Dreamland Bar-B-Que

Went here for lunch while attending a conference nearby. Service was great — our waitress was super friendly. I had the rib plate for my lunch. Ribs were awesome, lots of meat on the bones. Just a little sauce on them, with more on the side, but the ribs were so tasty, I didn’t find the sauce necessary. I had the potato salad and baked beans to go along with my ribs. Potato salad was good, I like mine a little mustardy, so it was just my style. Baked beans were my one meh — they just tasted like they came from a can. I would just choose a different side next time. And there will be a next time, because it was a lovely place for lunch!

Decent BBQ, service is slow yet friendly. Beer selection is solid.
Banana cream pie was amazing!

Passing through on our way back from Panama City Beach, my parents stopped here last year and highly recommended their barbecue. Mark was our server, he was probably one of the best servers that I have ever had. The food is delicious and the banana putting is a perfect end!

This was my first time trying some real Southern bbq and I’m in love! We ordered our food To go and waited at the bar. The waitress was very attentive up there and at the end she let us know we could even take beers to go, which is something we definitely can’t do at home. I loved how juicy my chicken sandwich was and I liked the pickle addition. Mac and cheese was good and I loved the fried okra (would have been nice with some dipping sauce). Next time I’m back, I’ll be here first thing!

I am a big fan of dreamland’s food, however this location is probably the worst service (if you call no service service) I’ve received. I sat down at a high top table by the bar. The waitress took two tables orders while I sat there. No one asked for my drink order while I sat there for 16 minutes. I finally got up and left. The hostess just looked at me and never acknowledged me sitting there with no service or that I was leaving. Last time going to this location, I would advise you do the same. Stay away

The banana pudding is everything. Definitely have desert before the meal. Never tried the bow… heard it was lack luster but the pudding? Omg. Perfectly amazing! I’m definitely going to have cravings for it for the rest of my life and you will too.

Not that great. BBQ sauce was watery and kinda bland. One piece of bread and 5 pickles for their combo platter.

Ribs are awesome… Juicy, tender and full of flavor. Definitely my favorite option from the menu. I got a combo plate with those ribs and chopped pork, which was, on the other hand, a little disappointing. I loved the decoration, really eclectic, and service was very helpful. Thumbs up!

Stopped in for dinner and sat at the bar. Got the half rack of ribs along with baked beans and mac and cheese. My take was that the ribs were good, though I wish they were a little more tender. The sauce however was phenomenal. Sweet and savory, with a nice mustard taste, it did not disappoint. I enjoyed the baked beans immensely and found the mac and cheese to be lacking flavor, which others have said also. I finished the meal with the banana pudding and this was the bee’s knees. I would totally return here for the dessert alone.
The décor was cool with a honky tonk feel. There were a lot of people getting take out or to go orders at the bar, so I’m thinking that’s pretty popular for most locals.

While passing through town I just had to stop and see what this place was all about,. When it comes to BBQ and ribs… there is no other place to go than to Dreamland,. I sat the bar to let my phone charge up a bit before heading to the hotel… The Bar tender was really sweet and helpful.

I will start by saying we are very biased because we are from North Carolina and our BBQ is no joke and what we are known for. When we found out we were coming to Montgomery we decided we had to try Dreamland. It is not the best BBQ we have ever had but it is very good and a must if you are visiting Alabama. The sauce is very good and the ribs were tasty! The Banana Pudding is a must, some of the best I have ever had! You should absolutely make time to eat here!

Great BBQ joint! This place really hit on all points. I had the chicken /​pork salad and thought the food was great. The waiter handled a group of 12 extremely well, with no orders missed and prompt service. Everyone at the table seem to thoroughly enjoy the food. As a place to hang out, the bar looks well stocked with plenty of craft beers and a full array of TVs to watch the game. Prices were reasonable here as one would expect for a barbecue place I’ll definitely be back when I’m in town next.

I was driving through downtown Montgomery this past weekend and smelled the intoxicating aroma of Bar-​B-​Que wafting through the streets. I could think of nothing else. besides eating BBQ, and I had to have it right then. Lunchtime? Eh. close enough, and we did switch time zones coming in from Georgia, so I followed my nose and ended up at Dreamland.
Both Joe and I skipped right over the sandwiches and eyed the plates. I went for the Como plate with Sausage and Chopped Pork with a side of Baked Beans and Cole Slaw. How much Southern can I get? Not much more. especially after adding on a scoop of banana pudding, which the sign colored in crayon by the host stand labeled as «the best». I would agree.
My dining companion and future-​Yelper if he could remember his password, Joe, ended up getting the combo plate as well, choosing to add ribs in lieu of sausage like I did. His ribs were huge, and he probably could have eaten just the two that came on the plate and had gotten full. These were some of the biggest ribs I had seen and were full of meat.
I don’t know about other BBQ places in the area, but this one ranks up in the top few BBQ places I’ve been in a really long time. The BBQ sauce, ambiance, pork and beer all hit the spot! The only thing that could have made it better was beef brisket being on the menu, which it wasn’t.
In town for one day only? Add this place to your list to try out!

