Great food. A much better and fresher halal version of pita inn. It is middle eastern home style cooking. Unbelievable deal of getting two chicken shawarma sandwiches for $ 6.95. Great lunch special which is a smaller version of the combo meal. Gyros sandwich and roast beef wraps are tasty. I wish I had discovered them earlier. A true gem for middle-eastern food lovers. My favorite or recommendations: Combination plate Chicken Shawarma sandwiches Lunch Special Gyros Sandwich Roast Beef wrap

Run down. Beat up. Not clean. Actually, dirty. Old shitty unused fixtures sitting around. Coolers half empty. Pita bread microwaved. Hummos bland. Chicken Shawerma that hit the spit originally 3 – 4 days ago. People behind counter unwilling to say hello, thank you, or goodbye. Would be fine if we were in the slums of Cairo. We re not. As an Arab American, its embarrassing to see a place like this. Maybe the owners should sell the business to someone who cares or visit Pita Inn to learn about running a classy business. Maybe that is why we were only ones here. I hate to shit on people but id say take your business to someone who works harder to earn it.

So took a local peep to try it out(been before numerous times and have eaten their food at local events in Morton Grove) and do a lil comparison to other Middle Eastern restaurants in the area. Had the large Baba Ghanouj and took a 1⁄3 home(by choice!) as it was refrigerated by fresh as can be and the spices is what makes it a special light green color; much different than others. Friend orders the Chicken Shawerma and eats about a 1⁄3 of her meal and LOVED it. Huge portions, a lil on the spicy side her but enjoyed it better than other restaurants and thought it was very authentic and even tried comparing it to Greek Chicken Souvlaki which is different taste altogether. She had a side of the hummus and felt it wasn’t that thick in comparison and will DEFINATELY be back now that she knows of another little secret in Morton Grove.

After one of my favorite Mediterranean places closed I was so excited to find Rayan! First time I ate there I fell in love! I now eat at Rayan regularly. They have really great food, I especially enjoy the beef shawerma wrap. It is juicy and flavorful! AND my absolute favorite is the hummus!!! Best in the area in my opinion!!!

Pretty good food, not much ambiance, the service is a little slow but a Groupon $ 12 — $ 20 worth of food made it worth while

Rayan is a small Mediterranean grocery with a small dine-in section. We tried for lunch a beef shawarma pita($ 6.45) and their lunch special($ 6.95 for chicken shawarma, chicken kabobs, kifta, and one falafel with yellow rice and a small salad). The prices are cheap for the portions here but the quality we got went with it, thus the ok 3 star rating. The falafel, rice, and chicken were cold and dry. The beef sharwarma was lukewarm as was everything else. I think one reviewer noted the place is going downhill, and maybe it is — or we experienced an off day. The small dine-in section is clean and it is nice to have a big screen HDTV in place to catch up on CNN news and such over lunch. The place might be worth one more try someday for a cheap lunch as they do offer, for example, two chicken shawarma wraps for $ 6.95.

I think this is the smallest middle eastern grocery store that I would almost hesitate to even call one. I mean this is really small. If you’ve seen the one near Reza’s in uptown that includes a ton of baked goods or the Pita Inn Market, you’d be quite disappointed. There’s a photo that includes probably half to ¾ of the grocery store. The rest is casual tables to eat in. With that said, the food is ok. Not amazing, but ok. Their baba ghanoush is excellent and deserving of praise — absolutely made the 3 stars by itself. The falafel sandwiches however were… strange and noticeably bland. I like that everyone uses their own seasonings for falafel but here they were exceptionally greasy and just… devoid of spice. I won’t be coming here again. It’s not«Awful», it’s just not worth it vs Pita Inn, I’d say.

This is my go-to place in Morton Grove. The Chicken Shwarma and beef kebobs are my personal favorite. Friendly, fast service, generous portions and great value.

Seemed to me to be very authentic middle eastern food. My husband and I order the different combos. The shawerma combo had beef and chicken with rice. All the food was great. It had so much flavor. The falafel was delicious. It was so fresh and tasty. The combo plate had beef and chicken kabob and kifta. That also was wonderful. The staff seemed shy but friendly. Prices were reasonable. I will definitely go back again for more!

Just went last night and was amazed with the taste and services offered by the staff… we took chicken shawrma wrap and a combo plater along with falafel and hummus as well as baba ganush… chicken wrap and platter was delicious and juicy. Everything else was good, well cooked and food quantity was too much. We truly like this place and last but not least this place taste way too delicious then the nearby Mediterranean places… i m loving it…

Got a groupon and this place was down the street from my house, so hey lets support the local business right? If they’re good I’ll come back. I’m a fan of pita inn and I keep hearing their pita inn is just mediocre Mediterranean food so I wanted to try some real Mediterranean food. I had the kefta kebab and some falafel. The food took forever to come out… which I did not mind if the food was going to amazing. The falafel was meh… ok it had too much of this one particular spice that overwhelms the falafel. The kebab was over cooked, dry, and was burnted. Wife had the gyro. It was cut thick so it did not dry out which was great. Gyro is gyro so you can’t mess that up. The bab ganoush was pretty good. It had that roasted smell to it which I really enjoyed.

Came in for the lunch special, was pleasantly surprised that I could swap the Mediterranean salad in place of the rice for no extra charge. Food definitely deserves four stars, was delicious. Loved the fresh veggies they used in the salad. My only complaint is that the falafel was over fried and too hard on the outside. As others have stated, there’s not much in the way of ambiance here, it is a small Arab grocery, lit with fluorescent bulbs with a few tables. Though I ate in, this makes a much better carry out. This is a great alternative to Pita Inn.

So this place is ok. I had the veggie platter. It included tabouleh salad, baba ghanouj, hummus, pita bread and 1 falafel. Just 1. Tabouleh salad was tasty, baba ghanouj ok, hummus was not good, I’m not sure why but it was kind of cakey? Strange maybe they mixed it with something. Anyway, I usually finish everything I eat and I just couldn’t do it:( bright side — They have fresh juices. I had the freshly squeezed orange juice and that was super delicious!

Food here is ok. It definitely is no pita-inn but it’s close to home. Everything tastes ok but can be really salty. The staff also are not that friendly, not mean. just not friendly. The store is super small and doubles as a grocery store as well. I like looking at all the food products I don’t normally see anywhere else while I wait for the food. I will come here if I’m craving mediterranean food take out but I prefer pita-inn.

Besides it being late enough for my rice to start to harden, my falafel was as cold as it can get and the cheese cake had MOLD! gross.

Literally a hidden gem. It’s located in a small strip mall next to the Mexican restaurant on the NW corner of Dempster/Austin that’s easy to miss. But don’t worry, there are 2 entrances to the awkward parking lot. It’s our favorite place for fresh, high-quality, delicious, great value, and healthy Mediterranean food! Juicier meats with more flavor than Pita Inn. They also add a grilled veggie kabob to some of the entrees, and they sprinkle fresh herbs on everything. First of all, it appears to be a grocery store with a restaurant on the side, but it’s really first a restaurant then a grocery store because that’s where they make the money, as you’ll see. Hardly any customers go to the grocery store section, and most of their customers order food for pick-up, as there are only a few seats for dining in. We’ve dined in before; the setting isn’t ideal, but we were starving.

Ordered through GrubHub. I received my order in a timely manner. I ordered the Gyro Plate, the Hummus, and the Yogurt Cucumber Salad. All are delicious and the delivery driver was very polite and helpful. I will be ordering again. Thanks!
