I love their beef noodle. I think it’s the best beef noodle soup in LA. So I always visit here at lunch time. BUT I’m afraid that their service is too bad. Only one girl in the front, and she always looks SAD! And if there are too many people here(more than 3 table), you never expect she to help you. No water unless you ask for it for a couple of times!

This is my favorite place to eat noodles in Monterey Park. Their lamb noodle soup is amazinggggg. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about it. The lamb slices are so tender. They use hand cut noodles are and a soy base for their broth(although it’s easily mistaken for being cream base). It’s a really small shop and doesn’t look like much from the outside but if you live around Monterey Park/San Gabriel, you have to try this place. I’ve also tried their beef noodle soup and their tomato egg noodles which are equally as good. Large portions for very cheap prices.

We had Lamb noodle soup, beef noodle soup, beef roll for lunch. Every was good, especially the lamb noodle soup. It’s worth for us drive all the way from Santa Monica. They also have parking in the back, very convenient.

This is a small restaurant. Food is delicious. The noodles were full of flavor. Ordered the clear beef noodle soup, bean paste noodles, wonton noodles and beef stew noodles. Noodles are homemade and hand torn. The beef roll was full of meat and vegetables. The fried leek dumplings were huge. Well come back again.

Try the goat meat soup with homemade noodle, so good! I’m a picky eater and this dish blows everything else away ! The combination side dish is good as well. Owner is a nice old lady with limited English, so know what to order before you go. Excellent and fast service otherwise. Highly recommended !

If you are torn about which noodle soup to order, the clear winner is the lamb noodle soup. The meat is super tender, but the soup is to die for. By far the best I’ve had in sgv. Exceptionally friendly service, will keep me coming back for sure.

I love this place :) they’re fast, clean and of course very delicious. Normally it’s very quiet in the restaurants because most of their customers order takeout. If you want a small, quiet restaurant with good food then this is my very best recommendation. I love their beef rolls, not only do they stuffed it with lots of beef, it came with lots and lots cilantros and cucumbers! I need some veggies in all my plates. Anyways, this place serves one of the best Taiwanese beef stew noodles, beef rolls, and of course their dumplings are good too.

So good. This is the first time I’m having lamb noodle soup, and it tastes amazing. I ordered it with flat ramen, which was very chewy. I think the soup base has milk in it! My friend who is a chef said that the hand rolled noodles are even better than the ramen.

Craving something soupy with a lotta noodle? Look no further! Kam Hong Garden satisfied my noodle soup craving that day. And you can tell that broth was treated with lots of love. Also, you can’t beat their large portions and cheap meals. I had their lamb noodle soup and goddamn it I almost cried at how they got the broth to be both flavorful and light at the same time. Noodles were nice and chewy. Lamb slices were soft and delicious. I would definitely come here again when I’m back in the LA area.

This place is good if you’re looking for authentic beef noodle soup and dumplings. I’ve been here a few times and their selection of dumplings are pretty good. I also really like their lamb noodle soup and the fried beef roll. They have this appetizer that’s kind of like a chewy tofu noodle thing that’s good too.

I can’t believe I haven’t come here in all the years I’ve been in SGV. I was craving handcut noodles, and found this place on Unilocal.Got here around 3:30 in the afternoon and the restaurant’s appearance was not particularly impressive. There were two other people sitting in the fairly small dining area. We ordered the beef noodle soup with the thick noodles to share. I saw some pictures of meat pies on Unilocal, but could not identify it on the menu. So I showed the waiter, and in our mismatched phrases of Mandarin muddled with English and Cantonese, he indicated that the pics were mistakenly put here because the meat pies are from the restaurant across the parking lot. So I ordered leek pies instead – best decision EVER. The noodles were good. They were not spicy or super oily like some places. The beef was cut into large chunks instead of thin slices, effectively giving us more meat than we could finish between the two of us. The soup was not overly salty, but had a yummy flavor. It really satisfied that craving I was having. The leek pies were absolutely something to write home about! Sauteed leeks with some shrimp and a small bit of egg, neatly tucked into a half moon shape with crimped edges. Pan fried just the right way to make it crisp on the outside, but not soggy or super oily. The juices that poured out were heavenly. The pies were fairly hot, so I tore them in half to speed up the cooling process(I had burnt my tongue on a scallion pancake just days prior, so I was careful this time!). I would totally go back and gorge on these pies. From the pictures on Unilocal,I know I really want to try their beef roll as well. I personally don’t like sandwiches or pies that are crammed with meat. I like a good balance of meat and veggies, so the bunches of cucumber tucked into the beef roll makes it all the more appealing for me. Until next time!

they went through a mgmt change where the quality of the food suffered but they are back on point and i don’t give 5 stars. so four stars is a big deal. kam hong was all about the noodles. the noodles are still great, but it’s not just about the noodles anymore. the two noodle dishes we ordered were the pork noodle soup with pickled vegetable & the dry tomato/egg, both with the wide flat noodles. the noodles were great, but the dish would have been good with thinner noodles. maybe not as great, but still good. their version of the beef roll contains cucumber, but did not get soggy. their beef also included pieces of tendon. it’s one of the better beef rolls in the SGV. similar attention to detail with their version of(oddly enough) pork tonkatsu, which came out perfectly crispy and stayed that way longer because they served the curry sauce on the side instead of on the top. cash only. the person who waited on us spoke enough english that if you don’t speak mandarin it won’t be an issue.

