I’ve been waiting for my food so long in a nearly empty place at noon(my biggest aha) and the other waitress came to clear my table not realizing I haven’t received my food order yet. Big disappointment to hear waiter at next table apologize for the Waite to the people next to me. Avoid it and try another dim sum place If I could leave zero stars I would

Very disappointing. Food tasted like they were frozen and then microwaved. Dishes that were suppose to be steamed were fried instead. Floor and tables were sticky. Staff was friendly though.

I don’t know why I keep coming back to this place. Cold, mediocre food at best. We asked the waiter to reheat an item and it came back lukewarm. The last 4 visits were a major disappointment and we will not be back. Would rather drive 8 hours north for edible dim sum.

We came here this Friday, the food is not fresh at all. i do not recommend to come on week days. Also, some food are not sufficient enough, just half of the dish…

I came here for Dim Sum many years ago, and I still recall enjoying the food immensely, especially since it was relatively inexpensive! $ 21 for a decent number of items for 3 people! Not sure how it is these days, but I am planning to come back soon now that I have moved back to the area!

Considering there aren’t a whole lot of options in RTP, this place was OK. My husband and I gave it a try since we live close by. It was close to 1 pm. Either we missed the crowd or this place just doesn’t get much foot traffic. There weren’t that many people dining. We had mostly steamed items, some were better than others. The usual shrimp and pork dumplings. We would come again and probably steer clear from the items that weren’t so great. The staff were attentive and polite.

This place used to be so good and crowded on the weekends. Over the years, I have seen a decline in service and food quality. The last time I was there for dinner was the last time I will ever be there. We ordered this combination seafood hot pot. My definition of a hot pot consist of broth. When our hot pot came out, it was dry as a desert and had random ingredients that don’t belong together and a ton of dried whole chilly peppers. I’m an avid foodie and a hot pot expert so I was confused. My mom spoke with the owner and he argued that he had no idea we wanted our hot pot with broth. In the history of hot pots, I have never known it to be dry… ever. The wait time was long and the price was a rip off. What a shame because we don’t have many great dim sum places around here and this used to be my go to place.

I’ve eaten at dim sum house multiple times and really have always been pleased with wait staff, food, atmosphere and price. Can’t miss here!

I love eating Sichuan cuisine, and have frequented many local restaurants such as Gourmet Kingdom, CT Wok, Taipei 101, so I was looking forward to trying this place. Was not dissappointed. For dim sum I ordered the Taro, Shumai, pork turnover, beef/white radish stew, and beef ribs. Everything was very good except for the stew which was way salty. For dim sum, portions were fairly generous and flavor was decent. For entrees ordered the chinese broccoli, fish fillet with pickled vegetable, and shredded pork with tofu. The chinese broccoli wasn’t cooked enough, but the other two dishes had a lot of flavor. The shredded pork(they cook it with doubanjiang sauce) was probably the best I’ve ever had. For all entrees portions were huge, and the prices were extremely reasonable.

Love this place. The food is always hot, fresh, and excellent. Service is pretty good. Maybe the difference is that we tend to come at night after the carts are done so everything is cooked to order. I will say that the hot and sour soup falls more on the hot side and not enough on the sour side, but was still pretty good.

Cold /«have been left out in the cold for a while» dimsum is served here on a Sunday 11am. The dimsum tastes *ok* besides the coldness, but isn’t dimsum supposed to be eaten warm. Also, my boyfriend and I got our credit card information stolen from here. We know this because this was the one and only place that we split checks, and we both got fraudulent transactions on our accounts where the fraudster spent the money in Las Vegas. Coincidence much?

I dont know why we keep coming back to this place! While the service is generally good and the workers are usually friendly,(with the exception of one guy with the black glasses who has a snarky attitude), the quality of the dim sum is just completely lacking, and not to mention, wayy overpriced. Be ready to spend at least $ 20 per person if you go with 3 people. I’ve been here with my family multiple times and each time we keep hoping things would get better, but I think it’s time to throw in the towel and rest our case. The variety is good and you will find all the typical staples. We usually order the chicken feet, steamed pork ribs, sui mai, ha gow, sticky rice in lotus leaf, roast pork buns, custard tarts and a variety of different dumplings… But let me tell you, DONOT order the shanghainese steamed«soup dumplings»!!! They are a total fraud. Straight out of the freezer bags you get from the chinese super market. I know that’s not saying much if you’re not big on soup dumplings and you’ve never had the«real thing», but just keep your expectations in check if you do decide to order these. They’re nothing more than regular pork dumplings with a few drops of «soup». The radish cake seemed like a good idea at first, but they serve it on a paper doily that always gets soaked by all the oil and pieces always end up in your mouth. Yuck. Who wants to eat greasy paper?! Each time we’ve been here, there’s always a plate of food that is cold. I mean ‘straight out of the fridge’ cold… and don’t expect them to replace the dish(what most restaurants would do). They simply pop it into the microwave for 2 minutes and re-serve it to you! Maybe I’m spoiled by all the great food being from nyc, but this place is just not up to par in my opinion. I wish there were more options in the area, but for now, we’ll rely on our trips back up north for some decent dim sum. 2 stars for the good service.

