I’ve been really torn on how to write this review and have been holding off for a while, but last night’s order helped me make my final decision. –I’ve ordered from them 4 times — delivery only. 1st order:(slightly disappointed by the pie) –Veggie Lovers pizza(white pizza w/broccoli, black olives, spinach, mushrooms, peppers & onions.) sounded bangin’ to me. but upon eating it, it was really just okay. strangely lacked flavor. –side of meatballs. BANGIN! –crème brule cheese cake(i assume this was store bought or whatever, but it was bangin’ too.) 2nd order:(aww shht! maybe it was just a bad day last time?) –Margarita pizza. BANGIN! –side of meatballs. again, BANGIN! –penne vodka w/chicken. biggidy-BANGIN! the sun-dried tomatoes really set this dish off. (this order raised my spirits from the previous bland pizza order.) 3rd order:(wait, what happened?) –penne vodka w/chicken. eh, this was nowhere near as good as the first time i ordered it. it lacked flavor as well as the delicious sun-dried tomatoes. what happened? –side of meatballs. okay, this they obviously ALWAYS get right. –beef patties w/cheese. eh, the same quality as what i get at Pathmark sans cheese, but even w/cheese it was nothing exciting. 4th order:(okay, seriously, what the what??) –5 cheese pizza(provolone, cheddar, ricotta, american(seriously?), mozzarella.) okay, so i open the box and look at this pie… wait, are those orange squares? like barely melted cheese slices? wtf? but i give it a chance and go at a slice — nah son, what is this? it’s the worst cheese pizza ever, that’s what it is. i tried a cold slice the following day hoping for some kind of saving grace. nope. they apparently slathered the dough with ricotta, then used some white cheese and tossed some(hopefully not kraft singles) cheese squares on for the grand finale. seriously? who does that? it didn’t taste well blended at all, cheeses not complimenting each other, tasted like cheap arse cheese. i could get past the odd site of(maybe velveeta?) cheese squares if it at least tasted good, but my cat Nine even turned his nose up at it. if you know like i know, that definitely isn’t a good sign. –meatballs. still bangin, I’m sure, but i put them in the fridge for another day because I was so disappointed. –garden salad w/raspberry vinaigrette. brought it to work for lunch today. pretty good. That 5 cheese pie was kinda the last straw for Southend’s hit or miss status. I’m gonna find a new spot to order from. Great meatballs just isn’t enough, and I’m afraid if I order the margarita pie again(isn’t it «margherita»? i think it’s spelled wrong on the menu,) it will leave me disappointed like the penne. I’ve learned not to hold on and rather get out while the gettin’s good, nahmean?
