I love this place. I live in Santa Cruz but always stop here on the way out of town or sometimes I even take the trip out just because it’s that good. It’s the best Mongolian BBQ place I’ve ever been to and the food is delicious. They have way more options for ingredients and sauces than other places I’ve been to and the prices are very reasonable. I will definitely continue coming here for as long as I’m in the area.

Yum! I’ve been to New Mongolian BBQ twice now, and I would recommend it to anyone in the Mountain View area. The restaurant seems to be a hidden gem, because it’s never too crowded in there. You walk in, and someone will greet you and direct you to the table and offer to get you drinks. From there, you go over to the buffet and pick out the amount of noodles and all the veggies and meats you want. They have chicken, beef, pork, and lamb. I highly recommend the lamb — delicious! Their vegetables are all great, too. They have carrots, baby corn, mushrooms, bell peppers, and some more. I do hope they get more vegetables in the future and have a bigger buffet. Finally, the best part is all the sauces they have to add to your food, and they have their own specials combinations to recommend. I love the garlic sauce and curry sauce, and their house special is a must-try. From there, you set your plate down for the cook to mix together. It’s overall an easy process, delicious food, and you can go back as much as you want! I hope the restaurant will grow over time, and I will be back for more.

Okay, I usually don’t do this, but for this certain situation. I need to update my review. I came back to this location for the second time with my boyfriend since we needed to kill time before a workshop we needed to go to. We were both one plate in and filling up our bowls to grab our second round of Mongolian BBQ when my boyfriend found a HAIR in his bowl. Right before, he grabbed a bit of onions and a little gift. GROSS. Although, for a place like this, self-serve, it’s understandable that this could happen. Of course, there’s a lot of people who go through the line, right? HOWEVER, the way the employees and management react to the situation makes all the difference on if a person can see this as forgivable. When my boyfriend approached an employee to tell him about what he found, he was just told, «So you want another bowl?» No apology, no sense of urgency to fix the situation completely. It almost seemed like this was something that the employee heard often based on his little to no emotional reaction. What made it even worse, was that they didn’t even change out the food that my boyfriend found the hair in. We saw many other people go through the food line grabbing food from the same pile. We immediately walked out and promised each other that we wouldn’t turn our backs on our typical Mongolian BBQ joints again. Not many places rank so low on my list, but New Mongolian BBQ, you’ve made the cut.

Neat concept, but very unsanitary. They should have someone serving you at the buffet line. Instead, every child’s hand is in the broccoli and noodles. I would not go here again, unless they reorganize the place to be cleaner, with less of a chance to catch someone else’s cooties.

Came here with my hubby and daughter last night, my daughter’s choice and it was excellent! It was quite an adventure since it was our first time in the establishment as well as eating Magnolian style bbq. ***its all you can eat!!!*** so if you come with plenty of time(and appetite) you can try doing different combinations in small portions. Just saying… The spring egg rolls alone are so addicting! They are crunchy perfection! And to end your meal you can enjoy their delicious creamy soft serve. Although i my case by the time I make it to dessert I am stuffed like a teddy bear I share one with my hubby. In conclusion: Definitely a new family favorite!

A nice little place for all you can eat. I came here on a Wednesday for a group lunch(~$ 12/person) and was quickly seated around 11:30. The crowd began to come in quickly after. We saw beef, chicken and pork options, egg rolls, and many veggies for creating our personal stir fries. We each grabbed two bowls, then stood in line and got our dishes made within 10 mins. The sauces I used included sweet, spicy, curry, wine, garlic. I didn’t follow the instructions on the wall but it turned out tasty and good amount of saltiness. I also absolutely loved their self serve ice cream, it was very creamy without the too fatty texture that usually turns me off. I’d love to come back again for lunch.

Mongolian BBQ can be soooo much better than this! First off, I’ve really seen a stronger selection of veggies. Would it really kill them to offer thai chilis, peanuts, tomatoes and a few more sauces that aren’t just combinations of each other? But the worst part about it isn’t the underwhelming selection, it’s the watered-down-ness. All the sauces are totally watered-down, then they add a shit ton of water while they cook your stuff. And surprise! it comes out all watery. I felt like I was eating a stir-fry soup. Then, there’s the service. You can’t get a word in edgewise with them. I tried(and failed) 3 times to order a beer. THISISMETRYINGTOGIVEYOUMYMONEY. The instructions at the table also mention a number of other free things you can ask for like rice. Needless to say, I didn’t get my hands on any of it.

This place is just all right for Mongolian BBQ. A fairly small restaurant that is good for a quick lunch(provided you don’t spend 20 minutes trying to find parking!) The sauces were good, but I found their buffet line was messy and not well maintained. I do appreciate the free ice cream at the end thouhg!

