two employees speaking Spanish to each other about what to charge me when i asked to get a small soda with the kids. I don’t speak Spanish and asked what they said Then they did not answer my question and just charged me.

It really bothers me when a business is losing money because their employees fail to ask if there is something else I want to order. The clerk went right to the customer behind me and asked what they wanted. Hello I still have another sandwich to order.

First… let me say I am not a fan of the Subway sandwich franchise… never have been.(Albeit, Jared Fogle is a pretty cool and compelling spokesman) But, when you’re not in the mood for fast food this is actually a relatively healthy alternative and generally speaking you know what you’ll get. That being said, most Subway sandwich shops leave much to be desired. Either the employees are not very friendly or their efforts are not very centered around making a good quality product. And truth be told, I’ve really never thought much about their product, and I’ve been visiting Subway sandwich shops since they first started. The bread was always too soft, I always thought they skimped on meat and threw an entire salad in the bread… which is NOT a sandwich to me!(I’m certain if he could be asked, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, John Montagu, the eponymous inventor of the«sandwich» would agree with me as his original creation was simply bread and meat!) …anyway…I digress… Actually, I think if it weren’t for Jared Fogle’s very compelling story and implied health benefits from eating at Subway… this franchise probably would have become yet another franchise gone to the restaurant graveyard. …sorry… However, at this particular Subway… they do everything right! Which is why it gets 5 stars… not because in comparison to other food establishments it is great… simply that at far as Subway sandwich shops go, this one is the best in the Monterey Bay area. The bread is always perfectly done, the ingredients in the sandwiches always very fresh and precisely measured out(talking meats here!) and the produce items fresh. It helps that this place also has a steady high volume to keep their food items turned over quickly. As for the staff, every food service restaurant should have employees this friendly. They all seem to be smiling and genuinely glad you are there and do everything quickly and will take just about any special request you can make. If you have to eat at Subway,(admittedly, I do often now… as this particular Subway is about a 2 min walk from my front door) then this is the only one you should eat at if you want to experience the best Subway has to offer.

i would give them 5 stars becuase location is perfect and sandwiches are good and healthy, but the a lot of the staff doesn’t understood English. Almost everytime I have been there, they all speak Spanish to each other and out of 4 or 5 staff members, there is 1 or 2 that understand English, and translate to the others. Some staffers don’t even know the ingrediants for the sandwiches, they look at me to TELL them what to put on the sandwich. I wish I could talk to the owner, I am a long time local resident of this area and I think he should know what is going on.

The service here was fantastic. They opened early for me when I was standing outside waiting. The breakfast sandwiches are pretty good and if you get a 6 inch breakfast sandwich it comes with a coffee so helps kill two birds with one stone.

What is it with these Restaurants. All of them have been skimping on the ingredients. I know its not just my opinion because the three people in front of me all had to say«more peppers», «more pickle», «more this and that». I asked for bell pepper and the girl put 3 very small strips on a footlong sandwich! «More please?» I asked for pickle, i got 4 slices! «more pickle please?» My $ 12 sandwich barely weighed anything. I am certain that the amount of meat on the sandwich was also shorted as much as it could be. This is the same experience I have had with the other store in the area(on Fremont). I am guessing that the ownership is the same because the unfriendly attitude and the shorting of ingredients is blatant and common to both operations. I am done with Subway!

I think I’ve visited all of the Subway restaurants on the Monterey Peninsula at one point or another over the years. By far, this Subway has the friendliest staff. They also don’t skimp on the ingredients and really make a great sandwich. I was there earlier today and was in and out in less than 3 minutes. Thumbs up.

I am pretty much a regular here because this place is inexpensive, fast, fairly healthy, and close to my apartment. There is almost always no line, so it’s nice and fast. I have found that when there is a long line, it’s super slow. My main complaint with this place is that it’s hard to understand the people that work there.
