This is a Hampton Inn in need of a face lift. It is quite outdated in the rooms. However the lobby is refreshed. Breakfasts are a on the poor side compared to many other Hampton Inns. They have an affinity for salsa omelette and have been serving it for three mornings straight now. The first morning was enough. The cleaning staff is very noisy in the morning. So if want to past 7:30am it won’t happen. Same for the planes taking off from RDU. Even staying on the 2nd floor does not help because the Windows do not have proper noise insulation for being in close proximity to an airport. Bottom line is that I will not be back.

Walking up it seemed like just another Hampton and it was on the exterior. The lobby however was new and cosmopolitan. I was impressed with the feeling it gave me. Like I could have a meeting or get some work done. This all changed as I got deeper into the hotel. The halls had new carpeting and the wall sconces might have been new, I don’t quite remember. The room immediately smelled of mildew with a hint of wet dog. The furnishing were the same as any other dated Hampton Inn. Maybe there was a new chair, I didn’t notice. The hour was late and I didn’t want to change rooms to go through that hassle. I convinced myself it wasn’t that bad. I ended up opening the laptop to check some emails at the desk and noticed the floor was moist. This explains the mildew smell. Who knows how long that A/C unit has been leaking? I went to bed and let them know at checkout. The front desk was appreciative of the information. Overall, a regular Hampton(clean sheets and hot coffee) hidden behind the curtain of a fancy lobby.

This hotel is located in a complex of hotels near the airport. Though under the flight path, I did not find the planes to be annoying. There are not many late night flights at RDU. Parking is at a premium midweek as all of the hotels are very busy. This hotel appears to be recently renovated. The lobby is modern and spacious and of course includes the standard Hampton Inn breakfast which is more than adequate. A big thumbs up for«robust» coffee and for raw sugar to put in it. The room is well appointed and the bed is very comfortable. The pillows are very comfy but for some reason very small. I would give this five stars for the price except the wifi is very slow. I have noticed in the Hilton brand that free wifi is offered but it has gotten increasingly poor and I assume they want me to upgrade to the paid wifi. This is an annoyance and something the chains should get away from.

Under construction so make sure you know this before you book or make sure the upgrades are finished or your stay may not be what you expect.

Clean rooms, friendly staff and close to the airport; nothing exceptional but sometimes you just need the important stuff to be done right and can forgo the extra.
