Now called La Cabana… Donut Field just didn’t do it justice with the variety of Salvadorian food they actually make. Great pupusas and good prices! Can’t beat the sweet owner too… AND surprisingly great donuts. Not too sweet or greasy :) I’ll be back!

Disappointed to arrive at 6:45AM and find this place closed needed some early-morning donuts for the team. Having their donuts before I am extra disappointed because I know they are very good

Order: 1. pupusa plate &1. tamale plate Tamales were extremely soggy and not very flavorful. The pupusas were similarly sub-par. The wee ramekin of watery beans was left untouched on both of our plates. The curtido tasted vaguely of plastic container. The salsa tasted exactly like tomato sauce dressed up slightly with dried herbs. I don’t necessarily need ritzy surroundings in order to feel good about my dining experience, but this place is so low-frills it’s depressing to sit in and fairly reeks of desperation. I’d imagine not doing a strong trade lends to the dismal vibe of the joint. Mind you, had the food been superlative, the surroundings could be excused. Although I’d imagine a place as uninspired as this one is would not ever be able to produce superior cuisine. Time for a massive make-over, La Cabana.

These are the best pupusas I’ve ever had. When I see the pupusas coming my way, my heart skips a beat. They are that good. They come with a vinegar-y cabbage slaw and smooth salsa(which I love to put over the rice). Any day I go to La Cabaña is a good day. My go to is a Zucchini and Cheese pupusas Combo(2 pupusas with rice and beans(vegetarian)). Most of the time I get a fresh chocolate glazed donut as an appetizer while my food is being made. The donuts are light and delicious with a great glaze. Also, the owner/cashier is the sweetest lady you will ever meet.

Saw this place next door to Cost Plus and decided to give it a try. First thing we noticed when walking in was how HOT it was inside! They have 3 or 4 ceiling fans but did not have one of them on! Moving on… we ordered the pork and cheese and chicken and cheese pupusas. They were good but hard to enjoy since it was just too hot inside the restaurant. We would come back but probably in the winter when we wont have to sweat through our meal. They also have a case of paletas. Might be a good way to cool down after your meal.

I am pleasantly surprised to be giving this place 4 stars! It seems so wrong in many ways, notably because it’s also a donut shop and the owners might be Indian! Really? For a Mexican/Salvadorean restaurant? Anyways, my doubts were put to bed as soon as I tasted my meal. Way to go to throw me a curveball. I guess I should have known it was going to be good/authentic after noticing it was frequented by my Latin American brothers! I ordered their Yucca con Chicharron which was delivered to me fairly promptly. Ok, so they don’t make it to order by frying the yucca as needed. Then, I noticed it looked much smaller in size compared to Chalateco. But then I tasted it and I was pleasantly surprised. The yucca was crispy on the outside, tender inside with a good flavor! The pork chunks were much smaller compared to Chalateco but packed so much more flavor. Boy, was I so wrong about this place! Sorry Chalateco, but I’lol be coming here for my Yucca con Chicharron fix!

Good food, Iam salvadorean, i know how is My food, the owner is very friendly, it’s a good place

The food was horrible. I am surprised it has 3 ½ stars given it is dirty and food was not tasty. I do not recommend this place. We had pupusas and tacos. They also sell donuts. Maybe those are OK but given how dirty the bathroom was I would never eat there again.

I’m used to eating good pupusas but sometimes I don’t feel like driving to San Francisco. The pupusas and La Cabaña are really good. The«don’t store/Pupuseria» is not what you expect. But the pupusas are really good!

Excellent food. I am vegetarian so I ordered the Zucchini and Cheese pupusa and the Bean and Cheese pupusa. Both were amazing but I liked the Bean and Cheese the best. The beans aren’t made with lard. The owner is a lovely welcoming lady. I also grabbed a dozen donuts for my office and they’re yummy. I’m glad I found this place.

I really wanted to love this place. The lady that owns it is very sweet and the customer service was good, but the food not so much. The pupusas were good enough. Nothing great and I wouldn’t come back. They all had a good amount of cheese. The bean one had beans, the zucchini had zucchini, the chicken had chicken. There have been pupusarias that are light on the ingredients. This place was good about filling up the pupusas, but there was still some flavor missing. Also, the curtido was just bad. It’s supposed to be pickled/fermented in vinegar, but here it is fresh cabbage, carrots, and some pepper. It’s not the same thing. The curtido is supposed to compliment the pupusas, but it didn’t. The donuts were terribly dry. I think they may have been a few days old. They were not soft… just hard. I didn’t try anything else here. Maybe the rest of the food is better, but the pupusas just didn’t cut it for me.

Super friendly owners… shockingly they are of Indian but they have a Salvadorian worker who makes the Pupusas. The lady who helped us even speaks Spanish! My co worker and I came here after craving some Pupusas, the lady even gave us free donuts to try. It seems the business for her has slowed down as she mentioned to us, but its good to see hardworking folks like her and her husband who work in the front part of the shop. The pupusas itself were delicious and crispy. The slaw was not overly pickled and still crunchy. They give you a salsa mixture to put on top as well, my suggestion would be to have an awesome hot sauce with it and you have a winner! I definitely would go back because of the service. Kind and friendly people, make for an awesome experience!

