Not a good day for Nelly’s We usually place a large order and today it was $ 60 according to Alex he gets stuck with our orders when we call Today the pernil was dry and looked like it was left out Asked for quero and we got rubber skin Rice was very salty Called back to speak about our experience and all Alex could say was I guess it’s not a good day and he would relay our complaint to Nelly? Didn’t offer to make it right, refund? Not a great way to treat customers I think it’s time to try maybe Fat Boys across the street

Stopped in for Pernil with Rice and tostones. Everything came out nice hot and fresh. Very little wait even though it was the peak of the lunch crowd. Also ordered an empanada as it kept looking at me from behind the counter and I couldn’t resist. All delicious I will come back again and will recommend to all looking for Spanish cuisine.

Is this a best kept secret? A friend told us to check this place out and boy are we glad we did! Flavor of everything from the rice and beans to the chicken, pork and stewed goat is off the charts. Every bite is packed with herbs and spices and flavor that is considered in my book«HEAVEN». These people really know what they’re doing. If you love eating amazing food, check this place out.

Really good food and reasonable. I love the garlic sauce. I usually go for the roast chicken but also like the goat and oxtail for something different. I even got pigs feet there for a little something different. Friendly and fast it’s always a hit. I have to ask for less rice and beans because it’s so good and I just keep eating it

Food is horrible. Not genuine DOMINICAN food. Food had no flavor, seems like they don’t know how to season there food. And on the second visit, the meal I ordered wasn’t cooked the proper way. This restaurant is a place with a group of people that don’t know how to cook DOMINICANFOOD. They cook BASIC food. And then throw the Dominican Label on it. The only thing they can make correctly is dessert… And they don’t honor there hours of operations. Most of the time there closed on Sunday’s and close early

Ate here 3 times in 2 months and keeps getting better. Last week for time 3, fried chicken was sublime, rice and beans perfect. Took home extras and kept opening fridge for just one more bite… Great prices, great service, like being in Nellys kitchen at home but with a bunch of strangers. Can’t wait to go back.

I am so glad that Nelly’s Latin Restaurant has opened on Broadway in Monticello. This is by far the best Spanish food that I have ever had. I do not eat pork or beef but Nelly’s stewed chicken with yellow rice and peas is amazing. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are huge. I eat there at least once a week. The staff treats you like family and the restaurant is very clean. Thank you Nelly!

This is the best Dominican Food ever. The food is tasty, excellent, clean. Food is of the highest quality. Portions are large. I am one who is very particular with cleanliness and I give Nelly’s a five star rating. We go there at least once or twice a week and I must give Nelly’s the best recommendation for any restaurant in the area. The owner NELLY is such a wonderful and inviting person. Her staff is courteous and friendly. No one goes away unhappy. It is that good. It is a blessing to the area. we want Nelly’s to remain in the area for ever.

I am a huge fan of Latin food. So when I heard this place had opened I knew I had to try it and will likely return. The food was great, the prices excellent, and the portions huge. I had the beef stew with yellow rice and beans it was only $ 8.

Nelly’s Latin Restaurant — Dominican Food A Review With Puerto Rican and Ecuadorean blood flowing through these American veins, I tend to chafe at the possibility that OTHER Hispanic kitchens can compare to my ethnic ones. I don’t think I’ve ever been to an ALL Dominican Food eatery before therefore this was definitely going to be a totally new experience. The place, a storefront on Broadway in Monticello, is small and cozy with comfortable seats. Decoration is rather Spartan, BUT that has no bearing whatsoever on the food. There are three generations of women bustling about in the kitchen and at the counter, all in the family, which is nice to see. Pilar and I made this our Sunday«after Mass» lunch today as we wanted to «check out the new place.» There was a line when we went in and when we left the line had grown to almost outside the door. Onto the important stuff — the yummies. Though we did not ask for it, and these folks had absolutely no idea who I was or that I would be writing a review, they brought us out two cups of fresh made chicken soup with noodles and obviously freshly cut vegetables. It was quite yummy… almost soothing, but I suppose that is what chicken soup is supposed to do. Then came our main plates — Pilar asked for the Pollo Guisado(Stewed Chicken) with White Rice and I opted for the Bistec Encebollado(Steak and Onions) with Arroz con Gandules(Rice & Pigeon Peas) and we shared a plate of Tostones(Fried Green Plantains.) Everything was delicious and particularly exceptional were the Arroz con Gandules and the Tostones. I noted big chunks of Spanish olives in the rice, which really gave the dish a super yummy tanginess every time I bit into an olive chunk. I happen to love olives, so this was a BIGPLUS for me. And the Tostones were truly a delight. For lack of a better word, I found them to be almost«fluffy» as they were so light and crisp. They really were yummy for my tummy. We polished off our lunches with Dominican style Tres Leches cake and… uh oh, I cannot recall the name of the dessert I chose, but I think it was the Arroz con Leche. Being diabetic, I allowed myself a bite of each dessert just to be able to review them and they were quite good. A couple of teeny constructive critiques if I may — just a bit more«Cebolla» on the Bistec Encebollado would suit me fine and I hope next time we come, Nelly’s will have available what is on the menu. Forgiven this time because the food we did eat was good and they did just open so they’re still tweaking the place. All in All another wonderful Ethnic addition to our growing tally of diverse Monticello Restaurants, which are here to stay. Friendly service, great food, cozy environ are what make Nelly’s Latin Food another great go to place when you want something completely different!
