Great customer service by Sandy! Very friendly and attentive, she recommended what to eat and places to visit. She took care of me the entire time. The baked oysters were the best!!!

My wife and I recently went here on a Friday night. We were seated fairly early in the evening and had a table on the back porch. The theme of the restaurant is a bit coastal low country and they did this well. We ordered a dozen raw oysters to start. It is getting pretty late in the season for warm water oysters for me, so we stuck with the cold water ones from the east coast. They were great and the mignonette was as good as I have had. We also ordered the fried seafood starter. The snapper and oysters were excellent, but the shrimp was over cooked. The gribiche(fancy name for tarter sauce) was good. For entrees, I had the grouper and my wife had a crab cake. Both were very good, but possibly a little pricy for what it was. Part of that is probably the price of eating in the heart of Mountain Brook. My only complaint was that, as the night went on, all of the tables filled up. Multiple seatings at the same time gave our waiter far too many to be attentive to and we ended up waiting for 20 minutes with cleared plates and empty glasses waiting for a dessert menu. In the end, I didn’t order dessert because I didn’t want to draw out the slow service anymore. I will eat here again, but if the staff is that overworked again and I am left wondering where my refill or check is, it will probably be my last.

Went there with a group of women who all ordered drinks and meals. I opted for a bowl of soup and water. At the end of the meal the waiter said they don’t generate a bill for everyone that only do one bill for table. He did finally agree to split ticket evenly for each guest which caused me to pay $ 37 for my bowl of soup. This shouldn’t be a «policy» for restaurants. With computing as easy as it is today, I can’t believe they force their patrons to have one ticket. And this«policy» should have been made communicated ahead of ordering, so i could opted for nothing and/or to leave. I didn’t want to order and pay for their over priced meals which is why I ordered just an appetizer. So everyone but me got to eat a meal with drinks and I ended up paying for theirs. Will never go back or recommend.

We went to the nice area of Mountain Brook for a business dinner and had a great time. We were seated in the heated patio section which had a nice feel to it. We had a party of 8 and the picnic-bench style seats were good for our group. There is a long list of draft beers available and the server was good about keeping our drinks full. We all opted to have seafood here and everyone was happy with their orders. I had the snapper which came with the best grits I’ve ever had. They were creamy, tasty, just perfect. We also had some fried oysters and claws as appetizers. All good. The bread basket to start also had a nice variety. You got an elegant/upscale presentation of food. Quality and quantity were just right and yet at the same time, a relaxed atmosphere at least in the outdoor dining area. We all shared good food, drink, and laughs. I really enjoyed the seafood here and those grits were amazing.

Excellent place to eat for a nice dinner! I had the shrimp and grits and they were great. Slightly smaller portion than I expected but it was delicious. I also had an appetizer, the something salad. It was crab and it was amazing. Service was quick and the waiter seemed like he knew the menu like the back of his hand. We sat on the covered patio. It is heated in the winter I guess and it felt great. I would definitely go again.

I just had my first visit there recently, Saturday night 8pm reservation. When we arrived, there were many own tables. It was quite cold this night yet we were seated at the 4 top right at the door. I thought perhaps we were seated there because the others were reserved. That was not the case since only one table was seated after us. I love the«low country» theme. I wish there had been something for an appetizer outside of salads and crab claws. We had the crab claws. Such an unsophisticated thing to eat on a date. But I went with it. The battered ones were more enjoyable than the others. I had the shrimp and grits. It was lovely. Very unlike any other I’ve had. I prefer a more Cajun flair but they were really good. My dates meal looked divine. I would have loved to taste it and see for myself. Too bad he was rude and didn’t even offer me a bite.(Not surprising since he didn’t open any doors or ask to be seated somewhere not in the draft and he took the warmest seat away from the door.) The wine list was most unfamiliar to me, but I did enjoy the Chardonnay we chose and it paired nicely with my meal. The beignet dessert offering was really delicious. I wished I could have tried all the desserts, they all sounded really tasty. The service was adequate but nothing to rave about. The décor is really disjointed and doesn’t really jive with the menu and the way the servers are dressed. They look like something out of a diner yet this place is supposed to be upscale. We were treated to some country Christmas cd on repeat. Being serenaded by Blake Shelton on repeat while eating such a lovely meal was unusual. The experience of being in this restaurant didn’t match the experience I was having with what was on my plate. I want to give 4 stars. I really do. And for the food, I would. But the hostess needs to be given some hospitality lessons and reminded to smile, this is Alabama not New York. She should also know not to seat anyone in the least desirable tables when there are better tables open. Would love to see server uniforms or dress code updated to reflect the style attempted with the edgy southern menu and the attempted updated décor inside. And would love to see appropriate music in place, music that really made the total experience enjoyable.

Low country cuisine in the heart of Crestline. Bend a perceptive ear towards the other tables, and you’ll hear about all the goings-on at the club, not to mention hushed speculation about who is cavorting with the tennis pro at the Motel Birmingham in Irondale. Speaking of tables, Dyron’s is divided into two separate dining areas. Enter the front and you are in the area reserved for blue bloods with all the attendant panache. Upon entering, you will be inspected for Brooks Brothers clothing. The hostess will frog-march those who don’t pass muster off to ghetto on the right, where one either eats at a picnic table or a 70s dinette set evidently picked up at Big Lots during clearance. I mean, these tables are tiny. As in the-bread-tray-couldn’t-fit-on-the-table-along-with-our-plates kind of tiny. This area does have a nice fireplace, so there’s that. But seated in the Dyron’s ghetto, I couldn’t help being reminded of family Easter dinners of yore when my 22-year-old self was consigned to the card table in the back with seven-year old cousins who made fart jokes continuously. Service is kind of an interesting mix. The person who filled our water glasses proceeded to miss a glass and soak the butcher paper table cloth. Instead of moving us to another Big Lots table, she instead just blotted up the water with a towel and folded over the paper. On the other hand, our waiter was a cheerful guy who took orders with aplomb and gave spot-on suggestions. Food was awfully good. My martini was made with élan. I had gumbo for an appetizer, venison for the entrée and beignets for dessert. My wife had the trout. No complaints there. Not quite Highlands level, but good enough for a Friday night with friends. So four stars for the grub and a star deducted for being seated in the Dyrons ghetto. Fix up that area and I’d add a star on my next visit.

