The Mayberry Jail was constructed in the late 1890’s and was the site of the police and fire departments for Mt. Airy, until 1979. Barney’s squad card is a restored 1962 Ford Galaxy 500.
Now the building holds different offices. You can go in and walk through a very run down ‘jail’, hardly worth going inside. You def have to get your photo taken standing next to that cool car tho!
