Had a great Friday Night Lobster Special, and was better than the two«Famous» Pancake Restaurants hands down. It is now gone, and becoming a foo foo Natural Food Restaurant for the East Hampton Crowd. How said.

Typical diner type café with pretty fast service initially until our waiter left for his second job and deserted us for at least 30 minutes till the manager came by to apologize. We sat in the back on some pretty crappy tables, kinda like being in your city cousins tiny backyard with no ambiance. Now that I’ve berated them fully, onto the good stuff. The food! I had some Surfers Sandwich, a huge turkey sandwich with an avocado aioli on a multigrain roll that was just delicious! Wound up taking half of it home. Another friend had a veggie wrap she devoured, while another had a lobster roll she was totally pleased with… other than that, we couldn’t order anything else because they forgot about us. Regardless, MTK is a casual little dive good for a quick breakfast or lunch, but it is pricey! I think my sandwich was $ 16! But i guess a touristy stop has its drawbacks. And I’m sure the service lapse was just a one off for this popular place.

MTK has been around for quite a while. They have a great menu that includes an abundance of breakfast combos, Buffalo wild wings, sandwiches, gyro, burgers etc… They are only open for breakfast and lunch so those are their specialties. I’d definitely say they’re a somewhat average diner but as with most diners – they’re good at what they do and the prices aren’t all that bad either! Definitely a relaxed spot to go and get breakfast or lunch in between stopping in all the shops on Main street!

Overpriced and my chicken, fresh mozzarella sandwich was tasteless on soggy garlic kind of bread. $ 9.50 for a kids meal mozzarella sticks? Really? Talk about tourist trap. Maybe good for breakfast but not lunch or dinner.

Plain food. Kind of a ripoff environment. The waitress did not tell us that tip was included. We had to ask several times.

A typical truckstop-style«greasy spoon»: A+. The service is so fast you’ll think they read your mind. Get a table in the backyard – sunny, warm, inviting, and always a nice ocean breeze. Friendly service, great food, and most importantly: good coffee; A hangovers wet dream.

We had planned on a road trip Sunday. What we hadn’t planned was where we would eat. After trying two other local businesses that had not yet opened for the season, a local gave us directions to MTK. Located right on Main St. just east of the circle, it was an easy find. Once inside we were given a booth along the back wall of the front dining room. Service was quick and although only a few of the items were unavailable, we finally settled on three items: New England clam chowder, Fish Tacos, and Calamari with marinara sauce. First, I have come to expect great chowder everywhere on the island, every where I have it, it’s delicious. This, however, gets the blue ribbon for the single best clam chowder I have ever had — I mean ever. Stuffed with meat, creamy– but not overly so, and an otherwise great texture. It was hot and rich. Wow! I’m not always moved– but I was moved. The fish tacos were really good as well– thick pieces of meat and with a light sauce that made them hit the spot. We’d asked for cole slaw but got fries so we can’t comment on the slaw but the tacos were truly delicious. Calamari is another food that I will try wherever I go and this one was respectable– not great by any stretch– but it was solid. The marinara proved to be the winner on this plate– we actually asked for more sauce for the last few pieces of squid. Yes, that good a seafood marinara. The atmosphere was what you would expect for a beach town– not fancy. The hard back booths are what you would expect in any resort town. A few pictures scattered the walls but they made no airs of pretense here. This is where the locals come to eat– the emphasis is on the food. There were two large groups of tourists in the same dining room and although we could hear them at times, it wasn’t overly noisy. Two waitresses addressed all our needs– from the water refill to «can I get you another tea or beer?». They were both very attentive and we couldn’t ask for more. Overall, if you want to eat with the locals, eat here– you’ll be glad you did. We sure were glad to run into that local.

The outdoor area in the back is fantastic, the $ 20 for my lobster roll was not. Now knowing what not to order, I’d check it out again next time I’m in Montauk. The rest of the food looks pretty good!

This was the first eating establishment I experienced in Montauk, & it’s safe to say it set things off right. It doesn’t look like much — it definitely gives off some serious dive diner vibe — but it’s good stuff.(Except the coffee, the coffee is not good stuff.) The dude & I sat outside for a really, really late breakfast, post-Memorial Day weekend & mid-week. He knows one of the servers here, who did more than take care of us. Attentive, super friendly, & more than happy to turn our basic orange juices into delicious mimosas once we realized we could order them. I ordered the yogurt, granola, & strawberries, with some fresh fruit as a side. The fruit in both the yogurt & the side was super fresh! Definitely not typical of a diner-like restaurant, & definitely something I’d eat every day. The dude had eggs over medium & the typical accompaniments(bacon, homefries, toast), & was satisfied with his meal, as well. The bill was pretty outrageous($ 50+) for breakfast, even taking into consideration the mimosas.

