I hate to hear stories like this. Sears Hometown Store of Morehead City, NC is committed to Customer Satisfaction and take pride in offering Great Customer Service. We have no problem returning customer items with the proper receipt. The receipt the customer produced had the proper information on it, but was unrecognizable by our registers since it was ordered on-line. The store associates attempted to return the item several times 1) by the customer’s phone number 2) using the Return Code on the email, but to no avail. We consulted & they informed the customer that the item could not be returned here at our store due to not being a normally stocked item. We tried everything we could to assist this customer and stayed well after we had closed trying to resolve the issue. Customer left the treadmill with us, but came back the next day to pick the treadmill up and take it to a neighboring Sears Store in Jacksonville, NC. We loaded it back up into the customer’s truck and apologized again for the inconvenience. The customer seemed very understanding and I feel that we went out of my way to provide the best customer service that we possibly could — even though we could not get the register to accept the return. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope that you still remain a Sears customer.

I ordered a treadmill online and had it shipped to this store. The product was defective and was told by to return the product to the store it was purchased from. I returned it here, the manager told the woman working the register that they didn’t accept returns because they were an outlet store and I had to return it to Jacksonville. The employees at Jacksonville said both managers that work at this store are worthless and that they flat out lied to me. There is no such policy and that they are a hometown store not an outlet store. Complete liars and scam artists! Avoid at all costs.