The last time I had dim sum, I was a kid with an unrefined palette. Now that my taste buds are Unilocal-sophisticated, I was excited to have dim sum again. While the Unilocal reviews for this place are not particularly positive, I had optimism. Hope springs eternal until you dine at Dim Sum House. An imponderable question quickly arose — Why did every single item have to stick to the paper on which it was served? Couldn’t they use a small amount of oil to prevent this? I wish the tastes made up for this, but almost every dish that I tried ran the gamut from mediocre to decently good. I was shocked and disappointed at how their bok choy dish was more bitter than Kim Kardashian when Bette Midler called her out on Twitter. To add insult to mediocrity, the green tea wasn’t even good. It tasted metallic, and I don’t think that is the intended flavor. The Guangdong style clams were the sole highlight of the meal. These clams are tossed in garlic, chili, ginger, and soy sauce for a slightly spicy and savory flavor. The $ 10 price tag felt slightly steep, but still worth it for the bold flavors. At ~$ 3.50 for most dishes, I expect my taste buds to be tantalized and satisfied as much as if I bought 3 McDoubles. I loved the Guangdong style clams, and was thoroughly underwhelmed by everything else. Dim Sum House is a decent meal, but it’ll surely disappoint those who expect a lot. A daring businessman needs to come rescue the Triangle from its current lack of good Dim Sum.

Its been a LONG time since wifey and I have been to Dim Sum House. We used to go almost every weekend. But, as many other reviews will tell you, they went through a really bad period. Poor service, utterly disappointing food. We gave up, figuring DSH was through. We stopped eating dim sum altogether for a while, then Golden Palace was good for about 7 minutes, and then we rediscovered the Hong Kong in Durham, which used to be awful, but has turned things around and is now fantastic. But due to recent positive reviews, we decided to take another look at Dim Sum House. We went this morning, and it was WONDERFUL. There’s been an obvious shift in management again, and both food and service were top notch. But more than good, the food was legitimately interesting. Of course there’s the standard har gow and shiu mai, pork buns and spring rolls. But there were also things you don’t see on every dim sum table… juicy buns(aka Soup Dumplings), interesting bowls of noodles, and shrimp dumplings with fish eggs in them. Best of all, the food was clearly prepared with care(pork buns were almost bursting with pork). Its so great to see a restaurant come back again. DSH has our business again, and we’re thrilled!

By far the best dim sum place in Triangle area. Everything is home made. No frozen food. More variety and fresher than Hongkong. The weekend dim sum cart is definitely the most homey experience for me. You could pick freshly made dim sum right from the cart. It also has congee, soy milk and 油条 which you need to order for kitchen to prepare. Among all the dim sum, my favorite was shrimp dumplings虾饺. Their shrimp is very fresh. Definitely a good place to have Chinese style brunch at weekends.

Surprisingly to know that Dim Sum at NC… However, it is not as good as I expected. Rice-chicken is the worst I ever ate, almost no chicken in the rice. Service is okay, and a variety of dim sum to choose, and the price is okay. Trust me, best dim sum always locates in the metropolitan, such as New York, Seattle and LA.

Came here today with a bunch of friends. I’ve never had Dim Sum in NC before so I can only compare with Dim Sum from MI. First of all, they have several carts that they push around the place. Each cart only has certain items on it. For example, you can only get Xiaolongbao from the steamed cart. There were 6 of us so we ordered a lot of food. But I’ll start off with my favorite, which is the Xiaolongbao or Juicy Bun as Dim Sum House likes to call it. The literal translation is little dragon bun. But it’s a soup dumpling with pork. Note, this is a bit more fatty which is why it tastes so good. A good Xiaolongbao is when you bite into it, the juices should just explode in your mouth. My 2nd favorite would have to be the shrimp dumpling or Ha Gau(in Cantonese) and Xia Jiau(in Mandarin). The skin was perfect and the shrimp was nice and bouncy when you bite into it. Next, we ordered the shrimp rice roll which was absolutely fantastic. It’s served in a shallow pool of soy sauce which helps add flavor. Some of my American friends weren’t used to the rice wrap simply due to the gelatinous texture which Chinese people love. Being Chinese, I had to order Chicken Feet or Feng Zhua(in Mandarin) which literally translates to Phoenix Claws. I have to get this every time I get dim sum. First bite and I get a burst of flavor. The chicken feet has a unique texture as well, rubbery but in a good way. Usually, they first deep fry the chicken feet and then simmer in a black bean sauce. Sadly, most of my American friends did not try it but they don’t know what they’re missing! Overall, this place is definitely legit. I’m giving it my stamp of approval and I’ll be taking my parents here next time they’re in town.

