So, Ryan S. and I stayed at The Caroline House for my birthday this past year. His review pretty thoroughly lays out how wonderful this place this but I had to add my two cents(as always…) This place really was beautiful and well maintained. Mary truly loves what she does and it shows. She is genuinely sweet and accommodating. To be honest, I’ve always been a little leery of bed and breakfasts but always wanted to try one. This place did not disappoint. Clean, pretty, and sprinkled with little touches here and there to make it feel especially homey. I would certainly return. They also have bigger houses in the back. We stayed in a room in the main house, but you could do a family reunion in one of the houses in the back — it’s that big. The Caroline House is fabulous and so is Montgomery. Check it out(and while you’re there, be sure to go to Retreat Hill Winery, yum!)

Beautiful and historic house in Montgomery Texas. The innkeeper and owner, Mary, will take very good care of you including offering wine and cheese during your stay on top of a delicious breakfast. We only stayed the night, but for $ 135(plus tax) a night we enjoyed the serene surroundings, the well-cared for grounds, an extremely comfortable room(with our own bathroom) in the main house, and a hot cooked meal from Mary – quiche with pecan smoked sausage, potatoes, fresh fruit, bagels and coffee and juice. There was a family there and she even cooked some scrambled eggs special for their younger son. This was a great place to stay while spending the weekend up in Montgomery. There are two wineries in this small town, so it was nice to walk around the town, drink a bunch of good wine, and walk over to the Caroline House to relax on a swing or on a patio enjoying one last glass(or bottle) from one of those fine wineries.
