Great food, poor service. Dined in and waited a very, very long time for menus and then for our order to be taken and then for our check while the waiters hung out with their friends at another table. We ordered Mussamun Curry with cod, Pad Khee Mow with chicken, and Chan Pad Poh. All were marked as spicy on the menu. The waiter did not ask our spiciness preference. All were delicious but not spicy. Ordered pick-up through EAT24 another day. Forgot to add rice so emailed EAT24 immediately to add it to the order. They responded within 1 minute that the order had been updated(EAT24 rocks so far!). Food was ready quickly, but did not include the rice and they tried to charge me again at the restaurant after I had already paid online. My credit card shows 3 pending charges from the online order. Hoping that will correct itself. Ordered Pad Thai with chicken(which was good), corn cakes(delicious), and Malaysian Curry with cod ordered medium spicy(delicious and decent level of spice, but not enough vegetables and did not include all the types of vegetables listed in the description). I’ll try very spicy next time. This is a cute little place with great food. The only thing holding it back from a 5th star is the lackluster service.

This is the first time I’ve seen RokMon as a menu entrée, and the description sold me… so here goes nothing. I was pleasantly surprised when it came out! My picture doesn’t do it justice but its like baked curry. But its extra delicious because of the giant fish chunks, not flakey but firm, kinda like the stuff you get from korean places. You can get it with rice but its fine as is. It still taste great as leftovers 5 days later. Its foil wrapped so its super fun(and a bit messy) to unravel. I felt like I was opening a shiny present of yumminess: D Service was excellent — no issues with a big group of 7.

BBQ Pork, but it didn’t taste like pork. There was actually some kind of hair on the meat. It was tough and didn’t taste right. Got this to go. I wont go back.

Really delicious, and not very expensive. I had the vegetarian yellow curry, and it was very flavorful and just the right amount of spicy. Service could have been better, not very friendly. Overall, recommended!

Short Review: I’m a bit of a Thai Food freak now because of this place. Long Review: I started going to this place when it first opened.(or at least when I first noticed it wasn’t the same place it used to be) I usually get a curry of sorts but I’ve tried their fried rices and noodle dishes as well. The portion sizes are great and the flavor is there. The only quirk I would say is that the sauces are typically a bit more soupier than I’d like but nonetheless flavorful. They don’t shy on vegetables either like some other thai restaurants I’ve been too! The service & prices are great too. I’ve been with many of my friends and they’ve all loved it as well. For a small place, definitely worth a visit!

The food here is solid and our kids love it. We order take out a couple times a month and always have a good experience. I recently ordered catering for our office and was very happy wit the quality of the food for such a large order. The food arrived on time, fresh and hot! Lunches are great as well, many selections at very reasonable prices. This place is certainly worth a visit.

I ordered a huge To-Go order for my daughter’s 18th birthday. The kids loved it and scarfed the entire order down in about 20 minutes. The owners were terrific and accommodated the special circumstances well. I arrived at the designated time and they had everything packed, hot and ready to go. A wonderful surprise was the owner made a special Thai Iced tea for my daughter for no charge, just as a special thank you. These folks really care and go the extra mile. We love their Pad Prik King, their Green Curry Chicken and the Green Papaya salad with prawns. But be careful, ‘medium’ for the salad can be very spicy!

This place is great. Fiancée and I stopped in for a quick dinner the other night. The place was empty so I was a little worried but they were great. The food was fresh, served quick, our server was good as well. The dishes are really on the affordable side too which is always a plus. We really dig garlic noodles and a few places we’ve tried lately don’t really deliver the«garlic.» Luckily, Tommy Thai does the job and Medium spicy was more than enough to cure our need for some burn! We’ll be back.

Good food with good portions. The restaurant only sits about 35 people and has a no frills atmosphere. Seems to be very popular… every table was occupied.

I review on behalf of my colleagues. We catered Tommy Thai through a 3rd party vendor and they did a great job. I can speak to the presentation of their food — they were EXTREMELY organized. They had everything cleanly packaged, all sides were clearly labeled for distribution. One thing mentioned about the food, which is hard to find is truly Thai Spicyness here at Tommy Thai. You go to a lot of restaurants in the Bay Area and they take a look at someone like me(or some of my co-workers) and they take your really spicy comment to mean mild spicyness! They did not hold back on the spice at Tommy Thai! Great flavors all around, great seasoning and fresh ingredients! So two thumbs way up for Tommy Thai, just know they don’t hold back on the spicyness :)

When my friend and I walked in at around 8:15pm, there were like 4 diners. The place was dead, and we kind of debated if we should go somewhere else. But we figured it would be nice to actually hear each other when talking so we stayed. We ordered the following: 1) Fresh Rolls with tofu — $ 7.95 Choice of chicken, tofu or shrimp, cucumber, lettuce, carrots, green onion and spinach wrapped in rice paper and served with peanut sauce. 2) Vegetarian Yellow Curry — $ 8.95 Tossed with a yellow curry sauce, coconut milk, yellow onions, potatoes and carrots. Additional $ 2 for brown rice 3) Vegetarian Pad Khee Mow(mild with tofu) — $ 8.95 Fresh, flat, pan-fried noodles with choice of protein tossed with yellow onions, fresh bell peppers, tomatoes and basil. The food here was surprisingly good! Everything was delicious! The vegetables in the fresh rolls tasted really fresh and the peanut sauce that came with had a good flavor. It was mild but tasty(I hope that makes sense). The curry was a little watery than what I’m used to but the flavor was still good and the vegetables were cooked just right. It came with tofu and broccoli in addition to the regular ingredients listed. And my favorite out of the three is the noodles. I’m glad we didn’t order the usual, Pad Thai. The pad khee mow had a pack of good flavor and just the right amount of spice!(You tell them how spicy you want it between 1 – 10 and we requested 5, which was perfect for us.) Their prices are very reasonable, considering their food is great and the portions are big. We had a lot of left over. I would have given this place five stars if only the restroom is not outside of the restaurant and it wasn’t just one stall. Bottom line is, this place is worth a visit! :)

