Aioli, in Montebello? Food:(I’d forgotten what I had by the time I got around to actually posting this review… shame on me. And what a shame to hear that by this time the Eastside Chippery had reportedly closed. booooo!!) Fries: Thinly sliced strips of juicy potatoes Service: Melissa was great. The simple menu descriptions don’t do the actual dishes justice, but she took the time to answer every hair-splitting inquiry I had about the dishes. You could actually taste that everything was from scratch– down to the veg soup corn kernels cut from a crisp cob at peak. On overhearing my friend wishing he’d been able to try the tomato soup(we decided not to order it, on her kind note that it was going to be a lot of food and it was– we still had leftovers), but she came out with a generous sample for him. That was just beyond considerate, and apparently met his stringent french bisque standards enough that he wanted to order it next time. Chef Stan came around to ask how things were too(I think my friend’s answer was in the singular pile of polished bones on his plate). …finishing this review over a year after starting it, I only remember everything I(and everyone that came with me) ordered here to be refreshingly awesome in flavor and ingredient quality every time we came(even if it still looked like the former taco-bell building it took over– there was even a bobblehead chihuahua on one of the tables, which didn’t help), and it almost makes me think these one-star reviews are just haters trying to cut the chef down cuz they couldn’t squeeze who-knows-what they wanted outta him. They sound like jealous rival chefs from culinary school or something– geez. Anyways, if Eastside Chippery ever makes a reincarnation as another great lil gem, someone please let me know!

Went back a second time as I am a glutton for punishment(before they closed down). I made the mistake of asking to have my buns toasted while the Chef was there. Long story short,(1) I walked out and went to Polly’s and(2) these female employees either acted similar to a scared wife in an abusive relationship or a mini-me version of Chef Stan. In a way I’m glad that this place closed down because some of these girls shouldn’t have to work in fear. Eastside Chippery would have been a prime candidate for Kitchen Nightmares. I think it would have been entertaining to watch an hour of Chef Stan and Chef Ramsey go head to head, but I’m certain Chef Ramsey would have thrown his hands up in the end and walked out, just like most of us Unilocalers.

It is with great pleasure that I finally write this review. You see, my sister and my mother begged me to not write this review because they LOVE(D) Eastside Chippery. I, on the other hand, visited twice and was left with a bad taste in my mouth… both times! And seeing that many people also had the same experiences, I didn’t see how my review would change anything. Also, I hear that«Chef» Stan has quite the temper and likes to «86» people from his restaurant based on bad reviews. While I couldn’t have cared less, it was the pressure from my family that I didn’t say anything. First time I went, I looked at the menu and was thinking I wanted to try their Chile Rellenos. I was informed that they had run out already. Okay, I get it, it’s already 8:30pm, I’ll accept that. Then I ask about the Chicken Schnitzel. Yeah, they don’t have that either. So, I go with the good ol’ Chef Stan burger. It was a huge burger. Like the patty itself was huge. So huge, in fact, that I actually felt as if it was too much meat. I never say that! And I came to realize that it was because the meat lacked flavor. It almost tasted as if it was just ground beef formed into a patty and cooked. While I’m sure I was supposed to not look to the meat as the centerpiece of the meal, but rather look at its complements(ie. lettuce, tomatoes, etc.) with the meat as a whole, I think it was still lacking. Their mango iced tea was fantastic though. As was the service. The ladies he hired to cashier and serve were fantastic. I come home and began a draft of a review. Only to read the other reviews and realize that Chef Stan is not a nice person. So much so, that I decided not to write a review for fear that I would get nasty backlash from him. I don’t see how he can consider himself a professional when he goes online and starts calling people names and telling him that he doesn’t serve their kind. Does he realize that he opened up his restaurant in Montebello in what used to be a Taco Bell?! But, for reasons unbeknownst to me, I still wanted to see this place do well. Maybe it’s my rooting for the underdog that wanted me to see it do well. The more and more I heard from friends and co-workers, they didn’t like the establishment. Until a group of co-workers decided to go out to lunch and hit up this place. I hadn’t brought my lunch, so I went with them. I thought, «let’s give this place another shot.» So, we get there and there’s a huge banner outside that has a Sloppy Joe Special. My co-worker orders is and asks for cheese. She is told that she cannot get cheese because Chef Stan does not allow modifications to his menu. WTF?! So, she orders it as is. A few more people order and I think, «I’m finally going to try the chile rellenos!» Me: «I’ll have the chile relleno plate.» Cashier: «We don’t have those today.» Chef Stan(from the back): «I had them yesterday! And I’m making some for Thursday!» Cashier: «Yes, he made some yesterday but we ran out early. If you want to know when he’s making them, you should follow us on Facebook.» Me: *extremely stupefied look on face* «Uhhhh… then give me the Chicken Schnitzel.» Cashier: *uneasy look on face* «Ummmm… we don’t have that today.» Me: *starting to get pissed* «The lasagna special… is it meat or vegetable?» Cashier: «Vegetable.» Me: «Do you have that?» Cashier: «Of course.» Me: «Then I’ll have that.» How hard would it be to have a board that tells you what they are actually offering that day?! Anyhow, the veggie lasagna was good. I like spicy and hot and I found it to be quite that. I don’t know how people who don’t like spicy would have found it. Plus, I don’t take too kindly to being told to follow a restaurant on Facebook to find out what’s on the menu. I’M INYOURFREAKINGRESTAURANT! WHYDO I NEEDTOLOOKONFACEBOOK?! And I’m in your restaurant today asking for chile rellenos. Not yesterday. Not two days from now. I don’t care when else you have chile rellenos because they are not currently being made to get into my tummy! Anyhow, I passed by two days ago and noticed that all of the chairs and tables had been removed and that it was closed mid-afternoon. I called my sister and she told me that they were on vacation. Another friend, who happened to be at Polly’s followed up for me and said that they would be on vacation until the 5th. Passing by today, there is a huge SPACEFORLEASE sign. Could it be? Has Chef Stan closed down under the premise that he was going on vacation rather than admit that maybe customer service is part of repeat business? Whatever the case, I can’t wait to see what opens up there. And hopefully the new place won’t mind paying the small percentage to the credit company to allow their customers to use their plastic.