On our first morning in Montauk, we found a couple breakfast options a few miles away in Montauk. The town was sleepy and wet as we entered the small downtown. Our first two options unfortunately were«Closed For The Season,» since we were there in April. But our last option, The MTK Café, was luckily open year-round. Being one of the only breakfast places open in Montauk, it was pretty packed. We were directed to a booth in the back and began to survey the menu. There were a bunch of good options, but the Pigs-In-A-Blanket called my name. I honestly can’t remember the last time I had breakfast sausages wrapped in pancakes, but as soon as I saw them their brilliance came flooding back. Jac went with a Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict and, eying their bar in the back, a Bloody Mary to split. Soon, the food emerged from the small kitchen. To my delight, my blanketed sausages came with a side of sausage gravy. While simple, they satisfied my hunger immediately(their carb-loaded, fatty goodness probably went right to my spare tire, but no matter, they were sooo good). Jac’s Benedict was also tasty, but unfortunately the bloody mary failed. Watery with cheap vodka, it just wasn’t what we expected. But two out of three isn’t bad and we left MTK’s café fed and just a bit more relaxed from cheap vodka.

Came here on Columbus day weekend and it was dead inside but still had to wait 10 minutes to be greeted and given menus. The waitress took our drink order and came back after 30 seconds to ask if we knew what we wanted. Having only looked at the menu for less than a minute we felt a little rushed. We both ordered burgers and I kid you not, they came out in 3 minutes. I was impressed at first but it then turned to disappointment as I quickly realized that I was eating a $ 15 burger that was made from a frozen patty which was far from the medium rare I had requested. The fries were actually good, so there was at least one positive thing. There are so many places in Montauk to eat, my advice is to skip this one.

MSTK3000 is a classic cult American TV series about being forced to watch bad movies. Drop the numbers and the S, add the word ‘café’ and you get MTK Café, a place where I wouldn’t mind be forced to eat lobster. When scoping out a new town on the ground, it’s always challenging trying to identify just exactly where to eat. Of course, the Unilocal app comes in handy but sometimes cell phone reception doesn’t cooperate so it’s back to a pre-wireless age of instinct, hope and flat out luck. Along the main stretch of Montauk’s walkable inner core, you’ll find MTK Café. I’d liken it more to a diner but the owners can all it whatever they like. Casual is the rule of the day here. Booths and a back room offering up ping-pong and a dart board round up the interior. The actual menu for dinner seemed a bit on the light side, not as in lighter fare but as in limited offerings. What redeemed the evening, Saturday as it was, was the availability of the Lobster Fest Friday… one night later! For $ 25, I was given a plate of 1 ¼lb lobster, corn on the cob, mussels and coleslaw. You are also given a choice between soup and a salad. Let’s get down to the juicy bits as the soup/salad wasn’t memorable at all. Lobster! We were bibbed by our friendly waitress who also had a great tip about Shadmoor State Park.(See other review). Out came the platter and I beheld the latest creature to sacrifice their life for my culinary enjoyment. With melted butter at hand along with an arsenal of cracking tools, I relished every bite of this steamed crustacean. The mussels were surprisingly good too and a bit easier to eat than having to wield a weapon to the outer armor of a lobster. I’ve had tastier corn from a roadside stand so this cob was just average. Contributing to the maritime environment were a group of locals in a nearby booth who literally… cursed like sailors. I think they were fishermen or sailors or both and if so, hearing the truism come to life before my ears was surreal. MTK Café is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. As noted earlier, the lobster fest friday was the most appealing item on a menu that otherwise resembled a diner’s.

