico in Wheeling. But if you have a coupon, it’s worth it.

I was just going to give this place five stars without going into many details but I have to admit, after reading some reviews, the service was almost passive aggressive. We had already caught a buzz @ the Gale Street Inn around the corner but we didn’t want to eat there — we wanted Mexican food. We walked in and our friend(who comes here a-lot apparently) asked if they had any tables outside for about 12 people… the hostess made it seem like maybe they might but it would be a tight squeeze. When we got out there, there was maybe another 3 or 4 tables; more than enough space to accomodate us. So they arranged 3 tables for us in the blazing hot sun which we didn’t complain about, but after the server went to fetch us a few pitchers of their finest* margaritas, we(like the drunk fools we were) rearranged the tables into a configuration that worked better for us. As the sun slid behind the fence, it got cooler and cooler. The margaritas really were excellent — they bring out a quesadilla platter with each pitcher of drinks. Pair that up with a sour-cream and a guacamole and — !BOOM! — that’s some summer, right there. * the very finest!

My son and girlfriend just moved to Mundelein today. I searched Unilocal for a good restaurant and sent them to Las Palmas. They were ecstatic! It was all you said and MORE. They shared a pitcher of margaritas, had the fabulous chicken fajitas and some incredible wonderful dessert with bananas sliced on a diagonal and dipped in a cinnamon sauce to-die-for. What a great first dining experience in their new home town. Thank you, Unilocal.I have 2 photos to post but can’t figure out how to do it.

Went there on a Sunday Afternoon. Spot on 12pm. We were the only people in the entire restaurant. The parking lot was dead and had I not called to ensure they were open on a Sunday afternoon I would not have known nor thought they would be open by the looks of the parking lot. The whole thing was bazaar. My husband ordered a combination plate, a tamale, a taco and something else like an enchilada… I did not like the feel or look … I did not like the fact that no one else was here on a sunday afternoon… big clue for the food quality. So I ordered ice cream for me and the kids… can’t get to sick from ice cream can we? The man came and took our order walked into the kitchen and then walked right back out with our ice cream and my husbands platter of food. YOU tell me… How long did that take? Is this a carnival freak show? Mind readers? they knew exactly what we were going to order and had it pre made? YIKES! The food my husband ordered tasted horrible! Microwaved wannabe Mexican food that is better off being in a can for dog food. The Ice cream was not bad… like soggy rice crispy’s cereal and a scoop of vanilla… whatever… it was better than if I had ordered luke warm pre-made spook food.

Five stars for their Enchiladas Bananas. This dish, served with mole sauce is all kinds of delicious. Since there is no meat, etc., it is one of their cheaper items and cannot be topped. Another plus for Las Palmas is their Mexican beer menu. They have all of the Mexican beers that you could ever want, not just Dos Equis and Corona. They also had quite a few different shrimp items and they serve salsa w/their tortilla chips that is actually a lil bit spicy– most places give you weak sauce. The prices here are a little higher than other less-nice Mexican joints, but the atmosphere is much better. It is a great place to bring a date, or a group, and the service when we attended was muy bueno. In all, this would not necessarily be a 5 star place, especially for the slightly high prices, but those enchiladas were divine.

Have been to this place 3 times now, always with friends. The drinks are pretty decent and tasty. The food seems to be a little hit or miss… My friends taco’s were bland, my steak fajitas were really good. The chile relleno wasn’t seasoned, it was still cheesy and not bad, but could have been way better. Their chips and salsa are pretty par for the course, not great, but not bad. For run of mill mexican food and drinks, it’s not bad, and it’s not super expensive.

Las Palmas is my dad’s absolute favorite restaurant in the world, and since my mother hates Mexican food, I’m relegated to Las Palmas duty when I come home to visit the rents. Gotta appease my pops! Located on a dumpy area of Mundelein, you’d more than likely run in the opposite direction if you didn’t know better. But I like to think the tacky décor and day-glo neon signage out front are solid deterrents to keep the patronage low so I can always get a table. Despite appearances, Las Palmas actually serves up some pretty solid Mexican food. I’m a big fan of the combo plates so I can get my tostada, chimichunga AND flauta fix. Served with a side of refried beans and rice, you’ve got a veritable smörgåsbord of fried goodies to satisfy your South of the Border cravings. Big ups to the chili rellenos, too. I can’t pinpoint it, but damn if they aren’t some of the more tasty chili rellenos I’ve eaten. Service? Friendly! At this point, every woman who works there knows my father, which I find slightly disturbing, but hey, they give us great service so no complaints from me!
