Hickory Tavern

Went here to watch the NCAA Basketball Championship game last night. Had our evening ruined by an intoxicated man yelled obscenities throughout the entire game. The bartender and management did nothing… in fact they continued to serve him drinks. Spent a good amount of money out for our dinner and shouldn’t have to tolerate that kind of behavior.

Second time here. Great food, great atmosphere and great people. This place is a staple for me when I’m in the area. Great wings!

2 hours and no food. No idea what’s wrong in the kitchen but taking forever. First dish came out but was cold and my friend’s was wrong. Ridiculous!

Looking for a place to eat in the area and happened to end up here by chance. Staff are friendly and seated us and got our drink order quickly. There weren’t too many other diners despite being the lunch hour.
There were t v’s everywhere with every sports game on, on.
We ordered the fresh ground beef burgers w/​house made chips, they were tasty but a bit pricey for us at over ten bucks a pop.
The atmosphere was ok, the fans were set at a brisk breeze and the rest rooms were clean but the food score was on the lower side; had I spotted it before we were seated I would have not been seated.
Even with their tasty fresh ground burger, next time I’ll check out some of the other choices in the area.

Solid lunch spot. I had the BBQ chicken baked potato and loved it. The chips and queso was also a good choice for an appetizer. Big portions for low cost

The food here is very good, and there are many options to suit a variety of tastes. I especially like the build your own salad. My problem is that the service I receive is never as good as I would like. We always seem to have to wait to order and for drink refills, no matter what time of day or day of the week. If the service was better, we would definitely visit more often.

I highly recommend this establishment, I have been dining here since it first opened years ago and I have nothing but good things to say. The atmosphere is nice and very causal. There’s plenty of tv’s and big screens for everyone to watch their favorite game. The appetizers are a little overpriced but they taste good. The salads, burgers, and wings are all very good as well and moderately priced. I always see the manager no matter what time I’m eating (he must live at work, I swear) and he’s very friendly and always checks in to see how we’re doing which is great. The beers are served very cold and the desserts are good as well. I love it here. Good service, hospitality, food and atmosphere. Will be returning many times to come. My only tip to others is it sometimes gets a little chilly because of the A/​C in the warmer months so you might want to bring in a sweater or sweatshirt. That is all! A++

We showed up with 10 minutes left until closing — I hate doing that but we were starved. The manager and one waitress that were only ones working never once acted put out at all. I’m sorry I can’t remember there names but the food was awesome and we never were rushed. The manager came and checked on us — first class deal. Thanks you guys
By the way they have the best wings around

Food is good, however the place is in dire need of cleaning. Please clean the fans & light fixtures

We haven’t been here in awhile. Only because of the traffic! But I have missed it! The food is so fresh and the wait staff is very friendly. Chicken fingers are to die for. The oysters are fantastic. My hubby got the black n blue burger and it was very good. Can’t wait to try the lobster roll next visit. Not sure why this place doesn’t have more stars. Very good menu. Good for the family.

i sat outside on the patio catching up with an old friend.
I had a beer and the crab cake sandwhich that our server recommended. it came with fries, and was ok. not great, but not bad by any means. my friend had a mudslide and some shrimp and grits that looked really good.
our server was ready to clock out for the day, and checked on us too many times after we told her we were just going to sit and talk.
i might give this place another try when i come to town again, mostly because there was so much on the menu that looked good and worth trying

Very very long wait tonight, not during the rush. We waited an hour and fifteen minutes. Hostess staff was inexperienced and rude. They do not follow first come first serve. They seated other waitresses friends first. I asked how long and why they were seating groups that checked in after us of the same size. I got «wait what «. I asked again how long, reply «what»??? Our waitress was ok, food was ok. My Husbands mushroom burger was served on toast not a bun. It was gross. The beer was good!!! This was quite possible my worst dining experience in quite a while. Red Robin is better, sad but true!

I love that it seems they take the time to really train their staff here, so our waitress was extremely knowledgeable and made some great suggestions (dishes that appealed to us very much) when we ordered. We consistently had our drinks refilled and she checked in with us twice during our meal to make sure everything was good. Being that the place was packed when we went to eat we felt very taken care of.
The food was hit and miss. We started off with the crab dip and ate every bit of it (I love the large chunks of crab in this!). I had the fish tacos and my boyfriend had the blackened salmon. Both were presented wonderfully but neither were very good and quite dry. I was disappointed with the fish tacos because they’re one of my favorites!
They have great bartenders here, we also ordered cocktails and absolutely loved them. We’re going to have another date night here soon and intend to try a few more as well as the crab cakes which we’ve heard really good things about.

The stars are for the varied menu and reasonably good food but I was totally grossed out there today. I had wings and had asked for a moist towel, expecting a little packet. Instead the waitress brought a BAR TOWEL, a rank, spoiled, sour smelling one on which she squeezed a lemon. She offered an apology but that was all… Did not offer to get the manager … Yuck.

Four people at my table and 3 rated it 4 and one 3.5 stars. Potato chips are good, fries ehhhh.

Way better than Sports Page! this food was good the atmosphere was great and the service was decent. They even had a few toys in the back that I was able to bribe my kids with if they were good we’d go play some ski ball after we ate. I’ll be back.

I’ve been here several times, both for lunch and dinner. They have a yummy chicken salad that’s served over lettuce with fresh fruit. They also have excellent wings. Tip: order them extra crispy!

Arrived around 10pm on a Friday night, the hostess did not seem to want us to be seated in the dinning area and was very insistent on us sitting on the bar. We waited about 10 minutes for the waitress to even greet us. About another 10 minutes for drinks. When we received our food, it was over done. The waitress was not friendly. It even took us a while to get our check. Maybe I’ll give this place another shot during the day…

I do like this place. Great Beer selection and prices seem on target. We were with a group of about six guys and the waitress played with us and got a cheap beer to mix with orange juice for a «Poor Man’s Mamosa».
Wings and food are on par for a sports bar, and they have a «Build a Salad» menu which is the first I’ve seen in a sports bar. This is the «Sports Bar» I prefer in the Mooresville, NC area.

Great location for lunch and casual dinner. It is a bar like restaurants with lots of screens and TVs tuned to every possible sport available on TV. Service at this location was normal for sports bar. Sweet potato fries were good. Wings off appetizer list were bland. Nachos served the whole table… and were good. wish i could have eaten more… but they were topped with ground beef. Good for those that eat beef… but I would have preferred chicken!!! Overrall… OK for sporst bar with food. A true tavern!!!
