Oh my goodness, stop here if you get a chance! The food was good, but the owner(I’m sorry to say I forgot his name) and his grandson are about the two most personable people on the planet! As I sat next to him waiting for my to go order, we had the nicest conversation. Now I’ve been told not to expect that Thursday-Saturday, when they are slammin’, but Mon-Wed, expect some nice conversation and some good food.

Wow! Like others who stayed at the hotel across the street, we ventured a short walk across the road to see why the manager said that«we Must… try Rocky Pops!» Wow, was she ever right! The BBQ was so great, forget good, it was great! The Brisket was so Awesome; as was the the pulled pork that was also superb. If you don’t know what to order, get the sampler… we did, and all I can say is «Yum!»

Back on a road trip, you hope you discover something that is local and interesting. I think this place qualifies. Conveniently located to an exit and across from a fast food establishment, this place offers an alternative. From the outside, it would like the food is home made. They offered both barbecue and fish options such as groper and flounder. As I step in, the place, it literally feels like you are stepping into someone’s house. I see two people talking about cooking and local events as I take my seat. I decide to go with the grouper. First impression. not bad, the cole slaw as ok to me but not the kind I’m used to. The winner of the meal was the apple pie made on the premises. It doesn’t look like much in the picture since I requested it warmed up, but it tasted«real», unlike the usual store bought apple pie I eat. It also didn’t hurt that I overheard the person across a table(possibly the owner) how he takes pride in the food and the pies he makes. Overall, not a bad place to go if your in the area and looking for a home-like ambiance and meal.

Stopped here randomly because we were staying across the street at the Bethel Inn. The bbq was delicious. I highly recommend the baked beans.
