Well, up here for jazz diva affair with Spyro Gyra tonight. The Mavericks restaurant is a hot mess! Tonight is opening night, the crew is untrained, lacks good customer service and has the wrong people serving drinks. Given this is their first day… they should have set up the night before and brought in professionals to serve drinks, not girls with attitudes! My initial experience was with the older woman and I had the first drink upon opening. This place has promise, but service is slow, team untrained with a couple of smart alecs. Hoping the restaurant improves — note to the manager… pay attention to your customers . I know the show will be great… settling in to enjoy!!! 4 stars for jazz diva… find a better way to identify patrons vs holding them hostage in a line to get a bracelet. If that is best approach, arm the team to move quickly like an assembly line. Keep it moving!!!

We attended the Easter Brunch. The staff was very nice, helpful and very considerate. The food on the other hand was not up to par. The grits were gritty, the ham was over cooked, the biscuits were oily, and the sausage had a weird taste. The bacon, eggs, and devil eggs were good. One would think that orange juice and or coffee was included in the $ 40.00 but it wasn’t. The orange juice was $ 2.00 and no refills. This is a good trip if you are sight seeing not for a special event like Easter.

Don’t expect to see much unless you take the cruise in the summer. Our boat left 30 minutes late and thus we were in complete darkness for 2 of the 2.5 hours! What is the point of cruising a lake if all you see is darkness and some house lights in the distance? The Lady of the Lake boat has seen better days. The carpet was worn and ripped and coming up under our table. The service was horrible. The salads came out around 40 minutes into the cruise and we still had never been asked for our drink orders. The food was pretty good for the most part. Our main was barely warm, and the desert was still partially frozen, but other than that, it was okay. Definitely not worth the money, though! The crew was friendly, and many people seemed to enjoy themselves, but it just really isn’t that memorable and definitely not worth the money.

We took the dinner cruise out of here and it was quite nice. A great place to have a party or just stop in for a snack if you are out on your boat.

Called a month in advance to make reservations for my best friend’s birthday. I was the first one to make a reservation on the boat for that day. The girl took all my information and we had a lengthy conversation about my plans to bring a cake on board and how I could sneak it on ahead of time. She stated I couldn’t board until 6:30pm, but could bring the cake in early and they’d bring it on board for me so my friend wouldn’t see it. So, on the Saturday we were to sail I had my hair done, put on my new outfit, arranged for a sitter, etc. Just as we were about to walk out the door to drive to Mooresville, we get a phone call. It’s the people from the boat calling asking if we’re still sailing with them tonight. I said yes, we were just about to leave. She says, «The boat already left.» It was 5:30pm. I told her our reservation was for the 7pm cruise and there must be some mistake. She said they don’t have a 7pm cruise on weekends in the winter. I went to their website www.queenslanding.com\ladyofthelake\index.html and told her I was looking at the schedule right then and it says 6:30pm boarding every night but Sunday. She said, «No, we changed that months ago.» Basically, called me a liar when I told her the website still said 6:30pm and that the person who made our reservation said 6:30pm. I asked her, if the boat had already left why she even bothered to call if all she was going to do was tell me the boat left us. She said it’s because they have to give people an opportunity to make the boat before they charge them the fee for not cancelling. So, basically, they charged me $ 150 for two dinners. I called my friend whose party I was attending to tell her what was happening and there were two other people the same thing happened to. They also had sitters, etc. and were also told they hadn’t been told 6:30pm. Not only that, found out the boat was still at the dock because one of the crew members was running late. So, they will hold a boat for a missing crew member, but not the people that are paying the crew’s salary. If she had told me they were holding the boat my husband and I could have made the cruise. We were only 15 minutes away. To add insult to injury, my friend asked if they could box up our dinners since we had already paid for them and were going to be charged for missing the boat. They told her they can’t do that because of «temperature concerns». She asked what the difference was between boxing up our food and them taking leftovers. So then they told her they had already thrown the meats out. Will NEVER make reservations with these people again and I had sailed on the Lady of the Lake many times before. I am so done I can’t even begin to tell you how furious I am. RIPPEDOFF!

