I’m really torn on this place– I know they mean to do well, but they’re very clearly unorganized and struggling. The food was nothing special, at least there was nothing that certainly stood out on the menu or my palate. Prices on the menu were average. The staff was friendly sure, if you could catch them anyway. My uncle and I were actually joking that the place only began to look semi-busy because everyone had actually been here since 6am waiting on the staff. We were informed about ten minutes after we sat down the only waiter/busser guy had to be called in to help out and he was busy currently signing up for his classes. I sporadically saw what I assume was the owner and another lady running around. One of them in their rush actually dropped a plate of food as she got turned around and confused with whose breakfast she was carrying. As a previous waiter myself, it was agonizing watching them this morning trying to collect themselves over a few tables. Clearly this place needs more experience on the floor. I attached a photo with my review of my breakfast, I ordered a simple two runny eggs, hash browns and toast. You’ll notice they somehow– I’ve never seen this in my life– managed to actually mess up a runny egg. I cut it open and it was completely dry. Blegh. Also, I’d recommend you ask them for light or no butter with your toast, mine had very clearly been attacked my a tub of margarine. The hash browns were extremely plain too, no spices, no veggies, nothing. Honestly, I would rather have made breakfast at home this morning than to have gone here. I paid $ 21 for two meals, a coffee and sporadic, brief service. I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

Friendly staff; country and comfortable atmosphere; unique environment; don’t leave the town without trying this place first; love the food; ask for the specials. I love food, and I’ve been to enough restaurants to know the difference between good and bad food. You must check it out.

This is a great breakfast and lunch spot if you are in the Moorpark area. Weather you get Ham and Eggs or or Steak it’s all good. It just you basic good grub place. Motorycle cycle riders like it as from here you can hit Balcom or Grimes Canyons.

Awesome family diner. Great food. Cozy and friendly atmosphere. The staff is pleasant and the owners Joan & Luis are very well known in the community. I highly recommend this restautant. If you happen to be in the area of Moorpark stop in and check out this western style restautant«The Cactus Patch»…you’ll be glad you did.

After reading the mixed reviews we decided to take a chance on this local eatery for a late Sunday breakfast. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and told to seat ourselves wherever we liked. A waitress brought menus just a moment after we sat down and had the coffee and iced tea we requested brought to us immediately. She was courteous and efficient, returning to take our orders promptly and those orders were served promptly. The food portions were good sized and properly prepared(scrambled eggs neither dry nor runny, hash browns crunchy on the outside, bacon crisp). The biscuits and gravy was bland and uninspired; I don’t recommend that. The décor is definitely old west both in style and how long it’s been on the walls, but the place was clean. Overall a good value for the money.

What has happened to the cactus patch? My wife and I used to enjoy going there on weekends. But after last weekend I don’t think we will be returning. Slow or no service take your pick. With three waitress and two busboys And not one person even acknowledge Us at our table. And we were not the only ones. The table next to us keep trying to get anyone’s attention. I would be a little understanding if they We’re busy but they were not. Being a Moorpark resident I like to keep my business in my home town but they Are making it hard to do. I guess the Grinder will have to do.

Would you like to be ignored? Do you wanna be treated like an unwanted guest? Do you like a waitress with attitude? If you said yes to any of the above, then check this place out! They have mastered the art of ignorance, rude behavior and attitude! Funny how I just read a few other similar reviews! Today was the second, and the very last time we visited this absurd, miserable excuse for a restaurant! Both times, we received the same service. Today’s menu was a special kind of stupid! After receiving the menus and looking through it for a couple of minutes, the waitress asks«are you ready to order already?» With a facial expression that could only mean she’s being rude and obnoxious! We order and ask for a cup of water! About 20 minutes later we ask for water again. Another 15 minutes goes by and I had to practically beg for a cup of water from another waitress passing by and tell her it’s the third time I’ve had to ask. They all ignored our table the whole time(both times we visited this place) which I believe was due to our race. Because the table next to us was another couple with a kid who appeared to be the same race as the waitresses, and they got plenty of attention and service! For a cute place like this with pretty good food, I know why it’s not that busy. Your staff drive people away! Well done to whoever manages this place. You’re definitely a winner!(I’m being facetious)

My BF told me about this little breakfast place out in Moorpark. We drove out there on the motorcycle to eat some breakfast before our morning ride. The inside and décor is really cool, and the staff is very friendly, however there food was lacking flavor. The BF and I got the same thing eggs and country potatoes with toast or biscuits and gravy. The food had No flavor at all, was really a disappointment, especially since country potatoes always have a lot of flavor. The BF said the biscuits and gravy weren’t great either, pre made biscuits don’t cut it. All in all the place was cool the staff was nice, but the food sucked.