We took a group of friends from out of town to Dyron’s on Friday 11⁄6. The bar is always set high for this restaurant, but somehow they exceeded expectations. Trout, grouper, red snapper, and fried chicken were all phenomenal, but the selection of oysters, none of which were from the gulf, were out of this world.

This was our first visit. This place had a very nice ambiance. Our waitress Carrier was awesome. She made some great recommendations for our meal. I had the pheasant and my wife had the pork porterhouse. Our meal took a little long but our waitress brought us a delicious wedge salad with buttermilk dressing. That was by far one of the best salads we ever had. Our dinner came and WOW. The pheasant with freshly made pasta was out of this world. I also tried the porterhouse and it was just as tasty and so tender. We then topped it off with the bread pudding. Crunchy on the outside and smooth and creamy on the inside. Our waitress made our first visit outstanding. We will be back.

Food — Great. Cocktails — Crap. Service — Terrible I wouldn’t say I know everything about the service industry, but being a server and a hostess myself in the past I do know some of the proper etiquette in turning tables over quickly. It took our server 15 minutes to even come to our table and welcome us and take drink orders. It then took another 25 to get our beverages, another 20 before she came and took our orders(didn’t write anything down), and we didn’t see her until she brought our food an hour later. We ordered a ‘shareable side’ that she forgot to ring in, and we were already more than half way finished with our meals when she comes over to see if the side had come, and it had not. She apologized and said it would be on the house, but when they came we were ready for the check.(Meanwhile, during all of this, our server has checked on the table right next to us numerous times throughout their evening.) She took our plates and again it took 15 minutes to get our check. Shame. Probably won’t be back.

We went on New Year’s Eve with a couple friends — our third time overall — and they were very accommodating when we had to alter our reservation party size the night before. Prompt, attentive(but not too attentive), friendly service. Good alcohol, wine and beer selection. I had the buttermilk fried chicken and although it was not quite what I expected(bone-in) it was delicious. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The décor and ambiance is welcoming and comfortable. Great place for a special occasion or just a weekend night out. Everyone we have brought to Dyron’s has loved it! One of our favorite restaurants in Birmingham. We will keep coming back!

.@Dyrons_Bham Only the second time we have been here. First time was after dinner elsewhere for a couple glasses of wine. This time we had reservations. Seating was OK booth close to the bar which could of been crowded if it had been like the last time we were there. But tonight it was not as bad. Started out with a wedge salad for my wife and I had the Fall Mushroom & Leek Soup Black Trumpets, Porcinis, Shitakes, Truffle Oil Soup was very good esp on a cold November night. Mushrooms and leeks blended to a nice purée. Main course was for @tfergette Hickory Grilled Hereford Beef Tenderloin Buttery Mashed Potatoes, Wilted Spinach, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Crabmeat Hollandaise which was very good. I had Buttermilk Fried Tanglewood Farms Chicken Farmer’s Market Collard Greens, Smoked Cheddar Mac & Cheese, Pan Gravy. They were both very good and too much too eat at one sitting. We took half of each entrée home and left very satisfied. Dessert was Warm Chocolate Molten Cake Cappuccino Ice Cream which we split. The staff was very attentive and our water glass was always full and when our wine got low a refill was always on the way. All in all a very nice date night Expect to spend a few coins but coins well spent.

Excellent seafood. Locally sourced food, which is a big plus. Service(both hostess and waiter) was slow at our Sunday brunch, which accounts for me giving only four stars. Food def gets a five out of five!

An upscale neighborhood bar and restaurant that provides a wide variety of appetizers and entries. I tried the lamb shank which was outstanding. Started off with the blue point oysters which I would recommend. This is a great place to meet friends or for a family gathering.

We read reviews prior to coming to this place on a rare date night and were excited to try it. Though it was a big football night and the restaurant was not crowed, we(with reservations) were placed at a first-come bar area where we were subjected to the usual loud chatter of people falling over themselves to be impressive to their bar-mates. Most of the dining tables were open, but we were not able to move. Overall, the food is not bad, especially for someone on major salt and flavor restrictions. The food is hardly seasoned. My wife had a beef tenderloin that was good. I had a flounder over Hoppin-john which was about what I could do on my grill at home. The beer was room temperature; the service was almost non-existent — although we did see our server lavish attention on folks who appeared to be regulars. A couple of friends we ran into on the way said basically the same thing. I felt like they were doing us a favor by serving us. Bottom line — for the level of service and quality of food, we’d probably come back if this place was priced at low-end chain-type pricing like a Logan’s or Olive Garden. But for the very high prices they charge, we’d rather go to a real professional restaurant like Highland’s, Bottega, Hot and Hot or Dupont’s.

I have always liked Dyron’s but had not been in awhile. The menu has been updated and the food is absolutely delicious! Several of our group had the veal Scallopine topped with crab meat and served with plenty of delicious vegetables. Service was great. The enclosed deck is a wonderful addition.