The experience was ok as my husband and I tend to make the best of any situation. We were fortunate enough to get a window seat on the dinner cruise. Unfortunately, the ship had not been cleaned and we experienced a lovely view of spiders at work on their webs. We sat in clear view of the serving kitchen, flies everywhere, food preps wore no gloves, with sweat dripping on the food. Pretty disgusting. Food was cold when reveived and servers were not the friendliest. I gave one star because the drinks served. in the cheapest plastic cups seen. were good and the sun setting was beautiful. The ship could do alot better, but I guess they don’t have to when there isn’t any competition. For 100 bucks I expected a little bit more.

After reading some of the reviews my husband, adult daughter and I decided that a «nice quiet cruise» would be just what the doctor ordered. The staff/captain were amazing and very welcoming and friendly, that was a huge plus. The ship — terrific! The lunch only so-so but we didn’t expect anything more so that was ok. Now for the reason I rated it 3 stars instead of 4 or 5. The kids. it seemed like a Disney Cruise — we had NO peace and quiet, it was NOT relaxing with the non-stop shouting, squealing, running here and there, yelling. while the parents continued their own loud din. Honestly-I felt bad for the Captain who even at the beginning was shouting at people to keep quiet while he spoke. How ridiculous. My head was pounding, my ears shot — I realize you cannot discriminate against kids but honestly? There should be an ‘adults-only’ or ’18 and older’ cruise… where we can sit back, chill, enjoy some beverages/food and the lovely views. Everything else was great but it ended up being a very stressful and terrible experience thanks to the loud and unruly kids. Couldn’t wait to get off. Oh. loved the Steel Band awaiting us on land. but by then we had had enough. Great cruise — ruined.

Called after two unsuccessful attempts to place a reservation request from their website to find out they don’t offer Sunday night dinner cruises in January. Seems like they could put that on the website.

I have a somewhat unorthodox but probably more common than realized story. I purchased two tickets for the newyears eve cruise and concert(total $ 213) on December 29. I was informed however hours later that my mother was in need of surgery on the 1st. Since I live in Columbia, SC I didn’t not want to to spend the night away and instead chose to be there for support during the procedure. I spoke with the general manager Debbie about my situation but was fully prepared to get«stiffed» based on experience with a few other business and refund policies. This was not the case. In Fact, Debbie was very helpful and understanding and ended up refunding $ 200. Honestly, it was very refreshing to have a business owner/operator that treated me with respect and showed compassion for a serious situation. While I can’t speak for the actual business, I can say with confidence that it is being managed by someone that does their job well but also keeps in touch with her human side and doesn’t quote policy like an in unimaginative robot.

I called over 20 times in one day – left voice messages for the managers. No one was answering the phone. The next day I called and informed them that I called the previous day and that there was no answer and the woman on the phone responded in a manner that made it seem like she did me a favor by answering this time. Totally unconcerned. Not sure how they manage to run a business if they are so incredibly rude – not typical of this area at all! The floating dock outside that does jet ski rentals is wonderful with great pricing too!

I was about to give a 1 star review! My husband and I are celebrating our 4 year anniversary we have boarded the boat they ask us who had the prime rib and who had the salmon? Then a lady comes and says your card is declined you must go back to check in! In front of all the passengers boarding! So my husband and I are bewildered by this and a bit embarrassed! He tells me to stay on the boat and be seated while he finds out what the problem is. So I ask can the lady can she seat me she says no because you don’t have a ticket. So I am just left standing there while others are being seated. I then decide to follow my husband back to registration. We find out that the person who charged the card over the phone wrote down the wrong exp. date! I am pretty upset by all of this while my husband is so cool calm and collected:-) We then leave to re board but before leaving I tell the manager unbeknownst to me at the time named Adam what happened. No more than 10 min later he boards the boat apologizes for what happened and offers us to the opportunity to leave the riverboat to board the yacht! I say that would be great! Not only did he puts on the yacht he gave us a private table reserved just for us and a nice bottle of champagne! This is why they are 4 star! Customer service goes along way and is greatly appreciated! Can’t wait for our salmon and prime rib to come out! This turning out to be a great anniversary! We will come again!