I was teetering of giving this place a one or two stars, but I’m sorry for I have to be quite frank with my review and this place needs serious help! Question 1, why is this place open 24 hrs? This place is slow at night and is raising your labor cost, duh! Question 2, why would you provide a menu that certain things on the menu are not available. Solution? No problem! Have a daily menu that changes! It would be better for business? Question 3, why would you not have a CASHONLYSIGN on the door or have it on the counter instead and of having one order and then telling them«cash only?“Question 4, why would you bread and pan fry a good piece of salmon and then hide it under a Sarah Lee«French» roll? Question 5, why would your employees not be wearing a hair net? All hair should be tucked in nicely underneath the chef hat… I can go on but I shall move along… I had the Salmon Sandwich and honestly, it needs work. I would never in my entire culinary life bread and fry a nice piece of salmon and then serve on more bread and add an overripe giant, uneven, slices of tomato and one giant piece of green leaf lettuce with ½ a tablespoon of «chipotle mayo.» That was definitely not good eats on my palate and definitely not worth what I payed for. The salmon sandwich was bland, overcooked, dry and not presentable. Pardon me, but if you are going to wear chef whites you must own it and make good food that looks and tastes great. PS– The espresso is good but the skill of making a proper cappuccino is needed. Creamy foam not bubbly foam, please… Oh, and not sure what the theme of this place is…

