Great place to eat. Good food and service. Really enjoy the smaller serving (by choice) at night. We eat there several times a week.

Yum! My burger was delicious (could barely fit it in my mouth). The party was a little thin, but honestly I put so much on it that it was perfectly fine. The sweet potato fries were incredible! Service was good. Would go back!

I was in town for 48 hours attending an interview with Lowe’s. Going off of previous Unilocal reviews, I decided to check this place out for dinner on a Tuesday night. I’m glad that I did — the food was incredible, and the wait staff was friendly and attentive. The owner spent 5 minutes with me going over the menu and talking about the sourcing and quality of the various beef, bison and poultry products. I ended up getting the fried green tomatoes to start, and a bison burger with the red pepper aioli and pepper jack cheese. I went with the grilled broccoli for my side. The entire meal was fantastic, came out in a timely fashion given that none of it was pre-​frozen, and well priced. I will definitely be back.

We visited for the first time last night and the food is awesome. You can tell that they are using top notch, fresh ingredients. I had the bison burger and it was great. Bison can dry out, but the burger was very juicy. Son had the turkey wrap and my wife had the spinach salad, both of which were very good. They have some local, craft beer on tap and soft local sods for the kids. The sweet potato fries were also very good. The staff was very friendly and they take a team approach to service. We will definitely be back.

Perfect place for burger lovers. I tried chicken and it was delicious. I had fried mushrooms as side and it was awesome. Definitely a place to revisit. Ambiance is contemporary and neat.

I really appreciate the intention to keep the food quality high, and the owners are really nice people and say hi when you come in. Food ranges from build your own buffalo and beef burgers, to fish options, salads, wraps, to gluten free and vegetarian options. Not fancy. But a good clean place to get some pretty good food.

Great little place! First time I’ve ever tried fried green tomatoes was here. The first time I fell in love with them — they were amazing! The second time they were really greasy, even by fried food standards. Still good, but just not as great as the first time. Everything else I’ve tried there was perfect, and I love the coupons for free appetizers or money off my next meal that I get in the mail! Lots of menu options to make everyone happy and prices are fair! Would recommend that everyone try! Parking is shared with plenty of other businesses but it’s nice because you can park once and walk around.

I think that Blu Star has become my favorite local restaurant. Their food consistently is so good and fresh! They offer counter or table service during their busy lunch time (we always order at the counter). The servers are friendly and fast and take care of you even if you order at the counter (bring your food, refill your drinks, etc.), so be sure to tip them!
We have gone for dinner a few times and I always get whatever seafood they have as a special and have never been disappointed. My husband loves their buffalo chicken wrap so much that he always orders it regardless of lunch or dinner. I honestly can recommend just about everything on their menu because I’ve tried almost everything at least once!
If you want a real treat – be sure to order their tomato soup whenever it is available– it is perfect. You will never be able to eat canned tomato soup again after having it. The seasoning is excellent and it has chunks of tomato and they top it with deep-​fried pasta as an unexpected crunchy treat. Seriously my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
I so prefer local restaurants to chains and was thrilled that Blu Star exceeded my expectations since it is so close to home.

The food was great and they were more than willing to accommodate my dietary needs. Would highly recommend for those who need gluten free, healthy options.

We went here a few weeks ago with family members who seemed to enjoy their food. Sadly, hubs and I can’t say that we did. I love that I could customize my burger but the burger patty was so tiny that I barely had two bites before it was gone (or maybe the ciabatta bread I ordered was too big to hold such a tiny patty). It reminded me of those tiny White Castle burger patties. Except for the price. The burger I was served here was definitely not worth the price I paid for it. I mean, the tomato slice was way bigger than my burger. I ordered fries but it never arrived. However, after seeing and tasting my son-in-law’s fries which was finally delivered after he had to remind the server that he ordered fries, I decided I didn’t want them after all. I don’t believe those fries were «cooked to order». They tasted like they had been sitting around for awhile.
Hubs ordered the meatloaf and loved the chef’s sauteed veggies that came with it. The rest of it he could’ve done without. Meatloaf had a grainy texture, lacked flavor and was dry. He didn’t finish it. We did enjoy the bowl of fried okra that we ordered as a starter and the chocolate cake after the meal was also pretty good.
We had to ask our server more than once to bring several items — like eating utensils, extra napkins, water for everyone — things that she shouldn’t have to be reminded to bring. This was a weeknight after 7pm and the restaurant was 90% empty. We appeared to be her only table. Our bill was over $ 100 and hubs and I didn’t like what we ate, plus our server appeared to be pre-​occupied and rarely checked on us. So in a nutshell — inflated prices, poor service and mediocre tasting food — that was our experience. I can’t see spending the money on the ‘locally sourced’, ‘fresh organic’ hype alone. The food has to actually taste good. So no, not coming back.