HORRIBLE service. Wanted to take my fiancé on a romantic sunset dinner cruise. You can’t book a reservation on-line and when you call, you get a recording every time. Three days in a row I left a message and was never able to talk to a human. If they run their boats like they run their sales, take your own life jacket.

At my company we do quarterly team off sites and I am in charge of planning them. I wanted to do something different so I thought a boat cruise would be nice. We decided to do a private charter on the Catawba Queen as the price was a little cheaper for the 2 hours than on the Lady of the Lake. But to be honest I am so much happier with the CQ! There was so much outdoor space and we had a beautiful day so it was just perfect for everyone. I think the only time people were inside was to get drinks, food and to use the bathroom. The crew was great, Captain Allen let multiple people don a cap and steer the boat, and the rest of the staff made sure everyone was having a great time. We did a heavy hors d’oeuvres package and 2 hours of open bar with beer and wine. Everyone loved the food, I was skeptical but it was actually really good. They had wings, meatballs, shrimp, veggie, cheese and fruit trays, sandwich items and potato salad and strawberry shortcake for dessert. It was more than enough food and people definitely had 2nds and 3rds. But the best bargain is the open bar, I mean the majority of us like to drink and our bar bill would have been sky high had it not been for the amazing open bar deal. I really just can’t say enough about how great this boat cruise was. We all wished we had another hour on the lake because we were having so much fun! I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone and I would definitely do it again.

I took an evening cruise on the Catawba aboard the Lady of the Lake. I must say, the hors d’oeuvres were pretty good and the one-hour open bar didn’t hurt either! I don’t know where the food was prepared but it was hot and very tasty. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the level of service provided on the boat. They really know how to help you have a great time and the staff join in to help you. The DJ on hand that night kept things moving on the dance floor(except when there were too many special requests) and a great time was had by all.

With the in-laws in town, we decided to give them a grand tour of Lake Norman. It was a first for us as well, since we haven’t yet explored the lake since moving to the area last year. There are several options when taking the lake tour, be it a pure tour of the lake or a lunch/dinner ride. We opted for the non-meal cruise. The boat is a decent size, two-story boat with seating both indoors on the bottom and the covered roof. The miss’ has gotten«seasick» in the past when on boats either on salt or fresh water, but she was fine with this trip. The tour lasted about an hour and a half and traveled around the lake. «Captain Boots» made sure to point out all the snazzy lake-side digs and who lived there. It sure made me pretty dang jealous! The captains allow kids to come inside and man the boat for awhile, so I took my nephew over to the front of the boat so he could get a chance. Captain Boots was very friendly towards us, and I was extremely shocked(and grateful) that he confirmed the story of «Normie» that I have been filling my nephew’s head with. Captain Boots gave us both a cool hat to wear while we were in the there with him, and my nephew also got a «license» confirming that he got to pilot the boat. If you happen to get hungry or thirsty during the trip there is a snack bar with chips, candy bars and sodas. I would have preferred some slightly better snacks available… at least some soft pretzels or something! Overall it’s a great way to check out the lake if you’re not familiar with the area and don’t feel like shelling out the cash to rent a boat for yourself. We’ll definitely be taking the tour again when my parents get around to coming to visit. If you do take the tour, keep an eye out for ol’ Normie!