You know, I’m not typically one to write Unilocal reviews. Yes, my name is Phil and I’m a «Yelp Lurker». You see, I’ve got this… affliction. One in which I believe the appropriate medical term for my condition is called«laziness», which prevents me doing my share to help the Unilocal community. The extent of my Unilocal activity is searching for a new restaurant on Webcrawler(keeping it old school) and quickly scanning the reviews to see if the restaurant is right for me. And that’s it. No reviews, no ratings, nothing. You would never know I was there. I’m a ghost. But I did a search for Eastside Chippery recently and was appalled at some of the reviews this place is getting. True, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but this is getting out of hand, people! Unilocal is not a place to air out personal vendettas, but to share to others what you like and dislike about a business. But, I’ll get to that later. I’m going to pull a Tarantino here and rope you in with the climax first, and then shift back to the setup. Keep up with me here… So, obviously, I’m a big fan of Eastside Chippery(let’s just call it «EC» to save some keystrokes, shall we?) Having lived in and around Montebello for all of my(gulp!) 29 years, it’s nice to see something different. To all of those who miss the old Taco Bell, throw a rock and I’m sure you’ll hit a place where you can buy tacos in Montebello. Their menu offers the standard American cuisine, but you can count on EC adding their own unique twist to everything. I like the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food is excellent! Sure, it probably doesn’t beat Mastro’s or Cut, but when I judge quality in a restaurant, I base my rating on similar restaurants within its price range, and EC, with their generous prices, are serving excellent food! I think some people may be forgetting that. Their portions are *HUGE*, their dishes are flavorful, and you could tell they put a lot of effort into presentation. Some of my favorite dishes include the salmon in lemon caper sauce, the pulled chicken sandwich, the beef rib, and the tortilla soup. My «real» rating for EC is 4.5 stars, even though I had to round up to 5 stars. I believe they are great, but have some room for improvement, which is understandable for a place that is still moderately new. The only real danger in having a favorite dish at EC is that sometimes you walk in with your heart set on something specific, only to find out that they sold out of that dish earlier in the day. But I believe they just recently remedied this by only opening up their full menu for dinner. Also, if you’re in a hurry, you might want to stick with the soups or simply call ahead with your order. It’s not a fast food joint, so it takes time to prepare everything just right. So now is the part of the review where we circle back to the beginning… It’s strange to me that some people would be so upset with being banned from a place they didn’t even like in the first place! And to take the time in their day to walk to their computer, press the power button, turn their monitor on, take a sip from their coffee, click on their internet browser, search for«Eastside Chippery Unilocal» in their browser(unless they have, as I suspect, this already as their home page), type up a bunch of childish name-calling, re-read their review to catch any potential spelling and grammatical errors, occasionally«air high-five» himself and laugh out loud at what he believes to be razor-sharp wit and cleverness, and then, finally, with a proud smug on his face, click on that«Submit» button. I don’t know, to me that just seems insane! If I was banned from a restaurant(even if I liked it!), I would just move on and start eating somewhere else. Life goes on, you know? But then again, I have a life, so maybe I simply can’t fathom what it’s like to be so passionate about something as trivial as this. I hope I accomplished two things with this review. I hope I gave an honest, insightful review for people that may be skeptical about trying out EC because of a few bad eggs. And I hope I can, in some miniature way, show said bad eggs that it’s getting a little pathetic now. I’m not sure how much longer you plan on keeping this up, but with every new posting you submit, you just look sadder and sadder to the rest of the world. Kind of like the guy who begs his ex-girlfriend months and months after she broke up with him to take him back. Get over it. If you saw the same thing on another page, with someone posting fake negative reviews MONTHS after their last visit, what would you think about that person? I hope, for your sake, you can see what it looks like from this angle.

I wasn’t expecting much from this establishment. It was changed from a Taco Bell to another taco joint(i forget the name) to now this a «chippery»(hardly). But I reallllly wanted it to be good… The promise came in the waitstaff… very nice and excited to welcome their patrons in. She explained how everything is freshly made. The soups are made from scratch and everything is cooked to order. I was really excited to try my food… until I took my first bite. I ordered the garlic chicken and well. the easiest thing to get right in cooking is… to season your food properly and the Eastside Chippery boasts«chefs» or a chef, whatever, behind the counter but this was no plate to suit a chef let alone a line cook. Well, forget about flavor, how about cooking food properly and evenly… chef. My chicken was burned on the outside and almost completely raw inside. It was covered in garlic… which I love garlic but you just can’t compensate with garlic when it’s plain terrible to start with. It came with rice which was forgetful and asparagus… and yah… chef messed asparagus up too. Asparagus. I ended up taking my chicken home, seasoned it up, finished cooking it… annnnnnd that’s what I should have received in the first place. My friend went with the fish and chips… oy vay. I may not be a fish and chips connoisseur but I’ve been to London… soggy or not, don’t school people on how fish and chips is «suppose» to be… when ya can’t even season your food. I really want to give this star to the wonderful employee who took our order and was nice and attentive… Thanks

Boy, this Cook Stan, can’t seem to stop writing me. here’s another response he had for me. tsk, tsk. me thinks he’s getting all worked up here see what he wrote below. «Bev, I don’t believe I was at the restaurant when you had what sounds like an imaginary experience. But had I been we probably wouldn’t have served you at all, I’m not interested in cooking for people like you. It’s amazing how arrogant you are! And it’s sad that we live in a culture that panders to people like you. As for your other disrespectful assertions, feel free to google search me, I think that you’ll find that I am more than happy to tell people what I think of them to their face. And please feel free to post this. Stan Lerner’ I wish I was arrogant. but alas, I’m just like the next person who pays for their food. just want good service with my meal. Instead, as a friend puts it, «NOSOUPFORYOU!!» =P

