What a wonderful and unique name for a place. Unfortunately the name alone sets the bar for high expectations. the place ends up being a mear sports bar with very uncomfortable tables and chairs. The menu was short but I choose a burger. The 3 stars is fully for the burger and side of potato salad it came with. the burger was thick and juicy and came topped with pimento cheese and these amazing pickles on top of the bun. The potato salad was chunky and flavorful. Wish this place had a decore to match the name. I def prob order takeout from this place and skip dinning in. the manager did come around to tables and was very personabl

We wandered by the Loaded Goat and peeked in the windows and decided to give it a try. I thought the décor was a nice balance between sports bar and restaurant. We were seated at a table by one of the large windows looking out to the brick building across the street. The narrow street you are next to is a main walkway from a large public parking lot so it’s nice to people watch. We ordered an appetizer — the fried pickles — wow were they good. The batter actually had a taste of its own and the pickles were nice and tart. The sauce that comes with them is really good and rounds out the yummy taste. My fiancé and I both got the fried catfish sandwich, and we couldn’t believe what was placed before us… a bun with 2 huge, thick fried pieces of catfish sitting on a bed of coleslaw. The filets were obviously fried in house because these neither looked nor tasted like any frozen filet on the planet. It was delicious. It came with your choice of sides but after consuming the sandwich I barely touched the fries I ordered but my other half assured me they were good, too. We both got iced tea and it tasted fresh. Our server was very attentive and polite. We never had an empty glass. The owner did stop and chat, but I feel that an owner who is present and inquisitive is most likely one who is involved with his business and cares which is often not the case these days. In addition the restrooms were spotless. Next time we are in the area we will return.

Our first visit to The Loaded Goat was surprisingly fantastic considering the reviews that were unfavorable. So glad we gave it a try and were not disappointed. The burgers were the best we have had since moving back to NC last year. The service was very good something that lacks at some other establishments. We will certainly support this local business in «Mayberry». The name is brilliant and is not to be missed. It takes time to get a restaurant up and running smoothly. I wish this establishment much success and we hope to enjoy many burgers and watch sports in the future. Thank you for a wonderful experience. See you soon!

I gave The Loaded Goat a second chance since our initial trip here was during their opening week. I understand that a new restaurant will have hurdles in the beginning. On our first visit the burgers were amazing! The loaded lattice chips were terrible!!! Very sloppy and a nothing more than a bag of crumbled chips with toppings dumped on them. Tonight our food took even longer than our initial visit here(a busy weekend night versus tonight a slow Monday night). Burgers were RARE. We waved the owner down and showed him the burgers and he immediately argued the burgers are medium and we shouldn’t order medium burgers… squishy, cold, red and still bleeding is not medium! We tried the loaded nachos tonight… again very disappointing! Burnt nacho chips with sloppy toppings. The appetizers we have tried are very poorly plated and very small portions at a premium price. Side salads came out at the end of our meal. The burger did get recooked and served with the comment«I hope this is more to your liking.» Indeed the burger was more to his liking. It was not raw :) I feel like our check should have reflected our experience! And a hot dog…$ 1 per topping? Really? We are not picky people who freak out over a little pink or undercooked food on a regular basis. The service is extremely slow and wait staff is not very attentive. Panthers game on and empty… unfortunately I understand why.

Found this place during one of our trips to the mountains from NENC. We went in around 6pm with a party of 7 and we were told it would be 45 mins. We found that odd because a empty table for 8 was empty along with other empty tables. So we left. As we were leaving town I walked back in at aroumd 7:30 and the same table was empty. Obviously the owner knows nothing about business or just saves tables for his buddies. He missed out on a $ 200 plus tab and the servers a fat tip. We won’t stop again we’ll just support another business that wants customers.

Mount Airy desperately needs a good new restaurant. This is not it. Where do I begin? The ambiance, if I may use that word, is non-existent. They claim to be a sports bar, but have no sports memorabilia and the kind of stuff that goes in those places. The wait staff is clueless and irritating; the owner worse. Our food was okay. It was exactly what we expected from the uninspired menu. This seemed like an awkward and unlikely place for a restaurant when it was Trio, and it hasn’t gotten any better. It’s too bad. Won’t somebody please open a good restaurant in Mount Airy!!!

The service was awful! The food was dry, cold and way too salty and the loaded potato chips don’t even start. save your money.

So, thanks to some snooping by my friends in the FBI(or friends with computers), I have known this place was coming for quite some time. I’ve been counting the days as we really need a place like this around here. I have had a chance to eat here twice now. Both times were AWESOME! The food is great, the service is super and the atmosphere can’t be matched here in Mount Airy! The proprietor is always welcoming and genuinely interested in how everything was. I can’t wait until I can get in one night and have some more Jumbo Pretzel Sticks. Oh, and they have the very best burger in town!

We had seen it on the Internet a few days before it opened and we had to try it. On Monday, 3 days after opening, we could tell they were off to a great start. You walk in to a nice building, and you are greeted by a lovely atmosphere. The service was amazing, the waitress that served us was attentive and very kind. We ordered the potato skins for our appetizer. Came out in a snap; best ones we’ve ever had. Soon after, our chicken sandwiches and burgers came. Some got the ‘Carolina Burger’ while I got a ‘Chicken Club’ and my mom got a ‘Buffalo Chicken Sandwich’. Best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had. Everybody else loved their burgers, and said they were one of the best burgers they’ve had. The fries were golden brown, crispy on the outside, fluffy potato on the inside. They were amazing. So, we loved our visit at the Loaded Goat. We will be returning soon, and I recommend this to anybody! Great job! –Robert