Ok, this place does not have great BBQ in my opinion, but the food was decent, the service was good, and the atmosphere was nice. The chicken was super dry and not memorable at all but I liked the nachos and the banana pudding was really really good! Our waiter was nice and funny… but Jim n Nicks has better BBQ even though it’s a national chain. Oh well!

Well let me start of by saying that this place was recommended by a lot of people and it did not fail to impress. This is a must go to place in Alabama if you are feeling for Bar B Que. It is a little drive of the interstate but it’s worth it, parking could be a challenge because it’s within the capital of Montgomery but it should be fine.
We had some bar b que chicken and pork ribs but the secret they say is in their sauce. The sauce was amazing it was worth trying, of course they give you their special sauce upon getting the food so you could add as you desire. For the sides we had potato salad and home made baked beans, I am not a huge fan of baked beans but this tasted really good, the potato salad was awesome as well.
The other good thing is that the place is not that pricey for that platter with the half of chicken and six pork ribs with the two sides was 12 dollars. Not a bad deal I would say.
Also Alabama is known for their iced tea and they have a home made iced tea which I am not kidding would be one of the top iced teas I have ever had, this is a must, again if you are not an iced tea drinker they would let you try it for free so there is no harm in that.
Of course I must conclude by saying the staff and service was excellent, could not have asked for a better experience at this place it totally lived up to my expectations.

The original Dreamland in Tuscaloosa has that rustic, hole in the wall feel. The Birmingham location near UAB brings close encounters with pits full of ribs and often young, attractive waitresses who are students nearby. This Montgomery location is much different than the others. It gives off a fun, upbeat atmosphere in an old revitalized brick building. Fortunately, they all dish out the same quality BBQ and if you aren’t high on Dreamland, there’s something wrong with you.
While their pulled pork remains average, few can contest the top-​notch ribs served to thousands of happy customers. When it comes to ribs (and the banana pudding) it’s hard to beat. Hands down, their ribs, and the thick sauce that they are drown in is awesome and some of the nation’s best and most consistent. These tasty, fall off the bone meaty ribs are a must-​try, if you like ribs. I’m not a big rib guy, but enjoy these.
The one drawback to Dreamland is the lack of choices. They offer ribs, pork (chopped and pulled), chicken (chopped and pulled) and sausage, that’s it. Meanwhile, how can you complain about a company waiting to focus on what they do well, and their ribs and chicken steal the show. If you come here for the pork, you are ordering the wrong thing.
If you rate Dreamland based on their ribs and banana pudding, it’s one of the best, period. Which means you need to make room for the banana pudding. Really, you do. It’s the best I’ve had after visiting more than 300 of the countries best BBQ spots. Try those two items (and some extra sweet– sweet tea) and you’ll be a lifelong customer.

What a nice BBQ restaurant in downtown Montgomery. A group of us, about 12, decided to venture down here on a Thursday evening.
We had a great waiter… Chris absolutely rocked!!! He was quick, patient and so friendly! We all pretty much ordered something different. I can tell you that the appetizers we ordered, Chicken Nachos, Quesadillas and Cheese Fries were quite tasty. I feel so guilty… I work out everyday but missed today due to this dinner, but it was totally worth it!
I ordered the pulled chicken salad with a side of macaroni and cheese. The salad was pretty good but again, the macaroni and cheese disappointed me. Sheesh. My quest to find the perfect, at least edible, mac and cheese continues. Smh.
Still, a great atmosphere. We sat outside and the outdoor fans definitely helped keep us cool. Will definitely revisit.

The BBQ isn’t the worst I’ve ever had, but nothing I would ever come back for. Same for the mac and cheese. The people who are raving about the banana pudding have clearly never made a box of Jello pudding before. If you love Chinese buffet pudding, then you’ll flip for it. If you’ve ever actually had banana pudding before, save yourself.
The interior was eclectic and nicely decorated and my waiter, Chris, was very helpful. However, the food took forever to come out despite the fact that I was one of the only people in there. The price for what I got was only okay. And the bartender looked at me like I was wasting his time when I asked for a new go-​cup as the one I got was leaking. I’m sorry to have wasted your time then, sir.
If anyone tries to tell you they’re the best BBQ they’ve ever had, just nod politely and tell yourself that chain restaurants, suburbs, and «caution: hot coffee» signs had to be created for someone.

Had the ribs. They were good. That is all.