After a few more stops, I’ve come to realize that the allure of the first visit has faded… The food is good, just not great, when comparing price and its surrounding area. The cash only deal is another sore point, having made far too many trips to the liquor store(and get dinged by the bank fee). All in all, it’s just not worth all the extra effort. Given that and the hardcore policy on no changes /substitutions and it’s pretty much a bypass for me. In the end, if you’ve got some cash, time to spare, and in the area, it may be worth the trip…

I will start with the pros: The Service was very good, friendly and clean. The food looks great, it is presented well. I would give’em a better rating, however… Cons: I ordered the«meatloaf» and the«fish&chips». The meatloaf was served with lots of oil and the vegetables were soaked in it. The mash potatoes did not look appetizing. The meatloaf is frosted with«Ketchup»?! I only put ketchup on things which are lacking in taste. I guess the cook knows best. Needless to say the food lacks taste. Chef Stan needs to change his name to cook Stan.

Amazing find in an unassuming area. I’m not sure why the owner chose this location, but I really don’t care; it works out great for me. The food is ample in portion and delicious in taste. There’s this funny gal a the register with a diamond on her tooth(not sure if its real), she’s about as spunky as they come. My recos: You MUST try the burger and the hot dog. Don’t get ambitious and try to attempt both in one sitting. I have yet to get a slice of the amazing looking cheesecake. I also was fortunate enough to try their chili – a must have.

For those indigenous to Montebello, we have cried to the heavens, «My God my God, why has thou forsaken us(of good restaurants to eat).» Well folks, our life long prayer has been ANSWERED! The«answer» is in form The Eastside Chippery! It is the treasure trove that contains the *manna* we have been praying for in this once desolate land! *manna *(1. miraculous food supplied to the Israelites(in this case, Montebellans) in the wilderness. 2 divine or spiritual food(they even have kosher food folks, and to a non-Jew, kosher=spiritual…)). I stumbled onto the«Chip» after a long 12 hour day at work late one night. I was excited to see an «open 24 hours» sign, which meant that this could possibly be a viable alternative to Ordonez or J & S. When I entered the restaurant, pleasant girl at the counter, asked me: «Hi, can I recommend you something.» «Yes», I said, «Please give me your best greasy burrito please.» :) «We don’t have burritos», she said. :O «Wait, what kinda food do you have here!, Isn’t this a Mexican Restaurant?»(BTW, if you lived in Montebello, you know that the only alternative to Mexican food is a sandwich shops, or Chinese fast food, and this was NOT Chinese!) «We are like a café, why don’t you try our chili.»(her recommendation was pretty much on point as I was looking for something salty, spicy and bean(y). «Is it greasy???» «No, but I think you will like it.» :/«Hmm…Weeellll, okay, I’ll take the chili.» :/ When the Chili was served it came in a huge bowl, decorated in white loops that you might see on hostess cakes, but in this case, was made of sour cream. It also had a half an avocado fanned out over the top and came with a large portion of bread. The presentation actually looked, dare I say… Upscale! This was NOT like the expected orange greasy chili from«The Original Tommy’s»(that succeeds not only in filling me up, but also in giving me skunk like super powers). Though quite different I soon began to appreciate the complex combination of ingredients for what it was. It was spicy, had many textures, and was super filling(even though it was not greasy). I boxed up about 40%! I thought to myself, «Well, Marshall, I didn’t get what I hand in mind, but hey the food is still pretty decent.» Then when I got home, 1 minute later, I went straight to my kitchen, pulled out a spoon, and ate the rest!(Mind you I was already full when I left the restaurant). Whatever I end up getting at the Chip, my perception follows the same routine. The food comes out way different than I expected, and with the first couple of bites, I am taken back slightly because I am trying to comprehend all the flavors. But then I keep taking another bite, and another… until its all gone and I realize, wowzers, I really do not know what I ate, EXCEPT, daYummmm I know that it tastes good! So far I tried the steak and pulled chicken sandwich, matzo ball soup, or peasant stew, and deep fried hotdog. … Alright, because of all this typing and thinking, I had to take an 30 minute break and drive three blocks to eat at the Chip again. This time I tried their super smoothie. After taking three bites… and suffering from a five second«seizure» …I drooled on my shirt… and decided to even buy one for my roommate!(Anyone would be susceptible to this due to the creamy avocados, chewy raisins, tiny bits of crunchy walnuts, sweet honey, succulent array of berries, healthy young coconut, and approximately 10 other ingredients, I mean, who could not) When I gave it to him, I told him «Sung, I got this for you, this is the best 6 dollar smoothie you will ever have.» «Six Dollars, too expensive… I just had a protein shake.» «Sung, I bought it for YOU! EAT!» …And he ate, and ate, and he finished it… and he said«Why didn’t you tell be about this restaurant before?» I was like…“CUZ I JUSTFOUNDOUT A FEWWEEKSAGO!!!“ I can go on and on writing about this place… Let me just say, I can easily go here 3 – 4 days a week, because the food is reasonably priced, there is an vast assortment of things to eat(over 50 items!), the food is quite unique, and it is open 24 hours. Thank you Chip! Other cool things to Note: The people cooking are REAL Chefs They have free WiFi They have great Espresso(well I actually do not know this, but their espresso machine is gargantuan, which automatically means that its good). Many dishes are so big, you can share them. Foods almost always comes with sides, but the sides may vary depending on what the restaurant has. The burgers are 1 pound and can be served rare(which means they are real steak) The fish and chips are made of tilapia If you every have problem choosing from the 50+ things to order, just ask the workers, they can give you a good recommendation. Caveats: They do not take credit cards. This is not a fast food joint, so don’t go if you are short on time.

