Golden Bowl

Been here a few times no complaints. Went for dinner last night ordered a combo B and a war Wong ton soup. Waited about 10 minutes for the soup, don’t know if it’s made fresh to order or not but it was pretty fast. Got home with dinner and stared to dive in. My wife had the war Wong ton soup started to dig in and found a bunch of small insects in the soup and immediately stopped. I took the soup back and asked for a refund. When I left there was a couple sitting near the door and must have asked the person at the counter what happened and he was making some excuse to them so I felt I had to go back and show them what exactly I saw. I used to frequent this place and gave it another chance but would not recommend it again.

the food here is very fresh and hot when served. The items offered here are very affordable and tasty. don’t miss out on trying the wonton soup here its such a fresh and filling soup with chicken, shrimp, vegetables & of course the wontons. The broth is flavorful and well balanced in seasoning. You get a choice of 3 rice options as well (steamed white, steamed brown or fried). I’ve tried the beef & broccoli and really like the slight ginger touch on the sauce. the orange chicken is up to par and the teriyaki chicken is sliced up fresh to order and sauce is poured on if you like (sauce is not thick almost a marinate style) the staff is friendly and very helpful every time i visit. The noodles are nice and hearty with all the mixed vegetables included. I’m kind of a regular here and know of lots of other spots to have good Asian food but for my locale this is what i go to…
pros: food is very good and affordable
cons: parking sometimes can be tricky with the fitness center just next to it. there sometimes can be a line of people so waiting for you to order can take a bit.

Came here to grab dinner because I didn’t feel like cooking. Had to wait 10 minutes for the Chicken Teriyaki that night. Surprisingly, there was a line of people waiting for the chicken as well. The owner was very nice and packaged my food with care.
In terms of taste I would say the chicken was decent. The mixed veggies it came with were undercooked and needed seasoning.
I probably would come back again if I wanted a «quick» stop before going home but there are so many authentic Asian restaurants in SGV and Monterey Park that this one should not be at the top of your list.

Haven’t been here for two months. Still better than ever. The Bbq chicken/​teriyaki chicken always fire grilled. Not pan fried like other places. Orange chicken is a must. Never fail Chinese food. Best place for take-​out Chinese.

Fried rice… undercooked had blobs of rice sticking together and very hard.
Not a place to come back too! Maybe those who like this place haven’t really been to real authentic chinese restaurants found close by.

Love the healthy chicken bowl and the wonton soup. The people are great, and very clean.

Found this place when I searched «healthy» nearby. It’s tucked into a very large shopping center and is hard to see from the main road.
When you walk up it looks like a typical cheap chinese restaurant, not the good kind. Their menu is simple, sort of like panda express how you can get fried rice or chow mein wih 1 or two main dishes — all of which have been sittting in those buffet pans.
Then there’s the «Healthy» chicken option. It comes with steamed veggies, choice of white or brown rice, and chicken with or without teriyaki sauce. I opted for white with sauce. I must say I was very impressed. The food was fresh, delicious, and quite affordable.
This place could be a lot better just by improving the interior a little bit, but if you’re looking for something fairly quick (not fast food) and easy in the area then this is a very good option.

This place is fine. They run out of brown rice and I couldn’t wait 15 minutes for them to make a new batch. The chicken in the «healthy bowl» was fatty as if not trimmed properly. Nothing extraordinary and it does have a B rating for some reason.

Just came in here for the first time. Ordered the grilled chicken breast plate. Best one around here! Food was super fresh and you get a ton of it! I will definitely be back!

I wanted to kill time at the dmv so I came to eat and found a small typical Chinese place but not bad.
I enjoyed the grilled chicken. Beef & broccoli wasn’t so bad. Wish I had a little more beef but overall good. They offer brown rice for $.50 extra. Got half brown and white rice.
Overall good.

Hands down the best Chinese food spot in Montebello. The prices are good and the service is excellent.

Golden Bowl Express is conveniently nestled in the Beverly/​Wilcox Village right next to the LA Fitness. It distinguishes itself from other Chinese fast-​food in the area by preparing healthy minded selections. It’s owned and run by the Quac family (est. 2000). The recipes are the creation of Mr. Quac, the father. The son Ti manages and is often found upfront servicing the customers.
PROS:
The staff at Golden Bowl are friendly and inviting, especially Ti who makes an effort to remember the names of their regulars. The prepared food is usually fresh throughout the whole day. The menu advertises healthy Chinese food, in which they offer dishes not overly glazed with fatty oils or salty/​sugary sauces. The food is modestly seasoned, which allows you to appreciate its freshness. There are also prepare-​to-​order items such as grilled chicken breast, salmon, shrimp, halibut and specialty soups. The establishment is kept clean from trash and dirty tables. Service is provided at a reasonable speed and the prices are competitive.
CONS:
No real significant cons to mention, but there is always room for improvement. Although the establishment is mostly clean there are a few spots that could use a good dusting. There are a few damages and scuffs on the walls and booths that need repair. The ATM has been empty on occasion. It would be nice to have one or two new items available in the pre-​cooked selection.
CONCLUSION:
If you appreciate fresh tasting Chinese food, that won’t weigh you down, but still satisfy your appetite than Golden Bowl Express is for you. The feel good food, pleasant and timely service, and very reasonable prices is why I give this restaurant 5 stars.

Teriyaki chicken, veggies, and steamed rice was delicious! Price is fair and staff was friendly.

Best bang for buck, I’m here almost every day for lunch ordering a double chicken bowl with extra veggies instead of rice for just over six bucks. Much better than panda or those other fast food teriyaki spots.

They are the best!!! The wonton soup taste great. Chow-​mien and rice always taste fresh. Prices are reasonable and the food quantity is great, totally recommend :)

Best orange chicken! Will defiantly eat there again

This was my first time here. I have lived in Montebello for over a year and my boyfriend and I couldn’t find a good Chinese place but I would definitely recommend this place. Beef broccoli is the bomb, chow mein is great, and orange chicken is really good.