This is my most favorite restaurant in Mooresville! Everything is FRESH and always tastes delicious. The Mahi Mahi fish tacos, fried mushrooms, and chicken sandwich are my favorite items. The onion straws are also to die for! The manager is almost always making his rounds, talking to the customers, and asking how everything was. He says he only buys the best meats and freshest ingredients, and i believe him because everything always tastes amazzzzzing!!!

From the moment we walked in we felt welcome. As soon as we sat down the Owner came over and explained their wonderful philosophy on Fresh and organic ingredients. He explained the menu in detail and stayed for a short welcoming conversation.
The food was awesome! And the service is top notch! Very comfortable atmosphere!
This is definitely a place you must try! We will definitely be coming here again and again!

I had the special — Wild Alaskan Salmon, asparagus, brown rice with herb butter.
I had the herb butter on the side. The salmon was over cooked & dry. The asparagus with barely cooked & being large stalks it was all tough. The rice was great. On top of that it took a long time to be served even though I was the 2^nd person in the place. At $ 16 for the plate I was not pleased with the quality or price.

It was ok. Ordered the bison burger everyone raves about. It was good. We also ordered the fried green tomatoes and fried okra — both were yummy! The service is nothing to write home about. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. You get your own drinks. The staff are friendly. This place is very expensive however for no table service. Well, I just wanted to try it and now I have. I’m not dying to go back but if friends were going I’d join them.

My wife and I took a short road trip to Mocksville no really knowing much about the area but just wanting to go somewhere different. We came across this wonderful restaurant. When the owner didn’t recognize us as a regular, he came over to welcome us and tell us about the place. I ordered a turkey burger which I was able to actually get with turkey bacon which was great because I don’t eat read meat. I know any time I’m in the area I’ll be sure to go back.

Love this place. Gluten free and so yummy. During busy hours they do slow way down so be ready for a little wait.

Everything I’ve ever had here has been delicious. Their build-​a-​burger menu is really fun and has lots of options, including tasty healthy and vegetarian ones. If you’re a fan of mushrooms, please make sure to get their fried mushrooms as a side or appetizer — they are heavenly. No matter what you get, it’s pretty much guaranteed to be fresh, flavorful, and satisfying.
Service is also good and the atmosphere is really relaxed, clean, and quiet, so it’s a great place to go for conversation with minimal distractions.

This place is wonderful. Food takes a few minutes, but the wait is worth it. Everything is fresh. They have a comprehensive list of options for people with gluten issues, and all the meat is top quality.
The staff is really top-​notch. I have been there at least 8 times (haven’t been in the area long) and almost every time I’m there, the owner personally comes to check on my party.
Honestly, my favorite restaurant in the Mooresville area. And we have a LOT of places to eat!

Fresh and as Natural as Possible
I’ve been a fan since they opened. Concept is simple in that everything is fresh, as Gluten Free and non-​GMO as possible and prepared in a manner when as much of the flavor and character are preserved.
My wife and friends went to see Porgie and Bess in Charlotte and I was told to find diner where I liked. In my case, that place was Blu Star.
For an appetizer, I order the Chipolte Ranch Mushrooms which were excellent. For my main, I ordered the Catfish with Fries, homemade Coleslaw and a Cornbread Muffin. Aside from the Muffin being a bit hard, everything was perfect.
Our servers were excellent. The use a buddy system where one get’s busy, the others cover her tables for her to insure that no patron is left unattended.
Atmosphere is nice with a collection of signs and pictures from across the Continental US.
This is a favorite and you can’t go wrong.
