My wedding makeup artist referred me to Olivia for my cut, color, and highlight right before my wedding. Since I was pleased with my makeup girl, I trusted her referrals. Olivia cut my hair, did a base color, and then put in highlights at her tiny salon. I was absolutely mortified with the end result. My highlights came out super streaky and chunky. It didn’t even blend nicely with the rest of my hair. I felt like I was back in high school with cheap looking highlights. What infuriated me even more was she charged me about $ 85 EACH for the color and highlight. And then the cut was about $ 55. Then she asked for cash only. I’ve gone to nicer salons that didn’t even charge me that much and usually offer complimentary cuts with your color. After reading some of the other reviews, I really feel ripped off. She should not be charging that much for the type of service she provides at her salon. She is not a grand 5 Star salon!!!

Never write a review before and decided to write one because of a nice hair cut. Had a hair cut two weeks ago at this salon after reading few reviews from Unilocal and gave it a try. It isn’t a fancy salon but very comfortable place with reasonable price to have a satisfied hair cut. Olivia listens to my idea and gives her opinion to have a make its better. I like this place. Definitely going back next time!

I like my haircut a lot, but I would give this place a total 5 just based off of working with Olivia alone. She’s fluent in English which really helps this olé ABC communicate what she wants done with her hair. Olivia is trained in Hong Kong and keeps up by training out here in the States as well. As another Unilocaler mentioned, she really takes her time to listen to what you want but will tweak according to what she thinks makes the most sense for your hair. She has a gentle, intentional demeanor which I really liked a lot and asked me how for feedback before we finished the cut so we could work on the hair some more. I have had my hair cut by several different stylists, and by far she has been a favorite for the reasons mentioned. My wash, cut and dry was $ 30.

After searching through countless salons, my cousin referred me here. I got my hair done for Prom by Olivia and saying that I was happy about the service and the outcome is an understatement! I showed her a picture of what I wanted done, and that’s exactly what she did. She was very friendly and was helpful with tips to keep my hair from falling throughout the night. If you’re looking for someone to do your hair for a special event, I suggest you ask for Olivia!

After reading some Unilocal reviews, I decided to give this place a try. Olivia was super friendly and listened to all the concerns I had about my over-​color treated, dry hair. She tailored to my every request on how I want my hair to look and gave suggestions to best suit my needs.
I was really happy with my new cut and I would definitely recommend her!

I’ve been coming to Kim’s since 2009. Olivia has done everything from haircuts, hair color to straightening for my family. Every visit is an exceptional visit. Olivia listens to what you want and what you don’t want. She offers suggestions that are based on your style. In the end we’ve always left with the perfect style even when we’ve come to her without a clear idea of what we want. LOL TIP: Bring a picture of styles you like it makes it easier for Olivia to get started. Otherwise you’ll find yourself trying to rip through magazines and doing internet searches on the spot.
Our last visit was for my daughter’s hair and makeup for her senior portrait. This was a tough visit because my daughter is pretty low key and doesn’t wear makeup or style her hair beyond the everyday low ponytail. Olivia had recommended we email her some pictures of hair styles my daughter liked, but we didn’t do our homework and showed up with a vague idea of what to do for a hairstyle. Not to worry! Olivia quickly gave us some suggestions. My daughter loved the style. Thanks Olivia!!!
The makeup was a no brainer … a natural look. I have to admit I was nervous about this… since my daughter doesn’t wear makeup any makeup is too much for her, even for a natural look. When the false eyelashes went on the look really came together. When Olivia was done and my daughter was smiling, and I was smiling too. We all hugged. I know, I know… corny.
I now know I can trust Olivia with hair and makeup.

Michael cuts hair for me and my husband, he listens to you well and really takes his time. I have ridiculously thick hair, michael is able to thin my hair without making my hair looking too short.

A week ago I went to a hair salon in Santa Monica but I did not like how it came out. She didn’t listen to how I wanted it at all. About 4 years ago I went to Olivia for a bob hair cut and I remembered I really liked it so I decided to go back to get my haircut fixed. I showed her how I wanted it and at the end it came out exactly how I wanted. She actually listened to me and even gave some great suggestions. I learned my lesson going somewhere else. And to top it off she charged a good price. It cost me only $ 30 when it cost me $ 60 in Santa Monica. I paid less here and actually really liked it! Definitely coming back! (:

I’ve been going to Kim’s Hair Design for about 3 years now. It is a small, family owned hair salon. Olivia always cuts my hair and does the straight perm for me. She is very friendly and accommodating. She really takes her time with her client and never rushes to get the job done. She also gives ideas/​suggestions about your hair style. I believe she keeps a log about her clients as well so she knows exactly what I got done last time. Very professional. Price is reasonable. There is parking in the back. I always call ahead to make an appointment just to be safe.

First person to reviewed this, yeayy!!! Come to this salon on saturday afternoon, I didn’t making appoinment yet, coz I just wanna stop by to look the atmosphere first. small venue with nice and clean decorations. I said I want some hair cut, so they wash my hair, give conditioner, and serum first then the cut started. Michael, the one who cut my hair. I told him that I want my bangs below my eyebrows so with my wet hair being cut I’m afraid after it gets dry the bangs shrinking. he’s so careful and listen to every words that I said (I traumatized get silly hair look). He always ask me after he cut an inch,“ok?” Yup, I’m satisfied with my new look. thx michael. For the price is still affrodable for careful hair designer (my bill $ 30)
