They are native Tianjin. I love the buns. It tastes like making from my grandma! Reminds me of a lot of Tianjin memories.(only hope they could have more different seasonings on the Jian Bing Guo Zi).

If there was a zero, I would have given it. I went with my coworker couple days ago at around 8am for breakfast. We were planning to order take outs. After placing our order, we sat down at the table. 25 minutes passed, we noticed few guests came after us already got their orders and left the place. I then asked the waitress how much longer we should wait. We were told«pretty soon». She then sat down and started having her own breakfast. 10 minutes passed, I stood up and I told the waitress that we didn’t want the order because the wait time was much longer than we expected. She then quickly stepped over to the kitchen and at the same time replying me loudly«it’s ready, it’s ready». Then I saw anther lady handing the waitress the packaged order from the counter next to her. Obviously, the order was ready for a long time. The waitress then screamed from the kitchen«The order’s ready, The order’s ready!». As she’s coming towards us with the orders, I was planning to explain the situation with my non-Chinese speaking co-workers so we could make a decision. I was quite sure in a situation like that, we would pay for it and leave since it’s already there. However, situation changed when all of a sudden I heard a man yelling(I am not sure if he is the owner). He yelled in Mandarin«What? What? What? What the heck is happening? If they don’t want it just cancel it». I was quite shocked by this. First of all, we patiently waited for a long time. Secondly, we politely requested to cancel the order due to the long wait. The feedback from the men was rude. He reacted as if we were the ones at fault. I didn’t want to say anything except leaving the place. However, I got fed up when the man continued saying out loud«already told you it’d be 30 minutes». I could not hold it anymore, I raised my voice and replied«Really? You’d better check with your employee. 30 minutes was not we were told before placing our orders.» After that, I asked my friends to follow me out of the door. I was glad that we were not charged in advanced so that we didn’t have go through the pain to get our money back. For that reason, one star is given to this restaurant with horrible service. What a disappointment! I would never ever go back there.

very good northern chinese joint if you’re hungry for bao, boiled dumplings, noodles, and all-day chinese breakfast(beef roll, beef pie, shredded pancake, soy milk, etc.). they even have hot pot casseroles for those cold winter months. pay no heed to the disgruntled 1-star Unilocalers. this place is legit.

It’s a cash only restaurant, and the service is too bad. Giving them $ 100 while I need to pay $ 18.4, the staff asked me if I need charge. In the end, I don’t know why they gave me $ 78 back.

cash only chinese restaurant is already a big disappointment. i went there yesterday noon, it was full. i waited for like 15 mins. finally someone left and there was an opening table. however the female boss of the restaurant let a couple just came in for like 2 mins sit at the opening seat, and she told me to wait longer for a cold small seat joint together with strangers at the door. what the fuck?!!! i left and won’t come back ever again!!! fucking bitch!!! if u allow ppl who came after me sit first and let me wait longer, what’s the fucking point of waiting in line?!!! fuck you!!! never wanna come back to this rude and no manner running away from tax bullshit chinese cash only restaurant!!! screw all these fucking chinese cash only restaurants!!!

1. Taste: very traditional and tasty 5 2. Service: it could get busy in the morning, so the service may be very slow 3 3. Hygiene: meet standard there is a clear glass blocking the kitchen so that foodies could see what is going on in their kitchen. But it is obviously not very hygiene. 3 4. Environment. When it gets busy it is very loud and messy but that is how a traditional Chinese restaurant be like 4. When u r coming make sure u go around it and park in the rare.

Tofu soup-good. Mild salty taste with a hint of sesame sauce. Tender tofu. Pancake-average. I have no idea whether this jian bing guo zi is authentic or not, but just based on its taste, the sauce is a little strong and salty. The bread stick inside the egg wrap is crispy but tasteless. Sweet bread stick-good. It is a huge Chinese donut in the shape of a square. Not too sweet. Chewy on the edges and crispy in the middle. Very filling. Tea marinated egg-good. Not too salty. Well marinated.

I’m from northern China here for spring break. I was really excited to see that there are 2 restaurants with northern Chinese breakfast. I tried the other one called Garage Restaurant, which is not on Unilocal. The food was delicious! Then I decided that I will Ty this one as well. I was somewhat disappointed with the food because of my experience in the other restaurant. The food is okay, but not as good as the food in garage restaurant. I love cold dishes, but they don’t have much variety here. Everything we orders were salty. I expect northern Chinese food to be salty but they added more salt that I expected. The food didn’t come up at the same time. I finished the food that came up first and waited for another 10mins for the rest of our orders. They forgot our cold dish. Service is below average. The waiter yelled at a couple who asked for sugar that the sugar is on the table(it’s not there!) 3 star for the food and 1 star for the service. If you came from somewhere else and crave for northern Chinese breakfast, check out(Google) Garage Restaurant.

My favorite place to have fast Chinese breakfast. My family and I drive almost 60 miles to come here every other weekends. This place is very similar to eating breakfast in Chinese, it’s very fast-paced and it gets crowded. I only know the Chinese name of the food but we always order tofu soup, jian bing guo zi(pancake), tang bing(sugared pancake), and Tian Jin bao zi(buns). All delicious and all worth trying! It’s busy on weekends but the wait usually isn’t that long. If you’re going to get there so close to noon, especially on weekend, and want to have tang bing(sugar pancake), you can call ahead and pre-order it.

Large portions, good filling, and fresh ingredients add to the great experience at this restaurant. It’s a small, family run restaurant but it doesn’t lose to any of the large 5-star restaurants. I had four types of buns and the egg soup. The egg soup was very savory and they gave a good amount of fresh, soft, eggs. As for the buns, doesn’t matter if it’s the Tianjin or the lamb meat or the veggie flavored-buns, all tasted fantastic and even better than any place I’ve eaten in China. The owners are very very nice and service was fast and friendly. I definitely recommend coming back here. 5 stars from me.

It’s not just good — it’s good enough! — — — — — — In our ongoing quest to try Chinese cuisine outside of the stronghold that is the SGV, we ended up coming here after one of my S.O.‘s friends bought a batch of steamed buns and shared with us. This is across the street from Mama’s Lu Dumpling house. Anyway, once we entered, we decided to do as the local( Unilocalers) do — check out what others ordered! We got an order of steamed buns stuffed with lamb and leeks; beef brisket noodles; as well as 3 delicacies dumplings; and pan-fried beef pie. The best dish of the afternoon was the beef pie, hands down. Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, this was stuffed with incredibly savory ground beef. The 3 delicacies dumplings were stuffed with pork, shrimp, and chives. This was extremely tasty and was perfectly paired with the Chinese-style black vinegar. The steamed buns with lamb and leeks were ok. The bun was soft and sweet(like a Chinese Man-tou). However, the filling was a bit too dry(if you can believe that). The pork version had much more juice(aka fat). I mean, hey, this is not diet food! Unfortunately, the beef brisket noodles were underwhelming. Although they spiked the broth with sesame oil, the soup base itself was somewhat bland, and the brisket was quite tough. Of course, after we placed our order, we saw three tables around us order their house special type of pancake. It looked and sounded awesome(crunchy exterior with juicy interior with its beef fillet filling); may be worth trying out next time!
