The zha Liang donuts rolls can be more fresh. Its should be crunchy when fresh, but it tastes chewy and old. Came here for breakfast. The beef brisket noodle is very watered down, they should add more beef gravy sauce. No parking lot.

Best, quality porridge in the SGV — harkens to perfect, Hong Kong style being«meen» and on fleek! The Hong Kong style dishes are also perfect, and the fun cheurng was perfectly chewy with the beef tender and tasty. The shrimp fun cheurng actually had full, fresh shrimp with no pork. The seats are also more comfortable, although I liked the traditional redwood furniture they had a long time ago. We have been coming here for the past 5 years, and this place is consistently good. I love the current setup with HK style seating with some of the traditional redwood style designs on the wall.

Who invites people to a place they themselves rated 3 stars? [-___-] Phil does but only because he has higher standards for what he calls his Cantonese comfort food. And I’m glad he did. Every single dish I tried was so good. Hong Kong Milk Tea Garlic Snap Pea Leaves — looked like spinach to me but I really wouldn’t know exactly how a snap pea leaf is supposed to look like anyway. Enough garlic flavor in there with a little bit more salt but still good. House Fried Rice with scallops House Tofu –this is a must try. Braised Pork Belly — how can anyone not like pork belly? This reminds me of Filipino pork adobo. I definitely will be back for more.

Beef fried noodles, vegetables, fried fish(3⁄10) Fried noodles were a bit dry. Their hot sauce went bad as it had a sour taste, which made me throw half the plate away. The veggies were a bit hard but tastes alright; they didn’t seem to cut off the hard parts when washing. The fish was bland and overlooked as it was really hard but soy sauce made up for the slack in taste. It was crispy on the outside but since the sauce was just poured on the plate, one side of the fish was soggy. Service was good as the waitress never kept our teas full. Cleanliness was terrible. The ground was sticky, the plates still had food crusted on it, the chairs were taken by food crumbs. However they do have a health rating of B. I highly don’t recommend you to come here as I heard about the cockroach infestation and seeing how unsanitary this place was I’m starting to believe it. However, this place is REALLY cheap during lunch so that’s a plus!

even though i think this place is good, my husband rates it a 2 star. per his taste buds, this is a cardiac friendly place! if youre on a 3g sodium diet, by all means, come. the whole night, he has salt shaker glued to his hand. bland… staff are friendly and attentive. so, if your doctor said, «low salt» come!

Stopped by to get some Cantonese food to go on way back home! Their Hong Kong tea is super fresh but too late to have it now… their congee is very smooth here so got the fish fillet congee and thousand year egg with pork congee! It’s not the best but it’s way above average! Then got the intestinal, tripe, gizzard haw fun soup! And side of veggies! One of the older places that lost a little of the following to newer places but always pretty reliable! The wait is usually minimal so you can fm come here and start eating within 10 – 15 minutes of arriving!

Yesterday, led by one real Chinese person, we had a party of 8 at Har Lam Kee for a Chinese New Year’s Eve lunch. We all enjoyed it, the prices are reasonable, the service fantastic, and the ambiance okay. The only dish that did not go over too well was the lobster. The pieces were not the best selections. But, we had so much to eat, we hardly noticed. Our authentic Chinese guest liked it so much that he ordered his dinner by take out!

Although it’s apparently mostly known for it’s breakfast givings, this is a great place to have dinner as well. I’ma big fan of the House Special Tofu, Sweet & Sour Pork, French Style Filet Mignon, Fried Rice plates, and a number of others. The staff is pleasant and expedient — great place if you’re feeling like Cantonese comfort food!

Good food however very small portions for the lunch special items. Parking is so so and however, the service and quality of the food is pretty darn good. I will def. be back here for my next Sunday Funday. Family Lunch Day.

Authentic Chinese tasting food. Waitress service was speedy and friendly, and dishes came out fast and hot. Sanitation and cleanliness are questionable as we observed several cockroaches crawling on wall and across floor during our meal. There is no excuse for such poor sanitation for a restaurant in this country.

I’m a fan of this authentic Cantonese restaurant. I mainly come here for their porridge and Chinese donuts. They give a really fair portion. My go to porridge has always been the pork and preserved egg. The consistency here is so good. I’m not sure what it’s called, but I’ve tried their Chinese donuts wrapped in noodles with this sweet black sauce on top and that is seriously comfort food for me. It brings me back to my childhood. The only thing that sucks about coming here is, I never get cell phone reception.

This is a solid Cantonese Styled restaurant, I’d recommend coming to and would frequent regularly if I were in the area. It’s no frills, and has solid quality food with good pricing, it’s A-OK and even I’d say above average. It’s nice to find a solid Cantonese restaurant, having been raised in San Francisco where it’s most prevalent. I tried the Won Ton, which is good. The fried bean curd /tofu appetizer cubes were great. We has the XO Ho Fun(like Chow Fun rolls) which was soft, tender, hot n’ moist. You can eat here family style for $ 10 – 15 per person easily, or come solo for a nice meal under $ 10. Parking was easy on the streets at the time we went on a Sunday evening for dinner. The tables, menu, and restaurant overall was very clean too.