I was in Montauk for about 10 days, and I feel like I ate just about everywhere. MTK Café was among the last few places I tried, and I wasn’t overly impressed. I got really stoked by the outside menu, boasting a famous hot lobster roll, so I was disappointed when the roll was… well, warm at best. It did have a lot of lobster on it, but it was soaked in butter and left me feeling a bit weighted down. The waiter tried hard to bullshit with us, but he was forgetting orders left and right, bringing out cold food, etc. One of my friends got the Hampton Burger, which is like, the largest thing in the world, see photo, and he ate every last bite. I guess the two experiences balanced out… If ever again I’m in Montauk, I don’t know that I’ll rush back. I would much rather fork over thirty some odd dollars for the whole 1.5 pound lobster with corn and a baked potato from Duryea’s.

Stopped by on the way to the lighthouse and decided to get the lobster roll. It was delicious as expected, nothing too out of the ordinary but very fresh and flavorful. Definitely a nice place to stop for some casual food.

On Fridays, MTK Café has LOBSTERFEST! For $ 25 you get chowder or salad, steamed lobster, mussels, corn on the cob, and coleslaw. Just look at this deliciousness: The seafood tasted like it was caught just that morning. Plump, juicy lobster meat dipped in melted butter… so savory and luscious. My mom proclaimed it to be the best lobster she’s ever had. My parents each got a lobster fest platter(which I also partook of), but I ordered the HOTLOBSTERROLL(¼lb of pure lobster meat poached in creamy butter, served on a toasted bun, with salad and fries). There’s so much perfectly poached lobster goodness in MTK’s lobster roll, so much better than any lobster roll I’ve had in NYC. I highly recommend it on any day other than Friday; the Lobster Fest is where it’s at on Fridays. When you visit Montauk, you have to go to MTK Café for lobster at least once!

The entire weekend I stayed in Montauk with my family, the only thing I wanted was a lobster roll. I was majorly bummed that I missed out on MTK’s Lobsterfest, but I decided I NEEDED to have my lobster roll at 10AM on a Sunday. The really nice waiter recommended that I get it warm with butter, because it tastes SO much better, so Mama Bear and I order one apiece. I kid you not, it was the best lobster roll I ever had. It was buttered enough, but it wasn’t an insane drippy mess, and the salad it came with made me feel a little bit healthier for noshing down on it in the span of a minute. Well, before I ate the epic pile of fries it came with. Whatever, I can live with a temporary food baby.

We stopped in for breakfast on a windy, rainy day and with the exception of the wait staff, we were the only ones in the joint. We were seated immediately by the friendly waitress and found our seat in a comfy booth. After a quick review of the menu, we placed our order for French Toast, Primavera Egg Scramble, a side of bacon and two OJ’s. The scramble had onions, mushroom, tomato, spinach and cheese. We were amazed when our meals arrived just 5 minutes later. Perfect because we were hungry. I ordered the French Toast which came with Strawberries and whipped cream but I asked for it on the side. The sides were plentiful and I barely put a dent in them. The french toast was scrumptious and flavorful. Very light and fluffy, just how I like em’. My husband loved his primavera scramble but I thought there was a bit too much onion in it. This was obvious even 5 hours later when I went to give my hubs a smooch. Yuck! I would highly recommend coming in here for breakfast. We were very pleased with our orders and even more pleased that it was inexpensive — $ 24.80. Pretty darn good for the Hamptons, ehh?!

If you are in the area, I highly recommend stopping by. Great vibe and friendly service. We sat outside and enjoyed watching all the beachy laid back locals walk around w/their kai kai sandals. It was a Friday, so there was a LOBSTERFEST special! ¼ lb of fresh juicy lobster, mussels, fresh corn on the cob, coleslaw… All for 21 buckarooos! 20 minutes later… The waitress came by and said«wow… you did a good job on your plate». Every mussel stripped. Corn was demolished. Lobster… only fragments of red shell left. Green stuff was eaten… I saw dirty looks from onlookers as I ate the«green stuff» out of the lobsters head. What can I say? I have no shame.

After a lovely afternoon of chillin on the beach, my friend and I decided to stop here for a late lunch. It’s a cute place right on the main street and there’s outdoor seating, which was perfect since it was a beautiful day. It wasn’t very crowded so were got seated and served right away. I ordered the crabcake sandwich with fries and my friend ordered the lobster roll with corn on the cob. The crabcake was good, but I should’ve just ordered the crabcake — not the sandwich, I felt like the bread, lettuce and tomatoes took away from the crabcake flavor. My friend’s lobster roll was delicious. Yum! I give this place only three stars since I felt the portions were a bit small. However, I’d come back here if I’m in town again.