The cabbage and carrot topping are supposed to be pickled to be authentic not raw. So the pupusas lacked the authentic flavor that makes them good. Plus, the owner is Indian, not El Salvadorian. Plus I saw she dropped a donut on the floor and put it back in the case. No air conditioning. The good… Actual pupusas served hot with generous cheese and fillings. The owner is very nice and service is good.

I love this place. Since i am from the coast of Colombia i love to eat fish. This is the only restaurant where i have found great tilapias. The pupusas are awesome. The fried plantains delicious. The chicken mmm. The fried yuca with chicharron amazing. I love everything from the menu. I recommended this place to a Peruvian friend and he is in love with it now. Highly recommended. The donuts are great too. The services is nice, the people are very friendly.

I am having mixed reviews with this place personally. Why? Because it was good food, bad stomach pains afterwards. The food ordering process was that we had to order our food first so that it could be prepped before we could order our donuts. Isn’t that weird? 4 people had to put in their order then go back to place the donut order afterwards. Well I had to order the 2 pupusa and the tamale combo. I had my shrimp and chese pupusa order. Oh man! They were delicious! The vegetables that were out in it was amazingly done! However the tamale, it’s supposed to be a 2 tamale special, I asked for chicken and corn… my corn tamale came, however my chicken was a chicken pupusa… I asked where my chicken tamale was, she said I asked for the special and it was a chicken pupusa not tamale. Dude– that’s not what it says on the board overhead! The rice it came with was managing. I love the vegetable taste in it rather than a tomato rice taste. The donut holes were good too. Now the problem after all that good food? As we were walking my friend Ekiti started having stomach pains. Then my friend Shuancy. We had already dropped off Melvin… and they asked me to text him to see if his stomach was hurting. He said YES. Now I didn’t feel any pain at all until we were shopping about an hour later. I doubled over as I was paying the cashier to the point of her asking if I needed to go to the hospital… Usually when your stomach hurts, you run to the restroom? … the pain was literally only PAINS! Just my stomach pinching and pulling and twisting. It hurt like hell. Food good, results, bad.

Today me and my coworkers went to this sauna and Im still dealing with the results! Let me start from the top, when we first walked in it took the lady 5 minutes to come from the back and greet us. Once she did she was really nice and explained the different meal options. We ordered a couple Papusas, tamales, a dozen donut holes, and fried plantains. The food was priced reasonably, food for four folks was about 43 $, papusas were 2.50 each. While we waited we ate the donut holes which were cool. They weren’t totally covered in glaze, but they were fresh. The dining room was clean, but the tables were really close together. They have two flat screen tvs that were showing spanish programs on BOTH tvs. Now the whole time we’re waiting for our food we’re sweating to death. The entire group drank their drinks before the food came… boo. The said part about all of this is the fact they had 5 ceiling fans, but not one was on despite the fact we asked twice to turn them on. Now after waiting about 15 minutes our food shows up. The papusas were delicious and you could taste the freshness. The plantains were really tasty, but they were super greasy. About two hours after we left we all got a serious tummy ache. I would suggest popping a beano before you head here!

Can’t speak for the donuts, but the pupusas are delicious and authentic. Not to mention well priced! Pro tip: handmade pupusas take a little while to make, so call ahead!

Ew are you kidding me? This place is bad. This place is so bad. So oily. So dirty. And they charge a lot for being so crappy. I ordered some steak tacos, cheese pupusas, and plantains. So. Gross. So. Oily. Not to mention, the tables were sticky and it took 25 minutes for us to get our food. The only thing that was good was the warm horchata.

I came with about 15 friends and we basically overtook the restaurant for the last hour and a half it was open. The one guy at the counter took really great care of us! 5 stars for the service — we only realized afterwards that it was this ONE guy taking orders, cooking the food, and serving us. We all stayed late, maybe 20 minutes after closing just talking and he was very patient with us. He even brought us all a huge tray of free donuts — all their leftover munchkins! They were a little dry and the glaze a little too hardened, but free is always delicious =). The pupusas themselves were solid — not the best I’ve had. The dough is a little dense, so the inside is more gooey and the outside has a pretty hard crisp. Don’t get me wrong, I like a good crisp, but this was a little too much contrast. I got the beef & the pork — there also wasn’t as much meat as I’d like, especially with the beef which was just completely drowned in the cheese. * Beef & pork pupusa — 3 stars A friend got the chicken soup — it ended up being a huge bowl of broth and a separate entire rotisserie chicken, plus a couple smaller plain pupusas! He was not prepared to eat so much so I helped out. The chicken was pretty good & moist, with the skin having a good crisp — 3.5 stars.