This is a pretty standard Mongolian BBQ. I like it for picky eaters because they can create their own meal. I also like to come here with the family. It is a relatively family friendly establishment. There is a somewhat limited variety of choices, but it is adequate. What I really like about this place are the egg rolls and soft serve. That makes me rather go here than other places. The prices are acceptable for the area. I will be back again soon.

3+ stars. Very solid place for this genre of food, i.e. not-so-high quality. Plus: $ 12.99 all you can eat Mongolian BBQ. Minus: has a soft serve machine(automatically reminds me of Sizzler). Great for families, kids, and especially for those that can eat a ton. The place is normally crowded, but you can get a table for 4 pretty easily if you’re there for an early dinner. Pretty mediocre assortment of veggies, but they do have water chestnuts, which always go well with M-BBQ.

This place is basically a pick your own ingredients and we stir fry it for you. The veggies looked fresh but the meat(pork, chicken, and beef) were definitely frozen. They have plenty of sauces on the bar and tables. Two bowls of stuffs should be just enough for a plate since meat and veggies shrink during cooking. Since you get to pick your seasoning, e.g. sauces, etc, you can mess up on the taste. If you do mess up the flavor, you can try adding more sauces on your table. I recommend adding garlic and onion at least. They also have fried veggie egg rolls and also complimentary rice and soup if you ask. Normally I’d rate this a 3 star but since it’s not usually crowded, cheap for Mt View downtown and the quantity, they get extra star.

This is one of the best mongolian place in MV. There is a wide range of selection of sauces and veggies. You get in a line chose your meat, noodles, veggies and sauces and let the cook fry it for you. There is a nice chart to help you with the sauces. You can also get the some egg chicken soup which are ok, you might have to add salt and pepper. You can get in the line as many times as you want. The ambience is not great, though it gives a feel of typical mongolian roadside eating places, which makes it authentic at the same time. There is outside seating place which is nice. It could get really crowded.

I love this place! It’s a great deal, especially for AYCE lunch. Included in the price is unlimited plates of food, delicious soft serve, egg drop soup, egg rolls, and rice. They have four different kinds of meat(beef, pork, lamb, chicken), several vegetable toppings, and tons of sauces. You can create your own sauce combinations, but they also have some recommendations if you’re not sure what to use. Despite being frozen, I’ve found that the meat is pretty tender. I’d recommend not taking a heaping bowl of noodles your first time through the line. It’ll just make you full too quickly! Instead, load up on meat and toppings and use less noodles so that you can go through the line multiple times and get your money’s worth. The only downside to this place is that sometimes my plates are spicy when I didn’t want them to be. I guess it’s the luck of the draw — if the person ahead of you put in peppers and used the chili sauces, your plate may inadvertently come out spicier than you bargained for. Don’t forget to bring cash to tip the cooks! :)

Sorry, please ignore the other review. It wasn’t for this place. Thanks! Anyway, onto the review. The best Mongolian BBQ in the South Bay. I love this place. I always come here, if I need to have Mongolian BBQ. It’s good to see this place packed, which means good business. That is always good to see. I love that they cook it the way that I wanted and that I am treated like a family member by the awesome staff. Yes, I will definitely be back for more.

Sweet and simple. Pick what you like, leave what you don’t and two guys around a metal pit grill this mongolian feast for you. Still hungry? Go for seconds. Enjoyed dinner here. It’s AYCE. Go nuts

This place is right on Castro by one of my favorite restaurants, crepevine. I’ve been meaning to drop in for a long time and finally managed to go on a weekend. The weekend lines can get pretty long, but the host will fight till he finds you a table inside, so don’t be put off by the crowd. He was particular that our party of 4 were all present till he went fishing for a table to seat us. The food itself isn’t remarkable, I’ve had better Mongolian food. But, like most Mongolian buffets, this is great value for money and worth a try.

