Great service and awesome drinks! My husband and I love coming here. The food is amazing and the ambience is sexy. This is our go-to for short notice, impromptu dates!

Loved this place until a few weeks ago when I learned they hired a new chef and completely changed the menu, food is subpar. Super small portions, left there still hungry even after dessert. Really disappointed, this was a great spot, probably won’t be back now tho. Two stars, one for the ambience and the other for their chocolate mouse cake.

Somethings not right, new menu is very limited with out a choice of vegetables only Zucchini yuck. Main come with one side and a added side of zucchini is $ 7. Crazy. At least Armada is still here and the beer is cold I’m told they are adding items to the menu but the chef is from another restaurant that wasn’t know for greatest food or reasonable prices. Why would you take the Bibb salad off the menu and the chicken? Strange will need to rethink this place which is a shame I’ve been coming here since it opened. Prices are higher and choices are more limited. How this works for them, because it doesn’t for me.

My bf brought me here for my birthday and it was a nice dinner. Very cozy restaurant with regulars, it has a solid menu. We started with truffled cavatelli & cheese and the slow braised pork belly. GETTHEPORKBELLY! I had teh scallops risotto as recommended by many Unilocalers, and it was amazing! My bf had the ribeye which he said was cooked very nicely but not really amazing. We had truffled fries and garlic kale on the side. they were both ok. I wish they did kale chips instead of garlic kale. fries were a bit soggy. I ended with tea since it said«Twinnings Tea» but they only have the flavored ones left. Disappointed since I like twinnings earl grey :( nice ambience. family friendly. there is an area in front of the fireplace and looked very cozy and pretty with benches. it does get busy and they don’t take reservation so get there early!

Best scallops risotto I ever tasted. We go there once a month and this basically the only meal I order since it’s so hard to pass up. My husband says their burgers are pretty awesome too.

Love the décor. The staff is generally great(wait staff 5 star) but the hostesses can be a little selective in seating. Drinks are consistent and not watered down!!! Food is consistently well prepared with quality ingredients

Had an amazing dinner here. My husband had the burger. He loved it. Said the fresh ground meat was grilled and had a smokeish flavor. He is a big d Fan! The burger looked huge! I had the scallops with risotto on the gluten free menu and it was Devine! Perfect texture, perfect portion. We both had the bibb salad and it was perfectly seasoned. Can’t wait to go back and try again.

Ate there last night around 8pm. It was crowded(good sign) with only a few places open. We were seated right away. I had an app of shrimp and grits — small but yummy and then an app of baby back ribs. The ribs were tender but overcooked and the BBQ sauce was too sweet. I won’t order them again. They have a really nice draft beer list that a little on the pricier side. The worst thing about my meal was our server. Christine. yup, I called you out. She was very inattentive and barely checked on us. My friend and I were going to order another beer, however we couldn’t because our server never came back. .When it was time for the check, she dropped it and disappeared. Another member of my party had to track her down and give her our credit cards so she could run them. That was a bummer. Would I come back? Maybe. but if I do then I’ll be sure to sit in a different section.

This place is a cute spot to grab a drink and some eats with your significant other. The ambiance makes for a great date night or girls night out with dim lighting, cozy seating, and a fireplace. The bartenders know how to make a drink, the wine selection is great, and the food is yummy. My hubz and I ordered the appetizers of buffalo wings and cavatelli. I definitely recommend them. The service is friendly and very attentive. Will definitely be back!

Place is nice and cozy, pretty fireplace„ couldn’t figure out if it was a pub or a fine dining restaurant though, the food was ok small portions and expensive but the beer menue was to die for!!! Great craft beer options, I’ll be back there for more beer for sure

Went to dinner 12÷5÷15 nice décor, good service but not worth the money in all honesty. I felt the portions were small, $ 30 for a Skirt Steak special was exorbitant for some risotto, 3 plantains and two pieces of steak. I could have went to Kilkenny House, Pairings, or 100 Steps. The last two may have cost a little more but not much and I would have come away feeling like it was worth it. I don’t mind spending the money but hate when I go away feeling like it wasn’t worth it.

This is one of my go-to restaurants. Been going here regularly since it opened. The owner is paying close attention to everything and knows how to run a restaurant/bar. The food and atmosphere are excellent.

Had dinner here on a Friday night with four friends. At 6:00PM, we only had to wait about 15 min. for a table, and sitting by the gas fireplace while enjoying a drink was pleasant. By 6:30PM, there was already an overflow of patrons waiting for tables, so the place can get very crowded and noisy. The lighting is soft, and and the ambiance comfortable. Three flat-screen TV’s, two over the bar, and one over the fireplace, are more of a distraction than an enhancement. I had a blue cheese iceberg salad and a filet mignon. My companions had a grilled pork chop, mussels, beet & goat cheese salads, a burger, and Shepherd’s Pie. Everyone enjoyed their food. Portions are modest, but sufficient. My friend is a wine connoisseur, and was not impressed with the wine menu, commenting that it is uninteresting and overpriced, but he is a snob. They have a good beer menu, and I had Duvel Belgian beer, one of my favorites, which at $ 9 was a buck cheaper than at nearby Grillestone on the highway. The service was polite and flawless. Our tab for three beers, three glasses of wine, plus one bottle of the lowest-priced Argentinian wine, four apps/salads, and five entrées, was $ 280, plus tip. Not bad. I liked the place and would return, but probably avoid at peak weekend mealtimes due to the crowds and volume level.

