This seems to be representative of the Morristown palate. This is not represent Japanese food at all. This was our first try. We have had Japanese food from LA to San Francisco and NYC. Only here would sugar be added to carrots. This was gross. No wonder Morristown is so obese!

Great Japanese food! I like the hibachi chicken and broccoli with shrimp sauce. Can eat inside or go through the drive-thru.

Okay Morristown. I’m here to be the official tie breaker. I pulled in from the interstate to see if it’s really that good or if the naysayers wouldn’t know good Japanese food if it punched them in the face. We chose the drive through option which was eight cars long at 5:35 on a Thursday. Can we pause for a minute? As others have said, the menu is hibachi style. You pick either hibachi(cooked in soy sauce) or teriyaki(cooked in a sweeter teriyaki sauce) with a choice of shrimp, steak, or chicken. The meal was really inexpensive for hibachi style food. The prices were around $ 8 per plate. It maybe that’s because they staffed the kitchen with high school kids and not knife wielding entertainers. We got three meals total and the bag weighed probably five pounds — no kidding. I ordered the teriyaki chicken which came with rice, carrots, and broccoli. The carrots, rice, and yum yum sauce were on point but sadly the chicken WAS overcooked and without flavor. I couldn’t detect any teriyaki flavor. However, I think for fast food this is an excellent option and certainly healthier than other options.

I had the chicken & beef teriyaki combo. Every other bite of meat was a tad tough and none had any flavor. Luckily I had requested extra teriyaki sauce(which they charged me extra for) for my rice but I was able to dip my meat in it to add some flavor. The yum-yum sauce was a very thin & watery. The portions were good and the service was great. I don’t think I’ll be back.

I LOVE Akita. Now that I do not live in Morristown I crave it and it is top on my list to stop and eat when I come home to visit.

Definitely good food! Very limited menu but to pull of japanese fast food ans deliver a quality product you have accomplished something great. As a frequent traveler I just wanted to get something to go that tasted like I was eating in so I read the reviews and went. I ordered the vegetable and fried rice entrée. It was ready in less than 5 minutes and was really good,. Sort of felt like I was stepping up to the counter if any other fast food place but the product delivered was much more pleasing. When in morristown, I’ll definitely eat here again.

We love this place. We used to live nearby and now live 7 hours away. We gladly make the 45 mile one way diversion from I-75 to come here. Don’t miss it and if you have not tried it, you are missing a gem. Oh yeah, I suppose you want to know about the food… the menu is fairly small but consists of Hibachi and Teriyacki selections(chicken, steak, shrimp and scallops). Each entrée is accompanied by fried rice and sweet cooked carrots. The dishes include great ~portobello mushrooms and are topped with sesame seeds along with a side of a thousand island type dipping sauce. There is nothing fancy about this place, just great tasting food. Enjoy

Akita is the ONLY place in Morristown to get great Japanese food! In fact, their food is so good that I occasionally get requests from my husband’s staff to bring it to them at work in Rogersville! Their prices are reasonable, their service is fast and friendly, and they have a nice variety of dishes to choose from. My husband and I are loyal Akita patrons and will continue to be! Give Akita a try! You will NOT be disappointed!