I felt a little uneasy when my mom and I were the only ones in the restaurant for a Sunday lunch. And they only take cash … it’s always nerve-wrecking when you know you might not have enough so you have to watch what you order. We only ordered two dishes, but they were plenty enough for the two of us that we had enough to take home and eat for dinner! It looks like Kam Hong Garden has gone through a menu renovation. The dishes that they serve seem to be different from the ones I had tried a few years ago. They don’t have xiao long bao(which is what I wanted when I walked into the store), but they do offer a variety of noodle soups, dry noodles, rice, dumplings, wraps, etc. And with the noodles, there are three different types you can order from! The beef noodle soup was really good! I was pleasantly surprised at how much meat was in the dish. They also had a good amount of green onion and cilantro that garnished the soup. The beef was tender and soft, the soup had rich flavor and wasn’t too spicy … but it was the thick hand-cut noodles that was the star of the meal. I love thick noodles, and I especially loved Kam Hong’s thick cut noodles! Chewy, but not too dough-y, there was enough substance yet the noodles still carried the flavor of the broth. If I needed to be picky about this dish, I would say that the soup could have a little more flavor. There wasn’t enough noodles, but we did have a lot of beef and soup left, so I would recommend ordering an extra plate of noodles(maybe even something different!) so you can have enough noodle to complement the beef and soup. We also ordered the beef wrap — I remember the visit before, I had griped that they put too much melon into the wrap. But this time, even though there was a substantial amount of cucumber, it didn’t detract from the beef or the sweet barbecue sauce! And the skin was crispy! I really liked that there was melon inside because it gave the wrap a sweetness that most other restaurants don’t have. I think there were five total wraps … we could only finish two! tl;dr — Overall, great lunch. Prices weren’t too costly — we paid a little under $ 20 for two people. The service was okay. I think the restaurant has a new owner(seems like a family business), which is nice since it’s always great to support family owned businesses! Good amount of air conditioning on a great day! I would definitely come here again … the beef noodle soup beat Bull Demon King in my opinion.

Seriously, what is up with all the 3 star reviews up in here? This is actually one of the most underrated noodles places in the 626 but hot damn… Shit was bomb diggity… Fried Sauce noodles/炸酱面: Probably the most unique style I’ve tried with Diced tomatoes and cilantro!!! DUDe… SHITTONOFCILANTRO. Shit was NASTTTTTY but beyond that the noodles were superb. The texture was amazing… My noodle game has been on point recently and I’ve hit three really good spots within the past few days including Malan, Xian Kitchen, and Kam Hong Garden *Make sure you get the extra thick noodles for $ 2. WELLWORTHIT. Total bill was $ 10 for a kick-ass amazing lunch. HOTDAMN. *Cash only. JY *Hope my picture is persuasive enough.

This was my favorite place until something happened. The cook got sick? Change of ownership? Reading the other reviews, I guess it was the latter. My very last visit… I got a couple of items(we usually order a lot so we can take home at least half of our food) and one of them was fried rice. First, the fried rice was soggy. Something fried rice shouldn’t be. Then I was chewing on something that didn’t taste right… I knew it was rude, but I spit it out in my napkin and… the chicken was raw! It was doubly rude to take a picture of what I spit out, but I had to… for proof to post on Unilocal. Please click and go to my Flickr page if you REALLY want to see it. Warning: It’s pretty gross. Everything didn’t taste good, so we had a bunch left over and left… But they packed it up and ran after us with the to go boxes. I felt sooooo guilty but I threw it away in the trash bin in the dump. If anyone knows where the cook went… please let me know.

I’m so sad the knife cut noodles and the man who stood next to the cashier making fresh noodles are gone. :(I’m also sad that everything else that I enjoyed eating from the original menu is gone as well. I’m disappointed. Guess I didn’t get the memo on the change of ownership. The new menu is so hard to read/understand. Not everything is translated. The pictures don’t have english captions. Our server didn’t speak canto so I was out of luck. It was strictly mandarin. We ordered mushroom w/pork and bok choy w/pork dumplings. They were meh. The beef noodles. eh. sigh.

I’ve been obsessed with fresh hand made noodles and Kam Hong Garden was another one on my list. On most days, Kam Hong Garden is open until 9:30. Situated in a small plaza on Garvey, Kam Hong Garden is the first of the restaurants in the little plaza. Cash only and probably has 10 tables max? We arrived at 8:30 and the waiter greeted us right away. Sensing that we were non-mandarin speakers, he did his best to communicate with us in english. Both the waiter and the owner, who came around refilling our waters all the time, were soo sweet! We ordered the following for two people: –Cold cucumber appetizers ~$ 3: Personally for me their cucumber dish was too garlicky and not vinegary/pickely enough. Even after the entire meal, the overwhelming taste of garlic was still lingering. –Beef tendon knife cut noodles $ 7: The broth in this was amazing. Not MSG infused, very light, and just the right amount of flavor. I wanted to just drink it alone. Since everyone recommended the knife noodles, that’s what we went for. Personally, the knife noodles were a bit tough for me. I wish it was a little lighter and not so heavy. In terms of the tendons they were very tender. The dish would have been amazing if the noodle to tendon ratio was a little better. They were slightly skimpy on the meat –Beef Rolls $ 6: also known as the scallion pancake rolls with slices of marinated beef, sweet sauce, and cold veggies wrapped up. Personally for my taste, I would have liked the pancake part to be a little crispier. The plus is that it wasn’t greasy at all. In terms of the sauce, it was very sweet and hoisin tasting. –Xiao Long Bao ~$ 7.50: You get 8 pieces per order. Surprisingly the xiao long bao was pretty good. It was juicy, the wrapping not too thick, and the flavors very subtle. I’m not too sure what to compare this to since i’m not a fan of ding tai fung version…(overrated!) Overall our entire meal was only around $ 25(including tip and tax). We also had lots of leftovers and was stuffed. Would I recommend this place? Yes, sure, why not? It is the best I’ve had? eh can’t say that it is. however, prices are very reasonable and the servers very nice and the food is good. So if you’re in the area and some of the other places are out of reach, give it a go.