Publick House is one of those places you drive by without really realizing its there. With Westfield and all its choices right down the street, it gets overlooked. I stopped in one night not sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised! Its a unique upscale place in Mountainside, which is not known for a sizzling night life. There’s a long bar, some high tables to the left as you walk in near the bar area, regular tables for dinner, and an area with cushion seating near the fireplace all the way in the back. The menu is varied — filet mignot, scallops, lobster rolls, corned beef sandwich, the requisite burger, etc. They have a larger than expected craft beer menu, including such choices as Troegs the Mad Elf lol Each time I’ve been there, the service has been excellent, the food has been very good(if a tad pricey), and the drinks have been generous pours. If you are in the area, its worth stopping in.

3.5 stars for Publick House’s good beer selection and food. Publick House is a hybrid bar /restaurant. In terms of layout, it feels more like a bar: the main dining room is casually appointed, and opens up to a large, well-stocked bar, with ~15 microbrews on tap. I went on a Thursday evening, and it was hopping, both earlier in the evening as a restaurant, and later as it morphed into a bar. Beer selection is good — on this visit I enjoyed the Founders Nitro Pale Ale — and the house cocktails sound intriguing. Will have to wait until next time to sample those. For dinner I started with the beet, spinach and goat cheese salad(good), and then moved on to the scallops, which were very good. Five perfectly-cooked scallops, served on a yummy bed of roasted corn, bacon and red peppers. Perfect portion size, very tasty, and a dish I would definitely order again. Dessert wasn’t quite up to that standard. The dessert menu plays it safe: brownie sundae, cheesecake, gelatos & sorbets. I selected the cheesecake, which was OK, but a bit coarse-grained, not as creamy as the best ones I’ve had. Service was fine, in a casual way. The kind of service you’d get at a nice pub, but maybe not quite up to the level of what you’d expect at a place where entrees run $ 25 — $ 30.

My date had been talking about this spot for a while so we went recently with a few friends. I got a few glasses of Riesling, which were awesome. For my meal, I got the Publick Burger with caramelized red onion, apple wood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, hand cut fries. Instead of fries, I got the mashed potatoes, which were amazing. Very buttery and rich. I ordered the burger medium rare and it was delicious. My date got the Shepherd’s Pie(braised lamb, vegetables, garlic potato pureé), which was really good. It was very filling. He ended up bringing home half of it and we had it with our breakfast, which was still good in the morning. The place has dark mood lighting so it’s good to take someone on a date. It’s clean and has a huge fireplace in the back. Though, the clientele aren’t dressed up to the nines so don’t feel obligated to look good. Our waitress seemed friendly enough. I do note at one point, I did say, «Where’s my burger?!» because hunger was beginning to seep in, which is a sign that I may have waited 5 – 10 mins longer than I’d like. At least I only said it once. Prices are a little high for this spot in my opinion. I could get just as good a burger elsewhere for a little cheaper in my opinion. Though, huge thank you to my date for treating me. This place does NOT take reservations and my date said sometimes it can be an hour wait, which I dislike. Thankfully the night we went, it was pretty quiet in there so we got a table asap. But seriously, just take reservations! Makes it easier on everyone rather than drive out here then have to wait forever to eat.

I was completely surprised by this place. My friend and I did a double date here, and I was told«pub fare,» which I love. So I was expecting like nachos and wings and, you know, pub fare. And I’m wearing like a hoodie and jeans with my Rhino Toms — not exactly dressed for a nice dinner. So we walk in and get fancy menus and I see the prices and then this guy by the fireplace gets down on one knee and proposes to his girlfriend — and I realize I am not entirely prepared for this meal. I had also already eaten, expecting to grab something small while everyone else had dinner. So I pulled myself up by the bootstraps and came to terms with this surprise fancy meal. I ordered the Bibb salad and a glass of Riesling. I took the hoodie off and settled in. I looked around, not many people were dressed for a fancy dinner. It’s a casual atmosphere in this bar/restaurant with upscale food. The salad was delicious, but definitely not filling. If I hadn’t eaten before, I would have been ravenous by the end(I also didn’t get any protein on it, so if I added chicken or shrimp, it may have been more filling). The fries(my date had the burger) were amazing and so were the whipped potatoes(my friend had those with her burger). A+ for their potatoes.

I was in the mood for a Shepherds Pie and this was one of the only places we could find that had it on the menu so my girlfriend and i figured we would try the place out. I understand on a Friday night you may be busy, but most of the servers here are high school kids that seem more excited to flirt with eachother than help their tables. I ordered a coke, and not once, not twice, but three times did I have to remind my waiter about it. The second time he even came back and asked how everything was going. When my girlfriend and I finished our meal, we tried eyeing our waiter hoping he would get the hint but he was too busy leaning on the wall talking to the hostess. Other people in our section were frustrated too. The servers name was Mike. I understand one waiter shouldn’t ruin it for everybody. It looked like it had a nice after dinner spot in the back and the Shepherds Pie was actually quite tasty. However the salmon and the mussels were nothing to rave about. The mussels sauce didn’t have much flavor. Bottom line, if you want a shepherds pie order it to go.

I recently went to Publick House and had a great time there. The place was packed when my significant other and I walked in. We gave our names to the host and proceeded to wait at the bar. Although the space is small, the design of the area is great. The family who runs this knows to pay attention to all the details. The bar taps are great and everything is kept clean. I highly recommend reservations(if they take any) during the weekends. Once we got our table and sat down, a waitress named Nancy was taking care of us the rest of the night. She was professional and awesome throughout the whole service process. In terms of the food, the team in the kitchen was making some great dishes. I would say the food won’t blow you away but a lot of attention is paid on making your dishes. The presentation is good, the taste is good and everything on the menu looks great. We went with what Nancy told us and got(mac&cheese, Spicy Tuna Crisp & Slow Braised Pork Belly) for apps and split the hanger Steak for entrée. Everything was prepared well and the food was great. I would definitely recommend everyone to try this place.
