Love Plaza Diner. They are consistently good. Their chicken souvlaki is so good. Their omelets are fantastic. You can always tell if a restaurant is really good if they make a good omelet, and this place really delivers. The cooks know what they are doing back there.

I stopped in for breakfast with a co-worker during lunch hour. It’s a nice quaint diner with all booths and some charm. I ordered the blueberry pancakes with a side of turkey sausage and a coffee. My co-worker ordered an omelette and coffee as well. My pancakes consisted of 3 very large pancakes filled with the right amount of fresh blueberries. The turkey sausage consisted of two very fat links which were tasty. My co-worker enjoyed her omelette and bragged that the potatoes that came with it were delicious. Coffee was good and hot. The service was very good but not friendly… which was ok. The waitress was busy and was doing her job. The prices were very reasonable for the portions provided to us. I must say the bathrooms were very clean and updated. A rarity for a diner.

Exactly as expected — good potatoes, coffee and they know how to cook eggs. The location is very convenient(right across the Morris Plains train station). Try the breakfast sandwiches with Taylor ham.

My experience was very so so. Food was ok but service was cold and inattentive. I sat at the counter and had to ask for a menu, even though two servers were standing right in front of me. I thought that was not a good sign. Also, the place was a little dirty, noting that the salt shaker had ketchup smeared on its top, and the ketchup bottle opening was caked with old ketchup. Apparently, the staff doesn’t care so much. Typically, service standards reflect directly on the owners and management, so no great points for them either. Comparing this diner to the Denville Diner, the Denville Diner has much, much better service, much cleaner, and their prices are about 25% lower(comparing exact same items). I will not return to the Plaza Diner and continue patronizing better diners in the area.

This won’t be long… because it’s a diner. I will say that most of the complaints in other reviews come from it being a diner(i.e. you only get 3 chances with your server at a diner… coffee/food order, food delivery is when you must ask for anything else you’ll want, and finally the check… people should know this!). And, most of the positives come from it being a diner(i.e. food is hot and quick). The only thing I will add is: homemade corned beef hash. I’m a sucker for CBH with a couple of runny eggs… and this place knocked it out of the park. Heck, they might even get a fifth star after I come back here a few more times and deplete their corned beef hash reserves.

Good standard diner food. Food is warm and waitresses are attentive. Owner could be more attentive to his customers. Barely says hello, goodbye or thank you. Important to go to a place that is pleasant so your day is good.

Great place for kids! We stumbled upon this place by accident, and know to come here in the future. The food is standard diner items, and the local flare keeps the tourists at bay. We ordered a typical breakfast: eggs, homefries, meat & toast. Whole breakfast came out quickly, coffee service was slow as more and more people arrived. I would suggest coming earlier than 9am to avoid the morning rush. Overall, the food and service was quick, but once you get your food, don’t expect to see your server until they are handing you a check.

We are usually very happy at The Plaza, I buy my parents gift certificates there all the time, but last Friday, 4÷10÷15, my Mom and I had to deal with an extremely rude server. My mom ordered her toast dry as did I my bagel. My bagel was fine, but her toast was slathered in butter. I got the server’s attention and told her my mother’s toast had butter on it. Most servers will immediately go back and get another serving of toast, since most people like to eat their toast with their eggs. Well she talks for a few minutes by the counter, then she gets coffee and walks around to other tables to fill them up, then she takes an order from a table behind us. So I’m thinking maybe she didn’t hear me, and I said we need some new toast here, and she snidely says, «I know, I heard you» in the snottiest voice ever. That was not called for. I just wanted my Mom to have her toast with her egg that she ordered. My mom is 87, I took the day off of work to take her to breakfast and get her out of the house, and this is what we had to deal with? Very disappointing. If we go there again and see this server I will definitely ask not to be seated in her section. It’s a shame one bad server can ruin a whole restaurant and your morning for that matter. I still left a tip but is was not deserved in the least!!!

Went here the other day and I must say service was terrible. Food was okay but too expensive for the poor quality and portion size. staff were rude, unprofessional, and slow. I was one of only a few tables so there was no excuse for being so rushed and once my meal was served I didn’t speak to my waitress again until the check was delivered. My soda stayed empty the entire time. Owner stayed on the phone not paying any attention to his lazy staff. Also, she looked dirty and tired. It’s a shame because a few months ago I was waited on by a short blonde woman who provided excellent service, very nice, attentive, and helpful. I left that day already making plans to come back. The service had made me overlook the fact that the place needs a serious face lift. Honestly it looks very dingy yellow and old(It is probably my lazy waitresses job to clean and if she can’t bother to walk 20 feet to refill a soda lord knows she can’t be bothered to wipe the crust off the place!)I should have just enjoyed my one good experience and never looked back because I am disgusted by the way I was treated this time. And the cherry on top? A cockroach, YES, a cockroach making its way across the floor. Needless to say I will NOT be returning and I wouldn’t suggest for anyone else to waste their time and money in this dump either!

