Wonderful food and fantastic service. I had the chicken burrito and it was very fresh and tasty. I will definitely be back soon.

This is the worst place I’ve been to in a very long time. I was with a large group, 18 or so, on a Saturday night in May. If we didn’t come in that night there literally would have been only 4 customers the entire night. We got there at 6 and when we left after 8pm, they were still empty. Not a good sign. The food was worse than mediocre, the building was grimy and falling apart, and the patio has a corner full of junk from the kitchen covered in a tarp. The two girls working the front of the house were nice, but that was the only positive part of the experience. I felt cheated because we were only in Monterrey for 1 night and I wasted it on this place.

Good service. I have been here multiple times and enjoyed their Cliff Hanger Burger, fish tacos, and Carne Asada! Carne Asada anything is really good. If you are looking for a starter choose the calamari! You won’t regret it.

I thought the service was really great. Debbie, I believe her name was, was helpful, friendly, and conscientious. I also enjoyed my meal. I ordered one carne taco and one chicken taco. I thought the carne asada one was better. I sat outside and it was a beautiful day. I appreciated the fresh flowers on the table and in the garden.

We were visiting Monterey for the weekend and came here because it was close to the hotel. We were really impressed! The service was great! Our server was very friendly and efficient. The food was delicious. My husband had the fish tacos and said they were some of the best he’s ever had. My son couldn’t even finish his kid’s bean burrito because it was such a good portion for a kid’s plate. I had the enchiladas and they were amazing. Best red sauce I’ve had in a long time. My daughter just had a side of rice and beans but ate every last bite, which is a big deal for her. The chips and salsa were very fresh and really good! The reason for the four stars is because of the beer selection. They don’t have anything on draft and had a limited selection of bottled beer. It may have been because it was the day after St. Patty’s Day but they advertise a craft beer selection and they only had a few domestic and two Mexican beers to choose from. Other than that, great place! We will definitely visit it again next time we’re in town!

Amazing new place for traditional Mexican food. With hand made tortillas to order. The best chile reyenos I have ever tasted at a restaurant! If you are not feeling like Mexican they have an extensive menu with other great options, like burgers and salads. Prices are very reasonable around 12.00 a plate and lunch specials. I think it’s my new fav spot!

Read about this place in the Weekly and we were excited to give it a try. So Saturday evening at 6:30 we tried to go. Door was locked. We could see people in there but door was locked. So we thought ‘well it’s called the other side so maybe that means the entrance is on the other side.’ So we walked all around but no other entrance. So we went back and tried the door Again and yep – it was locked!!! I wanted to knock but my husband was like ‘no way am I giving money to a place that has a locked door at 6:30 on a Saturday night.’ We started walking away and a gal came up to the door – /we watched to see if it was just us but nope! The door really was locked. She walked away too. So hello business owner! Try keeping your door open and maybe you will get more business! We are local and Mexican food lovers but won’t go back to such a joke of a business.

Wow! I’m so glad my normal spot(The Chinese restaurant next door) was so busy the other night or I may have never discovered The Other Side! My husband, daughter and I came in last Friday night around 5:30. We were greeted right away and seated at a nice table overlooking the restaurant. Full Bar? Blended margaritas?! Happy momma! Not only that but my husbands cadillac margarita was the BEST! and he doesn’t throw that word around lightly. Needless to say, our bartender Rigo was fantastic! Homemade chips and salsa were amazing. Our server, Sam was super friendly and great with kids, my daughter drew her a picture with the crayons she brought her :) The food OMG the food! Between us we had the calamari appetizer and garlic fries. We actually placed a second order of the calamari because my daughter decided she wanted it for her meal, it was that good. The hubby and I split the caesar salad and the steak fajitas. I wish I would have thought to take a picture, the presentation was beautiful, the steak was so tender and flavorful… we literally inhaled it! I was surprised to read some of the other reviews… food was far from bland and the restaurant most definitely doesn’t have a dirty feel. We will definitely be back, possibly tomorrow to try Taco Tuesday!

Horrible service and no customers were in there for them to have as an excuse! Had a dirty feel to the room. Had to ask for chips and salsa refill as they took so long to fill our order, which was desperate on our part, as the chips and salsa definitely tasted store bought and not homemade. The waitress took my glass to refill and never brought it back. I ordered cheese enchiladas. Rice tasted bland and almost soapy? Beans were horrible! I think the enchilada sauce was that bright red stuff from a can. I am giving them two stars because my dining companion hated El Palomar food, which I really enjoyed, but he really liked his fajitas offered off the new menu. I will not be going back. SOMANY great Mexican restaurants around, why waste ones time and money on such store purchased offerings.

This place is the location that was formerly El Palomar. They finally replaced the Regan-era TVs and put some flat screens in the bar. Chips and salsa were fresh tasting and good. The large steak nachos were HUGE and delicious. The pozole was quite good, although not the most authentic(no knuckle bones, what?). The server did not charge me for soda refills, so either they changed the policy that another reviewer mentioned, or something. All in all, this is a good upscale Mexican place, with lots of burgers and sandwiches thrown in. They are not the cheapest, as you could probably get the same meal at a hole-in-the-wall in Seaside for 25−35% less. But they do have a full bar and all the TVs, so football is a possibility.

I almost dropped a third star because this place charges for refills of soda, but they don’t advertise it anywhere that I saw. 3 Cokes at 2.50 a pop adds up. Food here is pretty standard. I judge Mexican by the quality of their refried beans, and these were par for the course, as was the rest of our food. The only standouts were the chicken fajitas(nicely cooked) and surprisingly, my daughter’s grilled cheese sandwich which had yummy goat cheese in it. We came for lunch, and the place was mostly empty and under staffed. Things took a long time, but our server was very nice and did all he could to help us out. Not a terrible spot, especially if you want to avoid the Fisherman’s Wharf tourist trap. Prices were fair.

AKA El Palomar Restaurant. Went there tonight. Friday night. Place was a «ghost town» nearly empty. Ordered steak quesadilla that was greasy, and guacamole old and discolored. Chicken enchilada was inedible. Sauce weird, guacamole grey. Now I know why they had no customers on a Friday night. Took Pepto right when I got home to avoid the aftermath. Only good thing was our waitress. nice and friendly. She should find a better place to work.