My work out partners and I have visited The Cactus Patch three Sunday’s in a row with today being the absolute last time. The first visit there were some minor hiccups with the service, nothing to egregious but still off putting. When we were served the food it was brought out in a completely unordered manner and the wait staff had some trouble serving the right order to the correct parties. This is not a huge deal but the waitress gave us attitude over this and some unwelcomed sassy remarks that were not in good fun. The food was honestly really good so we overlooked this and returned next week for Sunday brunch. On our second visit there was again confusion with delivering our orders, but also they made a mistake in one our orders and also forgot another orders side. Not a huge deal but again, slightly off putting. The food was noticeably not as good the second visit. Today’s visit was the final straw. Same issues with delivering our food, but this time even worse and the server(who we later learned was apparently the«manager» as well) also completely took one of our orders down wrong, then proceeded to argue with us and insist that was what was ordered, which it most certainly was not. I don’t go out to eat to be argued with, and we should not be made to feel like we are inconveniencing the wait staff for kindly asking them to do their job. We made no unreasonable demands and not once were we rude or aggressive, but received only that in response from the staff. Lastly, we learned today they have a new chef and it showed as the food was mediocre at best today. Now there is no reason to come back.

Eat Here, it is good Food! The atmosphere is cozy, the décor is country style, and the service is great. I had the Eggs and Bacon with a coffee and a side of avocado. The meal came with hashed browns and sour dough toast. The butter on the toast tasted fresh and it was melty rather than the ice cold butter straight out of the freezer that you might get somewhere else. Eggs and bacon were delicious. The coffee is pretty standard grade, but this place isn’t known for their exotic coffee. They are know for their meals that give you the comforts of «Home Cookin’» and the service that makes you feel like you’re a «Regular» even if you’re sitting down for a meal for the first time there. The prices are reasonable and fair. I’m going back, soon.

Never do I feel inclined to write a poor review. However, my experience this morning was unusually sad. My boyfriend and I walked in and stood at the front waiting to be seated, one of the hosts looked around and told us there was one booth left in the very corner if we wanted it. Thinking he would follow us with menus, we sat down. No one bothered bringing us. After about 15 min, my boyfriend walked up to the front to ask for menus. One of the servers was actually apologetic and brought them to us right away(he was the best thing about our experience) We ordered our food and 50 min later our food came. We ordered eggs and hash browns… the eggs were still watery because they were undercooked. Could’ve stayed home and made myself a better breakfast. Coffee was bitter… needless to say we went to Starbucks right after. No one ever checked on us the entire hour and a half we were there. Sadly, below average.

The breakfast couldn’t be much better and I really enjoyed the outdoor seating. People were nice, coffee decent. Pretty hard to beat for ten bucks me thinks!

From the sub-par food to the waitress who loudly said, «if they can’t speak English, they should get the ____out», this Restraunt wasn’t my favorite. My biscuits and gravy came out lukewarm, giving me only about a bite to «enjoy» it before it was cold. Others in my party got their food completely cold. Well, it wasn’t very good anyway so not a total loss. The home fries weren’t bad, but they weren’t seasoned at all — just cooked potatoes. Our waiter was friendly, and informative about menu items. He was the only redeeming thing about our visit. There were flies all over the restraunt, and even some patrons at the counter mentioned they had to cover their food to avoid the flies landing on it. There were three flying around our table. I can’t imagine how many there were throughout the restraunt. The décor is western, which isn’t bad — it’s kind of standard for the area. Although many crooked pictures and clutter make it look far older than it really is. It’s fairly clean, though. I ran my hand along a windowsill and there was a little dust, but it seems like just what’s been collected over maybe a day or two. While our waiter was kind, the rest of our experience wasn’t impressive. The unprofessional waitress who made comments about speaking English should definitely keep in mind the demographic of the area she’s working in and maybe show some appreciation for her paying guests. If she was just joking with a regular, she should make sure to keep in mind the others in ear shot.

This place was amazing! The portions were big. The food came out very quickly and was a great way to spend the morning. I usually eat more food than most, so it was nice when I ordered the steak and eggs. The rye bread that came with my meal was not too buttered either. Though I was only here to visit friends, I would definitely make it a point to come here again. The ambiance was very friendly. The warmth of the place matched the lighting from the two olden chandeliers. The only thing I would mention would be that my friend did not like the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were kinda average. As for my dish, I loved it!

This is my go to breakfast spot and has been for 20+ years. I love Jessica and everyone who works there. Joan Martinez, the owner, is a hometown gem! The bus boys are the hardest working guys in the biz. Try the Chorizo and eggs. I also love my Saturday morning cactus patch Mimosas!

We can’t get enough of this place. The food is great and the service is terrific. Ask for Jessica and feel free to give her a hard time. She’ll fire right back at you. She’s got a great attitude and is lots of fun. It’s kinda like going to a friend’s place for breakfast. Did I mention the food’s great. Home cooking like it’s meant to be.

This place has been around for ever. It’s kind of a Moorpark institution. But I don’t really know why. Sure it makes a decent breakfast. Sure it has a old(and I emphasize OLD) western style décor. Hell, I bet the cast of Bonanza ate here back in the day. But it’s average. That’s it. Nothing more, nothing less. What can you write about an average place to eat? Ummmmm… Well… Ugggggh. It was average? Oh wait! The service was good! Slightly above average!!!