I get an email from Ms Compliance Officer titled ‘Refrigerators are getting pretty dirty’, inviting me out to lunch, with my old Boss tagging along, to Mongolian BBQ on Castro in Mountain View, 1130am on Friday. The boss says I can bring my wife as long as my handler has me on a leash and muzzled! I ask the wife if she wants to come, and she says yes, until I say that she might have to clean out two refrigerators used by 42 coworkers afterwards. The wife reconsiders, and says thanks but no thanks. I drive over and get there at 11:15am, with the next door restaurant Crepes Wine packed, and Mongolian BBQ virtually empty. Should I go in ahead of time, and start the all you can eat lunch? I decide to wait, me in T shirt, shorts, and white crisscross thin strap sandals, until my two coworkers arrive, in leather shoes, long khakis and dress shirts. So they are a little late –good enough for government work! And could you guess who is still working?! So only 2 of my co-workers come out on a Friday to have lunch with me! Well it’s a Friday, and only a handful of the 42 co-workers are at the office –the others are telecommuting, and hopefully not playing hooky! Those who are the office know my reputation for roasting fellow co-workers in my previous Unilocal reviews, and are shaking in their shoes, at the prospect of eating lunch with me! Mongolian BBQs are all set up the same way: you get up and stand in the food line, and fill up your bowls with raw uncooked vegetables and meats –chicken, beef, lamb and pork. At the end of the line, you present your bowls to the cook, who pan fries the ingredients with your choice of sauce, over a huge oversize hot heating frying pan. The cooked food is then piled onto a plate for you to eat, right out of the fryer. At 11:35am there are only two people ahead of us in line, with one guy demonstrating how to pile on the food far higher than the rim of the bowl. I fill one bowl with an assortment of still thin strips of still frozen chicken, beef and pork, and the other bowl with noodles, bean sprouts, broccoli crowns, onions, cucumbers and other vegetables. I don’t want to look like I’m gorging so I don’t pile it too high, thinking I will come back for seconds. Big mistake! The cook takes my two bowls, and tosses them on one corner of the frying tray, turns them over constantly, and 90 seconds later, voila, lunch is served, pushing the cooked contents into a clean plate. Hopefully the chef remembers to clean off the metal cooking surface before the next customer’s food is cooked. We get a table outside, ask for water, and get our bill for $ 30 plus tax for 3 adults –children 9 and under are charged $ 7 for lunch. I guess they found out the hard way how much those children 10 – 12 can eat! And no senior discount for us old farts –the Boss is celebrating his 60th later this month, just a few months after Ms Compliance Officier’s 50th! The vegetables are fresh, and with the sauce and cooked meats, taste delicious. And they did cook the chicken long enough –no stomach aches, at least not for me, afterwards! Meanwhile, the line of customers grows, until it extends far back into the restaurant. They have three bingo type communal tables, each row of 10, so they can fit 60+ people inside, and this Friday they are packed. A second chef comes and helps with the cooking, with the line still increasing. It’s all you can eat, but you can only pile on so much into two bowls, and they don’t leave a lot of meat outside for you to load up on. So you have to leave some for the people behind you. And coming back for seconds is not plausible, given the length of the line, and the time it takes to cook the food for 70 people in line, at this one station. Next time I come here for Mongolian BBQ, make sure to come at 11am sharp, and pile on the meats as high as possible –you can ask for rice on the side. We do some small talk, about the deteriorating state of hygiene in the work refrigerators, and I bring out my water bill summary for the year, showing that I’ve used 26 gallons of water per day, whereas Ms Compliance Officer, aka water hog, has used 750 gallons of water per day. I do load up on 5 egg rolls and two whipped ice cream mini cones. I can stay for seconds if I’m willing to wait for the line, now down to about a dozen people, to shrink. But my co-workers still have to work for a living, unlike some of us! We all head for the office afterwards, where I also have to work for a living –in this case the lunch comes with having to clean out two refrigerators for my 42 co workers –you don’t really think there is such a thing as a free lunch! The last ex-employee who came back to the office, was thrown into the overnight pokey, so I have to make sure I’m invited, free lunch or not! The boss says they haven’t processed the paperwork to issue a stay away notification for me. Not yet!

New Mongolian is my favorite place to eat on Castro hands down, which is saying a LOT because there are some really legit and delicious restaurants in downtown Mountain View. This place has the delightful combination of cheap pricing and all-you-can-eat delicious food. It’s done buffet style with a selection of good meat(chicken, beef, lamb, and pork), vegetables, and sauces. They cook it on a huge contraption by the window, and watching them cook is fun and brings out the little kid in me! They also have soft-serve and egg rolls in the buffet line as well, and you can keep going back as many times as you want, all for roughly 13 – 15 dollars per person.

Food: This is a buffet where you build your own noodle plate and they cook it right in front of you. You are able to go back for seconds or thirds, just for clarification. The selection is pretty good. The meats include chicken, beef, pork, and lamb. There’s about 20 choices of vegetables and toppings. Add the sauce and BAM! Freshly cooked in just about 1 minute. The price is reasonable as well. We went for dinner and it was about ~$ 12/person. Oh right, they have ice cream too! Service: Very fast service since it is mostly self served. But the hostess was very fast on handing out the water and other drinks. The bill came out fast too. Quick and easy! Make sure you go just a bit before dinner actually starts since it can get really crowded and you might have wait for seating. The Unfortunate: My boyfriend got food poisoning from this restaurant and their chicken not cooked all the way. The food poisoning turned into a fever that lasted for a couple of days. I really recommend making sure the meat is fresh and all the way cooked before eating it!
