It was our first time at this restaurant and we were excited to try it because of great reviews but the overall experience was average. The moment we walked into the place, the hostess was there to greet but she seemed awkward and unfriendly which was not a good way to start the whole experience! We didn’t have a reservation and she seemed surprised by it. We were seated by a large group so our server was too busy to take care of us. The food was ok, I don’t think it’s outstanding. However, they have a very good atmosphere with nice table linens and tables/chairs. They also have free valet parking which is nice because it can be difficult to find parking in downtown Morgan Hill.

One of the nicer dining establishments in Mo Hill. The bar has open seating with full service which was readily available on a Saturday night but the SO forgot his ID, so we had to wait about 30 min for a table. Worth the wait at least. The Fig Brie Puff Pastry was very rich but probably too filling if you’re having a steak for dinner(which you should). My Filet Mignon was fabulous. My SO’s Bone in NY Strip was a VERY generous piece of meat. They offer different sauces for the steaks and chops which I liked. Great date night spot. Check it out.

Oh Emm Gee. Outstanding dining experience. Every layer of our meal was nothing less than stellar. I’m not kidding. To do the meal over again I would skip the puff pastry brie only because the remainder of the meal was so beautiful it wasn’t necessary. It was good we just didn’t need it. My daily special swordfish with scallops instead of prawns was something of legends. I’m not confident words can do proper justice to the simply delectable nature of those scallops. The pork osso bucco was tasty enough but my dish was where it was at! As if we hadn’t indulged enough we shared three dessert because we simply weren’t able to decide. The tartoufo was amazing. The caramelized coconut on the fantastic banana cake simply bursts of flavor when it contacts your tastebuds and finally the crème brûlée offered only a critique that I would have appreciated a bit more brûlée’d sugar other than that it was damn near perfection.

Sunday afternoon, few tables occupied outside the rest. After we seated for 10 min. I realized that I should go inside to meet the hostess and to inform her that we 2 are seated outside. After that a waiter came to get our order, order done. After 20 min seats at the table with no complementary bread. I called the busboy and ask for it. After few min the bread arrived here come our food as well :(. Food was has a expected. SERVICEHORRIBLE, need lots of improve on it

Went in by accident while browsing around for a lunch with my mother. I’d rate it 3.5 stars for now but it was a very pleasant discovery! The place is nicely decorated, clean, classy, service is impeccable and food was quite good. We were seated outside right away The exterior is nice despite being on the side of the road, tables are arranged in a way that you feel outside the city. There are only few cars during week lunches so you won’t be bothered. Ladera offers lunch special. I had the eggplants and my mom the ahi ahi seared tuna. The Ahi was perfect. Very fine, tender tuna, cooked to perfection. Sauces were quite interesting. Food is well presented. Eggplants: too much«bread» to my taste. I’d like a more generous slice of eggplant and less bread but it was generally good. Pasta sauce with fresh basil was succulent. The waiter knows his job and provides a very professional service. Nice place for business lunch. I believe a romantic dinner could be nice there as well ;-)

We are NOT fancy eaters– but Ladera had us at «hello…would you like the Mac and Cheese truffle?» Ummmmm yes!!! Great steaks and salads, and even better bar menu!!! Wonderful atmosphere whether you’re spicing up date night or need to grab a bite at the bar and watch the game. Way to class it up MoHill!

I think the food here is ok. The waitress Gabriella(sic) was very nice and accommodating. The worst part is all the other busboy and service personnel who came by was extremely unprofessional. We were asked 6 times by 3 different busboy whether we were finish with our meal when there was still significant amount of food still on our plates. I think another Unilocaler mentioned how annoying this was in her review and I thought she was just joking. Now I know if anything she was understating the situation. It was awful. I finally told our busboy to not ask anymore. Then they sent a different busboy(a tougher looking busboy:-) to come ask us again! We must be using up all their dinner plates for the whole restaurant. The Prawn dish was really medium size shrimp that did not taste that fresh. It was not bad however smelled fishy as soon as it was put in front of me. The side pasta was very stringent tasting because the lemon butter sauce was not coordinate and balanced in the flavors. Overall, I think they make an effort, just came up short as far as the restaurant experience.

I never order entrée salads. In fact I make it a point never to order a salad as an entrée… because why would you? There’s normally a lack of flavor and substance. And they’re not good value. I came here for a team lunch so my review is solely based on the food. I took a chance after seeing the other reviews and ordered the Honey Citrus Shrimp Salad… it was amazing. Too bad I didn’t take a picture of it, because the presentation was gorgeous and the flavors had impact! It was well balanced with sweet and savory, and the shrimp was cooked perfectly! Everything paired well with the sauce. I liked the gorgonzola didn’t overpower the other elements, and the walnuts and cranberries have the salad a wonderful texture. Some of my coworkers got the Seafood Harvest Grill and the Cowboy Salad. I think we could agree that the entrée salads here are excellent. Though the entrée salads are $ 14 – 20, I feel like my salad was worth it for the combination of flavors, and it was very filling!

Had lunch last Friday. Stopped in at noon. It took nearly 40 minutes to get the food we had ordered. Ladera is hit or miss, in my experience.

We dined out on March 13 for the first time at Ladera Grill. My wife had the Prawn Scampi and I had the Lamb Shank. Both dishes were very tasty and cooked to perfection. The waiter was outstanding, very prompt and pleasant. We had been through downtown Morgan Hill many times but going for diner on a misty, drizzly evening was truly enchanting. Downtown has been beautified over the past decade and is a nice country styled area which just adds to the ambiance. The pricing range of Ladera Grill is closer to $$$ but definitely worth the extra $. We will eat here more often.

