Oh man that was a lot of food! Ok, i’d been here like years ago on some blind bender and really couldn’t have given much of a useful review, but I returned yesterday as the rain was pouring down and it seemed like a great cup of coffee was gonna happen in a place like this. So true. Staff was all smiles from the get and the coffee was, well, in our waitresses hand as she led us to our table. It was an omen. So I get a look at the menu and it has every Diner classic on there, only thing missing was Paul Riser in a skinny tie gabbing endlessly. I digress. The specials sheet was so big it was on legal size paper and had most of the menu, it seemed, on it. I went with the Gyro Platter, Salad with Greek Dressing and some Chicken Pot Pie Soup. Soup came first and it was thick and hearty with a great homestyle broth with good portions of all of its ingredients. Shortly after came the Salad and it had the type of Greek Dressing that is the pink stuff. I like the pink stuff, so this is a good start. Two bites into the Salad and the Entrée arrives. not the best timing. I don’t care because it arrives on 2 oblong dishes that span my side of the booth. First platter has Diced Tomato, Onion and Tzatziki Sauce. The second platter has the Pita slices and Gyro Meat, a LOT of Gyro Meat. Couldn’t get over that it was a deconstructed Gyro that reminded me of Fajitas at Chili’s… except Greek. Did I mention it came with Dessert?

I love this place. It reminds me of the family joints my Pop used to take us to in the 70’s, something(and someone) I miss very much. There’s a soul-soothing quality that envelops me when I find myself in a vinyl booth with a heapin’ hot plate in front of me and a waitress that calls me «Hon». Dee Dee’s sure delivers. The food is simple and hearty, and the staff couldn’t be nicer. Photos of the patrons’ kids are collaged on the wall… it’s that kind of place. I feel at home here, saying hi to my Dad with a smiling kid peering at me over the booth here and a forkful of omelet(or pasta, or saganaki) there. Chain joints be damned-I’ll take Ma & Pa’s like this any day.

Awesome service! My favorite breakfast restaurant even when it’s not breakfast time. Best dish is the Country Scramble: scrambled eggs topped with a sausage patty, sausage gravy on two halves of a country biscuit. Great cooks there too :)

Good place for a little quickie breakfast. I view these types of restaurants as breakfast only gigs. I figure, how bad can you screw up some eggs, toast, coffee, and what not. It was close, it was open, and it was cheap. I left satisfied and full. There are ton of places like it in the area, serving the same purpose. I’d go again!