First things first: [1] chippery is not a word(the chef made it up) and [2] take cash — apparently, this establishment does not believe in electronic transactions. Ok, now let’s move on. For my first time here, I found it delectable. The pulled chicken(yes, chicken!) sandwich was good — very good. A little sloppy with the special coleslaw they put on, but the good sloppy — obviously, this is not a cookie cutter restaurant. I want to go back, as I am rooting for this establishment to do well. The staff was nice — I cant remember her name but she helped me decide what to order and even brought me a free sample of their four-alarm chili(even though it was vegetarian, it was still good) I will visit again soon — just not too soon, as some of the prices, I felt, were a little steep. Should you try it? Absolutely. The Eastside Chippery may very well be the diamond in the rough of Montebello eateries. PS: I did not try the chicken tortilla soup, but the lady near me could not stop ranting and raving about it… just sayin’.

I can’t shut up about all the flavors! We had heard great things about this place, so the Mr. and I decided to hit it up on a whim New Years Eve day. ;) The place was very clean and simple, there was no grime to be found, and best of all, the staff was friendly, including Chef Stan. For working with what he’s got, Chef Stan made this old Taco Bell very welcoming and warm. The only bummer is that this place is cash only; but there’s a Chase a little further down Beverly, just a couple of blocks. They also have wi-fi. The food: we both had the Tilapia Fish and Chips. I am not a fan of Tilapia, but I have to say, this is the tastiest I’ve ever had it. Really, it was super good. The breading I wasn’t too crazy about(i’d prefer it a little crispier,) but the fish was moist and flavorful. It also came with a side of fries and chips(LOVEDTHECHIPS) and the best tartare sauce I’ve EVER had. Mr. George was still hungry, so we shared a bowl of matzoh ball soup. Heavenly and rich! Everything tastes so much better when it’s made from scratch! Coffee was good, and they were generous with the soda refills. They also brought us a bit of the vegan four alarm chili to try. I’m not a big fan of vegan food, but this was great too. Hot, and again, bursting with flavors. The veggie choices in this chili were excellent. A little sweet, but punch me in the mouth hot. Will be back. Looking forward to trying other things on the menu.

Good food and very friendly service. This place used to be a taco bell but they’ve done an OK job of making it look more upscale(i.e. lipstick on a pig). My sandwich contained garlic mashed potatoes in it so it’s a place that tries to take the ordinary and kick it up a notch. However, the attempt at gourmet also results in a higher-priced, fast food menu.

Update: I’ve been 86ed from Eastside Chippery. Due to, what Chef Stan refers to as bashing, his restaurant. Mind you, I wrote that review(which I stick to) after my first visit. I’ve been back two times since and not until last night, after coming in, ordering four menu items, paying for them and being there for a half hour was I even told that I’m no longer allowed back. First, let’s review(for the last time) what I ate… Blueberry muffin– These are made in house daily. It looked great, had a surprising amount of blueberries throughout but it lacked the sweetness I expect from a pastry staple. Coffee– The coffee is lovely. Bold, always fresh and refills are free! This completely positive point makes the fact that they chose to take their cafè idea into a full blown restaurant all the more regrettable. Raspberry Brownie– They get major points for offering such a risky, decadent dessert and pulling it off! It was huge for the price(1.95) and the presentation deserves an 8 out of 10. My only complaint is it was slightly more cake like than brownie like. As for Chef Stan. He was there every time we came in yet failed to greet us. Though he claims to be all about«community» and getting to know his customers. The first and only encounter we had was when I confronted him last night. To start, he refused to talk to me directly. As I was leaving, he happened to come outside and I confronted him. To make a long story short, he swayed between a typical, arrogant Chef stereotype and a thin-skinned amateur. We both stood our ground– I’m no longer allowed back and I got to say my peace. In the end, I’m still pulling for Eastside Chippery. To all my fellow Unilocalers… I will continue to write the truth, no matter the consequence. WRITEON!!!