Fresh perspective from a Unilocaler that has not been to this place before changed ownership. Further disclaimer: I am Cantonese American and have had dim sum in NY, LA, SF, and HK. Moving to NC, I was incredibly worried that my Asian taste buds would be tarnished by one-star Asian food. I was hopeful when I heard there were some decent Asian joints here in the area, including DSH. Came with friends for DINNER on Saturday night. Whoa. I have never had DS for dinner! It was like Chinese breakfast for dinner. From lowering my expectations, this place was what I had imagined NC dim sum to be; expensive, mediocre, and not wowzing your tastebuds. It was very quiet during the evening and the atmosphere was not your typical loud, Canto yelling, cart-pushing aunties, and wait for some tea and snacks. We got the standard several dishes, some which were only served on weekends, and they helps curb my dim sum fix. Har gow(shrimp dumpling) and Siew Mai(pork and shrimp dumpling) were available and not terrible. My favorites were the fried taro root with pork, pork turnover, and the chives and shrimp roll(?). Would recommend if you NEED some dim sum, stat. Otherwise wait for trips to ATL and/or NY!

I know it’s a good spot when my husband instantly starts to compare it to his favorite dim sum spot from the PNW! He said if his old favorite was a 10, this would be a solid 8.5 — and for the NC area, that’s pretty amazing for Asian food! We still haven’t found several suitable ‘replacements’ now that we have a new home base, but this has serious potential! We arrived shortly after they opened and were pleased to see a large parking lot, and it was great to not have to wait for a table either. The staff is super friendly here too.(Our old spot had a teeny parking lot, the wait was impossible unless arriving right when they opened, and the staff was iffy — why’d we like it so much? The food was amazing.) We cautiously chose a few selections from the first cart, hoping for the best… and it was good! My toddler loved the shu mai and a fried pumpkin and sweet bean pancake the best(that pumpkin thing was a great surprise!). I was SOHAPPY to find a dim sum place here that has shrimp in rice noodles too — that’s my FAVORITE dish and they do it just fine here(yay!!). They also have one of my other close-to-favorites here: pork bun. The bread is prepared really well but the meat seemed a little under seasoned for my preference. Overall, it was still good though, and I would pick up another on another dim sum trip. My husband really enjoyed the various shrimp items too. Back to the shrimp noodles… I didn’t see any on a few of the circling carts, and I asked the server if they had any. The wait staff who had seated us came over and then jumped in the kitchen and brought us a fresh order on the spot! That was so amazing and a great act of above-and-beyond service(thank you!!). We did pick a few more up on a cart later on(I told you they were my favorites! My daughter LOVES rice noodles and shrimp too so she had a bunch as well.), and there seemed to be plenty going around the restaurant. One thing that was a little off to me, though, was a strange flavor in several of the items. After we left, I reasoned that it could have been from the steel containers the dim sum was steaming in… luckily, my favorite item wasn’t in the steaming dish so it didn’t affect that at all. The other items I noticed it, but my husband didn’t seem to notice it at all(I might be a super taster, hmmm). I looked at pictures on Unilocal afterwards too, and it looks like they used to use bamboo steamers(or do sometimes) and maybe that would eliminate the odd flavor. Honestly, though, this flavor issue isn’t enough to keep me from going back — the service and my favorite dishes(outside the steel steamers) were still great here. Overall, this will likely be our current go-to dim sum spot. My husband was *so relieved* to finally have this ‘necessary’ food item available out here — he commented that he was happier than if it was his birthday! haha

The one thing this place has going for it is that it’s one of the only places for dim sum in the Triangle area. Having lived in China for a little while, I can say that I have definitely experienced better dim sum. The food here isn’t bursting with flavor like what true dim sum should be. I’ve never had their main dishes, but everything off the dim sum menu is good but not spectacular. I did like the chive shrimp dumplings, as those are one of my favorites. A word of advice: TRYTHECHICKENFEET. Yeah, it sounds friggin gross. But it tastes awesome in my opinion. Do it, be a little adventurous. Chicken feet are one of my favorite dim sum dishes, and I suggest them to anyone. The inside isn’t very appealing, and all the decorations are somewhat plain. The ambiance isn’t spectacular, and the musical selection is off sometimes(they were playing Christmas music last time I was there). Definitely worth a try if you live in Raleigh and want to try dim sum, but just know that there is better dim sum out there.