LOVETHISPLACE! My co-workers and I come here regularly. The curries are awesome. I’ve tried pretty much all of them and my favorite would have to be the green curry. I like that it has eggplant and zucchinis in it. Not sure if that’s authentic because I’ve never had those ingredients in my green curry before, but I like it. Pad See Ew is decent. I would stay away from the Pad Thai. They make it all wrong. The side salad has some really good dressing. Make sure you ask for napkins if you get to-go orders. They seem to never put any in the bag. Not sure why they are napkin hoarders. My advice to the restaurant, DON’T FORGETTHENAPKINS!!!

Recently I am motivated to try new restaurants, because I have realized that there are so many places to try even in my area. I Unilocaled and Tommy Thai was hit. I had passed here but never paied attention. This visit was my first time eating Cambodian food. I ate Trob Char Kreoung(pork, eggplant, green onions, yellow onions) as a main dish. It was very tasty! Curry sauce mixed well with pork and veges. Eating with rice had a perfect chemistry. I also ate fried tofu. It was cripsy and good. At last I ate fried banana with ice cream. As a sweet tooth, this was great. The service was friendly. All other tables had doggy bags but only our table had none and even ate ice cream. The waitress was impressed.

There’s no other place that can beat their lunch deals. For $ 7.99 you can choose from a wide variety of dishes(Pad Thai, Pineapple Fried Rice, Basil Beef, Eggplant & Tofu, etc.) that comes with a soup AND salad on the side. I’m not sure what kind of dressing it is that they use on their salad, but whatever it is, it’s delicious. Same goes for the soup, although there were a couple times it was a little bland. The portion sizes here are huge & another plus is that they serve brown rice(for an additional $ 1). The service is always fast & friendly. The restaruant itself is pretty small & parking is limited. I wouldn’t recommend this place for any parties larrger than 6. Tommy Thai isn’t the best Thai restaurant i’ve been to, but I do highly recommend this place!

I’ve driven past Tommy Thai more times than I can remember and finally decided to give it a try. It’s interesting how the two Tommy Thai locations(the other is Tommy T’s Grill) have taken over former Mr. Chau locations. Not sure if there is any relevant connection. As Kim N’s review stated, he’s right that Chinese(specifically Mandarin) is spoken by the wait staff. But from other reviews(Local S.), it’s stated that the chef is Cambodian and that is their main specialty despite the fact that they serve the more mainstream Thai dishes as well. I’ve had Cambodian only a few times at Chez Sovan in San Jose and Green Champa Garden in Fremont, but do appreciate the unique dishes. As for Thai, I’d say that overall, we have many locations on the Peninsula but that most disappoint. I still miss Marnee Thai from the City and consider Krung Thai in San Jose(both locations) to be my favorite Thai spots. Interestingly, I consider the MV related Krung Thai to be among my least favorite and much worse than the other two farther south. If I had to pick, I’d probably name Shana Thai my favorite in MV, but I can’t remember if I’ve been to Amarin. The interior of Tommy Thai is pretty standard. It’s clean, traditional and quiet. Service was prompt and efficient. Our order: Pineapple Fried Rice — I wanted to order the crab fried rice but was told their version was spicy. It must be a slight variation on the typical Thai crab fried rice which isn’t really that spicy when I’ve had it. The pineapple fried rice was a nice non-spicy option and comes nicely served in a whole pineapple. Onions are coarsely cut and fried with the rice and the heat is decent. I’d say it’s pretty good but I’d like more pineapple and ingredients than the rice. Pad See Ew — same spicy deal with wanting to order Chad Pad Poo which is very mildly spicy. Given I was with non-spicy eaters, we got steered to this dish. It’s very similar to Chinese Hor Fun and made similar to MV’s Krung Thai. A heavy gravy sauce, big slices of white meat chicken and oily wide noodles. Pretty middle of the road. Hor Mok — Finally decided to order a Cambodian specialty though no one else was going to eat it. I’ve had the Catfish Amok at Chez Sovan and I honestly liked the version here much better. The ingredients were better with large pieces of shrimp, rock cod fillet instead of catfish, and generally better spices. The one thing I missed from Chez Sovan is that they used banana leaf to wrap the whole dish whereas here they use aluminum foil. Overall, Tommy Thai’s was an all right meal, but fairly unforgettable on my list of places with similar cuisine. While I thought the Cambodian dish was better(and that’s perhaps what people should order here rather than the Thai dishes they serve just for the mainstream), the flavors were not as notable as items I had at Green Champa Garden. Tommy Thai’s accept credit cards, but not American Express.