My boyfriend and I had an amazing time last night on the two and a half hour dinner cruise on Queen’s Landing’s Lady of the Lake boat. I had no idea what it would be like and I was very happy with everything except for a couple small things. First, the servers did not seem like they were prepared to serve a packed house. They were very slow if they came at all and one in particular was extremely sweaty and felt the need to touch our straws as he poured our drinks(yes, we asked for new ones), the second and last thing I can critique is the fact that the food was not hot. However, at the end of a great night both of these things were forgotten. Though still a bit small, the boat was bigger than I expected and had two decent sized levels. The bathrooms were clean, and they had a nice outdoor area to sit and enjoy the water while watching the sunset and later on in the evening the beautiful moonlit sky. They had a full bar which was very decent priced and majority of the tables were next to the window so you can enjoy the sights. The food, though close to room temperature, was very tasty and better than I expected. I had the salmon and it melted in my mouth. My boyfriend had the steak and it was also delicious. I bought a deal from google offers for this cruise and it was an awesome night for a great price. The regular price they charge… eh, don’t know if it’s exactly worth it, however I find it hard to believe that you won’t have a wonderful night, especially if you are with a special person!

So I found this place through my GF friends. A recent weekend night found me here taking in all the Landing has to offer. Live music, food, entertainment and access to the lake all make it a pretty incredible destination considering how it is located pretty much not near anything town/city wise. Staff are what I call country friendly… I should know, I was raised in the country. If you are a high maintenance person, this isn’t the place for you. But if you like a place that provides a little of something for everyone and is family friendly, then Queen’s Landing is the place for you to check out.

I have only been on two of the day time lunch tours from Queen’s landing. They have two boats, and the less fancy one is called the Catawba Queen. You can take the tour or you can also include lunch with it. It’s only about a 90 minute ride, and the lunch is just lunchmeat sandwiches, chips, cookies, and tea or lemonade so we skipped it last time. There are no vegetarian, or even pescetarian, options for lunch. The Catawba Queen looks like an old riverboat. Much of it is open air, including all of the top deck. People can and do smoke on the top, so if you’re allergic, like my wife is, it may not be the place for you. The tour begins with a recorded story of how the Catawba used to live, then how it changed when the white man came, and how the lake was made. The captain then points out homes and who live there(many NASCAR drivers) while providing a little bit more history. The view is very nice from the top of the boat. There is also a cash bar downstairs that sells somewhat reasonably priced alcoholic beverages. The other boat, The Lady of the Lake, is enclosed and is used more for dinner parties, wedding receptions and the like. We haven’t been on that yet, but it looks very nice, and the food menu seems to be better. Queen’s Landing also has some other entertainment options like mini golf but they don’t look like anything too worthwhile. I’d say just go on the boat cruise and enjoy it.

Queens landing in Mooresville, offers a unique date or family event in their two dinner cruises aboard either the Catawba Queen Riverboat, or the Lady of the Lake Yacht. Check out this site for details on pricing:
Recently, we had the opportunity to go on the Catawba Queen for a sunset dinner cruise, and both my wife and myself had a great time. The food was excellent, and for this special night, they were offering an «open bar» so we had a REALLY good time on the two hour cruise. The bottom deck contains the dining area, bar, and restrooms. The top deck has open table seating and a large deck to hang out and enjoy the 360 degree views of Lake Norman. Smoking is allowed on the top deck as the captain told me I could smoke my cigar, just make sure to dispose of your trash and not flick it into the lake. The crew is very friendly and my wife was particularly excited that the Captain let her wear his hat and steer the boat! Afterwards he gave her a Captain certification card as a souvenir so I am assuming they want you to approach them. Also check out the special events page, off that main link I posted. They often offer themed cruises based on holidays etc. I believe at the moment they are offering story time cruises during the summer that includes lunch and entertainment for the kids. The dinner was pretty good, and for the pictures we got during the sunset and the buzz we caught on our voyage, we would definitely do this date again. A bonus to the end of the cruise is there is a dueling piano bar called Jokers right by the area you dock, so you can keep the party going!
