Wow. I think I finally found my haircut place!
After dropping off my son for his enrichment class nearby, I walked into this salon not expecting much and thought I would just get a needed trim but I was totally blown away by Helen.
I have hard, wavy, long Asian hair that has a lot of volume and is very difficult to cut. I hate getting haircuts because I often walk out with a cut that upset me for weeks. I rarely return to the same hair salon ever since I am out of school many years ago. I have been to places that charge from $ 15 to $ 200 for a cut. While the pricey places generally produce somewhat better cuts from a pure technical standpoint, they don’t always look good on me. Over the years, with increasing frustration with my haircut experiences, rather than keeping my hair short (which requires frequent trimming), I keep my hair long and simply tie it up on a bad hair day.
I walked into Jin Ye asking to get my bangs trimmed and may be get some layers to lighten up the long thick hair for the summer. Helen spent a good 45 minutes cutting and styling my hair until I had to leave to pick up my son and I walked out extremely happy, with a great cut full of artful layers that really framed my face well and brought out my natural wavy curls. The best part is it is so easy to maintain. My hair looks great even after sticking my head under a hand blow dryer at the gym or just towel drying it. I LOVE my new haircut!
All that for a grand total of $ 25!!!
I expect the salons in the neighborhood would have reasonable pricing due to the fierce competition (there are maybe 10 – 20 salons within walking distance of Jin Ye; and MY «walking distance» isn’t all that long). But Helen’s masterful skill was quite a pleasant surprise. I am happy to say that this is a salon that I WILL return, hopeful for years to come.

Awesome place to go to. Clientele is usually 35+, asian moms and grandmothers, but good service, decently priced, and they know how to cut asian hair. When I go I usually ask for Helen, who has been cutting my hair for a long time now.
Be sure to call for an appointment, as it gets fairly crowded during the afternoon hours.
I usually have a gripe about places that are CASH ONLY, but for the prices they charge, I’m willing to forgo my usual complaint.