By FAR our favorite restaurant in Morgan Hill. The Eggplant Parmesan is our family’s favorite dish. It is far superior to other restaurants. Only one complaint, but we have the same issue with so many restaurants now. Servers don’t seem to have any clue how to serve. So let me offer a tip or two: 1) Please do not ask to clear someone’s plate until you’re certain they’re done/ready. 2) Don’t interrupt your customer’s conversations just to hear — for the third or fourth(or fifth) time — that everything is fine, or that they don’t need anything right now. Restaurant owners: A little training, please?

Ladera Grill, in the heart of downtown Morgan Hill. Having worked in the town, I had to choose a nice business dinner restaurant in Morgan Hill on multiple occasions. The pickings are just not as great as the San Jose area. For Morgan Hill this place is definitely one of the better restaurants. The seating area is a bit small, but they seem to manage it. Typical of the other pricier places in town, there was a bar area with TVs, but in this place it’s right next to the main dining area. There’s a decent selection of scotch, had myself my fav, Lagavulin. Unfortunately no large and dense ice cubes, but I give props to the waiter for knowing exactly what and why I was looking for em. Had a medium rare steak. It was pleasantly cooked nicely reddish, though I like mine more deep red. Medium rare should be seared on the outside and deep red on the inside. Though this seems to be «rare» for most places nowadays. There was a definition of medium rare on the menu, but I guess red in the center can also have multiple interpretations. Their cooked brown was deeper from the outside towards the center than I like. But the steak was nicely seasoned, not too overpowering or salty. It’s a nice restaurant with full bar, decent liquor selection, and good servers. One of the better places in Morgan Hill for sure.

We have even here twice now and both experiences have been top notch. The food is amazing. The staff is attentive. The atmosphere is inviting. I wish I could give this spot more stars. On our last adventure I had the lamb shank that literally fell off the bone. We will be back.

So we were looking for a place to eat a nice dinner for my birthday yesterday and I wasn’t in the mood for one of the usual places and Nick’s Next Door in Los Gatos was booked. After trying to find a new place to go we decided to give Ladera another shot based upon the good reviews we’d seen on Unilocal.I am very glad we did. We started off with the Jalapeño and Chicken potato skins. They were decent but now that I think of it I didn’t notice the Jalapeño at all. I had the Surf and Turf special,(Filet with a 9oz lobster tail) and the wife had Scallops. My wife enjoyed her scallops but wasn’t really into the risotto that came with the dish. I asked for my steak to be cooked just past medium rare,(many times medium rare is a little too red for me and sometimes medium comes out over done). The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The lobster tail was absolutely huge and very good as well. Service was good as Morgan was very friendly and attentive. She recommended a St. Francis Zinfandel to go with the steak and it paired excellently. I am glad we gave Ladera another chance as this experience was much better than our previous visit. I’m sure we’ll be stopping by Ladera often.

I really enjoyed my first trip to LADERAGRILL! Not sure why it took me so long to get there, but the lunch that we had on Friday was spot-on! The complimentary fresh baked bread to start off with was amazing, that alone is worth the trip! I also ordered the Ladera Turkey Sandwich, which was turkey, bacon, cheese and garlic mayo on a toasted roll. It came with fries, but I substituted fruit instead. Everyone at the table enjoyed their fish tacos and prime rib sandwiches as well. The décor is cool with lots of bright natural sunlight, the bar is nice and has a good selection of brews, and the restaurant was still a little busy by 3pm. I’d love to go back to try a few more things. I can tell just about everything is good at Ladera. Until then, 4.5 stars!

Came by on a Friday for a late dinner and some drinks. My date and I dined outside after requesting such and to not be under the flood lights. We split the Thai soup, spinach salad, oysters, and surf and turf. The plating was lovely and the salted butter for the bread was quite tasty. I have to say the scallops were melt in your mouth and the filet minion, medium rare, was nice and tender. Prawns were well cooked and seasoned perfectly! Risotto was also a nice pairing and overall, the dinner and service were four stars!

If you read my reviews you already know that I have celiac disease and a severe dairy allergy so I always preface my reviews with this as it is a huge factor in my rating of a restaurant. The first time I went to Ladera Grill was quite recently on a double date with another couple. I called Ladera Grill ahead of time to see if they would be able to accommodate me and sure enough they said they could. Unfortunately I will be knocking off one star though because when I was on the phone they tried to make it very clear that they were completely booked and there was no way we could get a seat. Yet we decided to go check it out anyway and ended up waiting just 15 minutes! They were not full at all! IT was disappointing that they were actually trying to discourage us from coming in. While we were waiting to be seating we just sat at the bar and had some drinks. I tried for the first time a dirty Shirley which is basically a Shirley Temple with vodka and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were seated outside and it was gorgeous outside so we didn’t mind at all. I immediately told the server of my allergy concerns and he was on top of it. I really wish I would have gotten his name, because he was very understanding that we could not have any sort of cross contamination with my food. We didn’t really get any appetizers but for my entrée he was very helpful in figuring out something on the menu I could have. I ended up with the chicken with steamed vegetables and a plain baked potato. This is not on the menu so just keep that in mind. They have a chicken dish but had to make a new sauce for me to be able to have it. I ended up thoroughly enjoying every last drop off my plate. Now for dessert we found out that I could have the lemon sorbet so the boy and I decided to split that. It was lemon sorbet inside a fresh lemon peel. Unfortunately the first one they brought out had whip cream all over the plate so he immediately took it back and had it remade. They were quick about it and it was delicious. The only difficult part of this was someone different brought out our food than our server so I was a little uncomfortable. I wish the food runners would make it clear when they are delivering a plate that has to do with someone with an allergy. This would end up making me so much more comfortable. In the end the service was pretty good and we will definitely be going back for special occasions.