Ok well it’s too soon to tell you how the food is but so far I’ve been waiting 15 minutes for mine. The waitress has hers. She’s eating and playing with her phone at the counter. The staff is very friendly and pleasant but everyone seems to have a device to play with, the manager is on his laptop at the counter. Maybe they aren’t that busy? Dinner has arrived. It’s a turkey dinner with mashed and broccoli. Broccoli is awesome. Fresh and not soggy diner broccoli. Points for even having broccoli. Oh wait it tastes kind of minty. Do people put mint in broccoli? Wtf. Yuck on the broccoli. I kind if want to leave and swish my mouth out. Moving on. The waitress remembered extra gravy and the cranberry. Awesome because no one ever remembers the cranberry. Gravy is really good. Turkey is also good. Not that standard boiled diner turkey. All good. But I don’t recommend the broccoli. I hope I’m not poisoned. Did I say The people are friendly? They just lent me a pen and let me charge my phone. That was nice. The service is good enough. I mean it’s a diner. I’d definitely come back. Unless the broccoli is poisoned. They are so friendly I feel kind of bad telling you about the broccoli. looks like there’s some really good deserts, btw.

You have to love a family run diner. There are precious few of these left in the world. I had to try the breakfast. It was simple, and the kind you expect to find on the Jersey or Delaward shore. I had the corned beef hash which was of very high quality, and not nearly as greasy as this dish can be. The coffee was hot, and the staffing very old school. I must admit that this place did not live up to the high reviews that I had read. However, it is all about family, and the courtesy won me over. It reminded me a little of Garrett Park, Maryland with the little down home feel. I love breakfast!

My girlfriend and I go out for breakfast a lot, especially after a long night out. Last week we were in Morristown and decided to give this place a shot b/c of the high reviews. We were able to get a booth immediately on a Sunday morning, good to dodge the church crowd. She got an omelet and I got the steak and eggs, shared a side of bacon, and each had coffees. Food didn’t take longer than 10 minutes. We each took two bites, looked at each other, and knew that we would be coming back. She loved her omelet and raved about the potatoes. My steak was a good sized cut, potatoes also great, and our side of bacon was about 6 – 7 quality slices… a good deal for the extra $ 3(we’ve paid that much to be given three small burnt pieces before). Next time we stay in Morristown we’ll be returning for breakfast.

Just love this family run diner in the center of Morris Plains! Always feels nice to be around locals who have been going to this diner for years. Service is always friendly and super fast whether you are enjoying breakfast or a quick lunch. They have had many new additions to their menu and if you love avocados like me, definitely try the avocado triple decker with their own special spicy sauce for dipping! They also recently started taking credit cards instead of just cash which is so helpful. Definitely my new go-to diner of choice– always reliable!

This is a family run, local diner off the main road in Morris Plains… it is very popular and usually pretty packed. The food is good… reasonably priced with very large portions and the waitresses are very quick and efficient. I recently went here on Saturday for a celebratory lunch(I did)…and ordered the tuna melt. I got two open faced sandwiches with lots of melted cheddar over a heaping tuna on rye… on the side were salted french fries. I also got the pumpkin coffee which tasted like liquid pumpkin pie. My friend went with the veggie omelet and received a plate filling omelet which she also said was excellent. The diner was decorated for Christmas with green garlands over the tables adorned with big red bows. I will go with 4.5 stars… you know it’s good food when a place is always packed with locals. Also I want to add that the owner is usually at the diner working and overseeing the operation…

The Plaza is a small town neighborhood diner serving all the usuals. I have eaten here countless times over the years and the food has always been decent. Good coffee and the menu has recently been expanded. Service is friendly and although the restaurant could use some updating, there is a comfortable small town feel here that is perfect for«The Community of Caring.» The Plaza is good choice for a convenient breakfast or lunch in Morris Plains.

This is the quintessential small town diner. Great breakfast, generous portions, classic specials for dinner, great owners, great customers, great for the entire family. My kids love it. Just down to earth, good comfort food. Don’t forget the split pea soup on Wednesday!

This diner is small and a little gloomy, the coffee tastes like metallic dishwater, and service can be a little abrupt… but, it is worth putting up with all of these factors for one reason: the Plaza makes the best breakfast potatoes on the East Coast – crispy, well seasoned perfection. I’ve been to many diners in the tri-state area, and although other diners might have better atmospheres, none comes close to matching this potato perfection. The blueberry pancakes are also a good choice, and the Belgian waffles always look tempting. The burgers and other standard diner entrees are decent as well. The owner is very friendly and swift. Get thee hence to Morris Plains.