I heard about this late night spot open 24 hours in my old stomping grounds from a few friends. Growing up in this city there isn’t many choices for late night owls such as myself. Your choices are limited to greasy Mexican or greasy Denny’s. I decided to try this place out and felt that for the area, hours and friendliness of the staff this place exceeded my expectations. As for quality of food, pricing and décor this place it fell short. If you drove by this place you could miss it, it doesn’t stand out at all. The inside looks like the Taco Bell that used to be here, but with fancy wobbly tables. The place sounds impressive on paper, but when you try it out it’s really hit or miss. The prices for certain items are a bit on the pricey side, what you would expect for fine dining but not in a place like this. Other food options are a great deal, such as the desserts and coffees. The availability of the menu is limited once the kitchen closes at 9pm, but the limited late night menu is somewhat decent. I found the sandwiches to be great, but the soup was greasy and flavorless. I ordered the split pea, and found it to be bland and loaded with bay leaves. A order of soup is around 5 dollars, but the bowl is huge! The portion was enough for 2 or 3 people to share. Another downside is the place is cash only. Make sure you stop at the ATM before arriving, or you find yourself tempted to leave if you don’t carry cash. They don’t even have a ATM machine here like most cash only places do. The great upside is the staff is very friendly, and eager to please. In fact they seem like fresh graduates of culinary school, a bit inexperienced but still a pleasure. A few of them came by to meet and greet us table side, a very nice touch. Your drinks never reach bottom here, they are great on asking if you would like a refill. Although my late night review doesn’t seem that great, this place has lots of potential to become one of the great spots in this city. I will come back just because of the friendly staff, eager to try new menu favorites and definitely with cash in my pocket.

This is a great little place in Montebello that doesn’t look like much from the outside but has great food and wonderful service. Their vegetable soup is delicious and homemade. Their lunch deals are affordable and very satisfying(and large in size). The people who work there, including the chef, are super nice. I will be back to try other items of the menu. I do hope that they start accepting credit cards soon.

Another gem tucked away on the Eastside. Chef Stan and everyone there make this place happen. They are very friendly and very accommodating to requests. The tacos are delicious especially the fish. The London broil was awesome. The soup is amazing. Oh be careful if you order the Super Nachos because they are huge! Good but huge. Can share this with a group of 5 at least. And if you aren’t an onion fan make sure you say no onions because they load ‘em on here. The ice cream sandwich is between two brownies and had mint and chip ice cream the last time we tried it. Delicious! I have yet to try the Stan Burger surprisingly but I know its amazing. I’ve seen it. Kosher beef with onions cooked inside the meet! Oh no cheese on this baby, remember, its kosher :) They finally got an espresso bar and they make really good espresso drinks. The Cuban Coffee is yum! Raw sugar on top of the espresso and then pulled into your cup. Sweet, savory, yummy espresso. There open till 11pm so a good late night eatery. Go if you haven’t!

Chef Stan and his team make eastside dining culinary. I’ve ordered so many different entrees, and they are all delsih. My favs so far are the london broil taco, energy smoothie, chili stuffed chile relleno and Stan burger. There are so many pros to this place: 1. It is open late night and in the same strip as a liquor store. Holla. 2. The Stan burger uses kosher beef. Yum. 3. Really good espresso. I’m serious. I’m sick of driving to Silverlake for coffee. Enough is enough.(And free wi-fi) 4. A diverse menu that includes: soups, sandwiches, desserts, and Mexican and American food.

From the moment I walked in, I already felt like I was family. Everyone here greeted you warmly and made you feel at home. I use to visit this place when it was a Taco Bell so I knew the area quite well. I ordered the burger here. Since it was my first time, I wanted to play in safe. When this MONSTER of a burger came out, I was already up to the challenge. I had my burger prepared medium well. It was literally dripping with flavor. After about .054 seconds, Slim –1, Burger –0. I will definitely be back and try something else. Welcome to the neighborhood Eastside Chippery!