I like Har Lam Kee because it is comfort chinese food. It’s all the food I used to eat at home when I was younger. Yes, they probably could use less MSG in some of their dishes, but it’s not a problem for me. I have only gotten take-out from Har Lam Kee so my review is solely for my take-out food. Speciality fried chicken wings($ 6.95): These are so delicious and addicting. There are eight wings per order and I highly recommend it. Minced Beef porridge($ 5.50): I hate plain-tasting porridge and I love that their porridge here is not flavor-less. But there is not much meat inside the soup, so paying six dollars for porridge is kind of a travesty. Fresh shrimp rice sheet roll($ 3.5): Not very good and it’s expensive. You can find better and cheaper rice sheet rolls in almost all of the Dim-sum restaurants in Monterey Park. A lot of their food items on their menu seems a little more expensive than the average going-rate in MP. They do have an inexpensive selection of lunch combo specials, so it’s definitely worth checking it out.

They must have changed management since the last time I was here. The décor is updated and nice. The food was mediocre. We had«porridge w/Lai Wan Style(A9), wonton & beef w/noodles in soup(C13), beef stew on rice(J10) and dry scallop w/egg white fried rice(F7). The porridge, fried rice and complimentary soup were pretty good but the rest weren’t. The proportion of beef stew and greens to the rice were WAYTOOLITTLE and was barely flavored. I thought the wontons were too salty but others disagreed.

Wouldn’t want to come here, again. HK style milk tea was strong, but not in a good way! All I taste is bitterness even though I added more condensed milk that I usually would. Beef brisket rice noodle was bland and beef was dry and tasted old. Trolley noodle was alright, soup was a bit oily for the level of flavor. For regular tea that waitress brings you, they add the dark milk tea tea to hot water in a glass. Bathrooms are dirty and service is slow. Overheard the next table ordered two congees, fried donut, fried donut in rice noodle, turnip cake and then the waitress came back ten minutes later to tell them they did not have congee anymore. Customer said she would have left if the waitress told them earlier, I don’t blame her… Too bad order was in already.

I had high hopes for a good meal when I went to Har Lam Kee with the family the other night. We used to go there years ago with the in laws, and the food used to be pretty good. After reading and seeing the high Unilocal reviews, I expected a good meal. Boy how things have changed. We arrived at about 6:30PM to an empty restaurant. An empty restaurant at 6:30PM should have been a sign for us to leave, but, we decided to stay and give it a try. We ordered a beef stew won ton noodles for myself, a curry fish ball and pork skin rice noodle for my wife, and a couple of meatless rice sheet rolls for the daughter. We ordered the meatless rice sheet rolls because they stop making the ones with meat sometime in the afternoon. The food came out pretty quickly. The beef stew won ton noodle soup was a tasteless bowl of noodles. Their MSG soup for the broth was lacking MSG, salt, and all other flavoring. Luckily, they had a salt shaker on the table for me to add some flavoring to the broth. The beef stew was boiled meat lacking flavor. The won tons were actually decent, but, the soup ruined it. The curry fish ball and pork skin noodle soup was just like the beef stew noodle soup, except that it came with some curry gravy. Unfortunately, once again, the MSG soup for the noodles did not have enough flavoring. The curry gravy was not enough to save the bowl of noodles for my wife, or I when she gave me some to try. The meatless rice sheet rolls. Not only do they stop cooking the rice sheet rolls with meat stuffing in the afternoon, but, they also stop making the meatless ones as well. They brought a plate of the meatless rice sheet rolls for my daughter. The rolls were most likely microwaved because it was cooked dry around the edges. It did come with some peanut sauce that my daughter likes, but, this was a poor rendition of a rice sheet roll. Daughter normally likes and finishes her rice sheet rolls. These were so bad, she did not want to finish it. Perhaps it was a bad night for the restaurant. But, it looks to me that I have not been missing out on good food or time with the in laws. Next time I see an empty restaurant at dinner time, I’m going somewhere else.

Came here for lunch with my parents and ordered food from their Lunch Special Menu. Awesome! The price is affordable and the food was decent. For Lunch Special, we also get their daily soup for free. Ordered their«beef and brocolli,» which tastes like all the other asian restaurants but their portion is a bit smaller than other lunch special places. «Salty porkchop» is always somewhat standard, not a lot of MSG powder and not too salty where you need to eat a whole bowl of rice just for one piece. Ate with my mom and dad only so we didn’t order too many dishes. I also studied the menu and notice that they do serve breakfast here. Traditional chinese breakfast with porridge, noodles, rice noodles, etc. Will definitely return back to try their breakfast. Parking is in rear– not the Lincoln Hotel parking. but you can also just find parking on the side streets, it’s easier.

It has been a long time since I tried Chinese food that every dish was that good ! My favorites are the fried chicken wings, stewed beef, and carrot cake stir fried with xo sauce. I went with a couple of my friends, and we all love it so much !!! It’s like having a Chinese New Year eve dinner :) I will definitely come back again for the amazing food and very cheap price !
