I love the Scallion pancakes and chive turnovers. My daughter and her classmates in the college loved scallion pancake, I always buy a lot of them to send her go back to her dorm.

Beware of their prepackaged items that are sold in the supermarkets. The nutritional information is totally wrong. The way that I know is that the weights of each serving don’t match up to the actual products. Chives Turnover Label Claim: Total weight 198g, Total Calories 422 Actual Weight: Total weight 220g, Total Calories 468 Green Onion Bread Label Claim: Total weight 136g, Total Calories 167 Actual Weight: Total weight 156g, Total Calories 193 Who knows if the information is even correct at all. I tried multiple items, and they were all consistently the same wrong weight. Please fix your nutrition label!

A hole in the wall. The people here are very nice and I only come here for the chive pancakes or the onion buns. It is extremely delicious. I’ve never been to another place that makes it this good. Another thing, they also do wholesale for the pancakes and buns, if you need large order. I recommend to get breakfast here than the restaurant next door.

Lynette’s review convinced me to go there. Thanks Lynette… now I like this place. The place was always close when I went there but this time I made sure it was open. It’s small and I kinda got confused with the door. The door to the store was closed and the door to the kitchen was open. I got the green onion pancakes and chive turnovers. The green onion pancake was pretty good but the chive turnover… WOW. That was my first time trying chive turnover and I was loving it. You just heat it up in the oven and it’s great for breakfast, or lunch or dinner. Very tasty with chives and rice noodle inside. I am a fan…4 stars! Total was only $ 4. I have to say Lynette is right about customer service… not too friendly. GP Bakery’s chive turnover is yummylicious!

I’ve bought GP’s scallion pancakes from other places and, like Lynette, saw the address on the package and decided to check them out. The place is a total hole-in-the-wall in a strip mall, so don’t expect to hang out and eat, but the scallion pancakes, the chive turnovers, and the onion bread are all excellent. I wanted to try the BBQ buns, but they were out. I actually ended up making a quesadilla out of a scallion pancake by folding it in half, putting some havarti inside and heating it up in a frying pan. No need to add oil for this one … The guy at the counter was really nice and very friendly. He advised me on how best the heat up the food and said I shouldn’t microwave the bread or it would be lousy, but use a toaster oven instead.

In the past, I’ve bought the green onion pancakes and chive turnovers from various markets around the area. I finally bothered to read the wrapping and found that the bakery was close to home! So now, every so often, I’ll go directly to the source and get the pancakes & turnovers piping hot. It makes such a difference getting them fresh. The chive filling is so tasty, you can’t help but eat the whole turnover in one sitting. Be sure to check your teeth after eating! If you don’t, you’ll be smiling with alot of chives stuck in between your teeth! Only complaint: The counter-people aren’t the friendiest.

3 stars. I stopped by GP Bakery quite by chance. A door was open, which allowed me to take a quick look at the bakers working on chives and glass noodle filling for the chives buns. So, I turned around and went into the bakery. Found out they«traditionally hand-make» their own green onion pancakes, green onion bread and chive buns, probably Taiwan-style. Traditional or not, the fresh chives buns are my favorite, the crust browned just right and the pungent fragrance and taste of fresh chives just oozing out and coming to life, along with the smooth texture of glass(green bean) noodles, exploding into a mouthful of flavor. The green onion pancakes are great too, sans the melodrama, about 7″ in diameter and just the right thickness. I find the green onion bread pieces a bit heavy(too much mass) for my taste, but I’m sure there are those who appreciate a filling bite. At prices of about $ 2.50, it’s not a bad deal. This isn’t one of the fancy eat-in bakeries, so you basically buy it and take it to go. I have seen these sold in supermarkets, but nothing beats buying it from the source, still warm. Curiously, it must have been a slow day on the cake line because I didn’t see any pastries or cakes in the refrigerators or counters. Zilch, nada. Verdict: Try the chives buns and the green onion pancakes.

It was magic that Frank L’s birthday was on the same day as Unilocal’s Elite Event at Damon’s. Pure magic. And I couldn’t miss the opportunity to semi-embarrass him in front of all our Unilocaler friends to celebrate the occasion. So I hit up Stephy, to check to make sure it would be groovy and she gave an enthusiastic green light. Now when it’s your best friend’s birthday, you don’t go to Costco or Vons for cake. You go to the best. I ordered a vanilla cake with strawberry filling and asked for it to be ready by 5pm. Easy. Yes! I love easy! The workers hardly speak a word of English but they’re the sweetest things! My family has been coming to this bakery for YEARS. Almost every celebration has included a delicious cake from GP. It’s always a favorite because it’s so light, the frosting is yum and the strawberries are fresh. The cake was a hit with the Unilocalers at the Elite Event and there wasn’t a slice of it left. Oh yeah and the birthday boy liked it too. =)
