We like the food, but the service deserves 1 star. We found ourselves at Jim’s last night grabbing some Valentine’s Day fried zucchini and some other stuff. We had $ 20 in cash, so asked to pay the rest($ 3) on my card. The guy took the cash then charged my card. This morning we notice that $ 23 had been charged to my card. What?!? So we go in this morning and explain the situation. They took $ 20 in cash and overcharged me. Well, apparently they don’t care about repeat customers because I was told that there was nothing they could do about it. So, you don’t reconcile your registers at night? You didn’t see that you were over by $ 20? Oh, and it’s my fault, you say? Because I shouldn’t expect that you’re doing your job correctly. There was no «So sorry that happened, let’s see what we can do.» All we were told was«There’s nothing that we can do about it. You should have checked before you left last night.» Right. If they were even a little more willing to help or even a little nicer about it instead of being a smartass, maybe they would have kept us as customers. But no, done.

i got the turkey burger and zucchini fries. i’ve drove by this place for years and finally stopped in during MLK day. they seemed busy during lunch time, and they have a random arcade game in the back of the restaurant… lol anyways, the turkey burger was dry and lacking flavor. i had to add a ton of ketchup to make up for it. as for the fries, they were decent. i guess the best thing about this place is the order of fries come in a huge sack. i feel like its an entrée by itself. oh, if you enjoy extremely salty food, try the pickled carrots and peppers. i had one carrot, and it felt like i was drinking ocean water. it was too salty for me. i don’t know if i’ll be back?

I love Jim’s. I’ve been coming here since 1996! The taste has changed some, but it is still good. I compare every burger joint to this and nothing else compares. Bacon cheeseburger with fries(add extra seasoning salt) and a cherry Coke :) The soft serve is also good, but melts quickly. It’s definitely comfort food for me! It reminds me of my childhood. The staff is amazing and friendly! Always welcoming you at the counter with a smile and genuine conversation.

I can’t believe I have lived within 10 minutes of this place for most of my life and yet I never came here until last year. Most of my friends from high school frequented this place during high school, but I guess I always just ate food from home. Located in a large plaza on Duarte, Jim’s has plenty of parking and is very easy to find. There was a small line when I went but it moved very quickly; most of my time spent there was waiting for my to-go order to come out. The place looks old but it is clean and they have a decent amount of indoor seating. My friends got the classic ¼ lb Hamburger, but I love cheese so I opted for their Cheeseburger. Their burgers are simple but pretty good. The star here, however, is their Homemade Fried Zucchini. We got the small but they give a lot, so that was the perfect size for the three of us to share. It is prepared fresh and the zucchini is so good with that breading! Definitely a must-get item when you come here. I will definitely be back just for that fried zucchini… and next time I might not share ;) 3.5 stars rounded up to a 4 since this place is a neighbourhood classic.

I found this place using Unilocal.I was skeptical the first time that I came here because I always get my burgers from in n out but after trying the avocado cheeseburger, I can’t see myself eating in n out if Jim’s burger is available. The second time that I was here for the avocado cheeseburger, I accidently dropped the tray and my burger while trying to get some banana peppers. The guy in gray hair that works there was super nice. He told me that he would make me another one for me. Thank you. Not only your burger is good but your service has earned my business until further notice.

The burgers and fries were subpar and disappointing. Double cheeseburger lacked flavor and was dry. The fries and onion rings were hot in temperature but did not taste fresh. It’s rare for me to say but everything needs more sodium! 2 stars for friendly and quick service.

Eating at this place is like playing a round of Russian roulette, only with food– meaning you may or may not get some form of stomach worm or food poisoning. My girlfriends and I were having a girls night and wanted to pig out, so this place looked pretty good to us at the time. I highly recommend getting their vanilla soft serve. I got their bacon cheeseburger with fries. I must say I have never had a burger so satisfying. I literally had to stop half way through the burger to wipe off the sweat and catch my breath. The burger was HUGE and filled with cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, both grilled and raw onions and their secret sauce. Their fries were actually completely atrocious. They had thick cut fries and they were soggy, had a weird taste, not fresh at all. Skip the fries altogether, the burger is big enough and all you would need to get a satisfying meal.

So I always want to check out the little independent burger joints. Sometimes you find outstanding exceedingly awesome places to grub… and sometimes well you find a Jim’s… not so famous and not so fresh… Everything tasted like it had been frozen just about. The Onion Rings for example were dead ringers and likely frozen Sysco ORs. The burgers were super thin and definitely reminded me premade frozen burgers that you pick up at the store and try to pass off as homemade when its just preformed frozen bleh crapola. So maybe their Mexican option would be better and the Munchkin decided to get taquitos as she loves taquitos… Well the taquitos had an itty bitty amount of meat in each one. Let alone it was definitely not up to the standards I expect of Mexican food from all of the joints around LA/SoCal in general. Talk about majorly disappointed. Ohhh and be prepared as they are sauce Nazis as well. Additional charge if you want more than what they think is needed for your rings, fries, or whatnot. Seriously this is not a place I plan to return to. It just doesnt hold up on a real scale. *shrugs* and yeah I will not be back as this place just isnt up to snuff to me.

Jim’s Burger is located in the Mon-Arc Center on the north side of Duarte Rd by 6th Street. It’s basically in a plaza full of Chinese stores/restaurants. They are in the same area where Luscious Dumplings are located. It has an old school feel inside and their prices are reasonable. Nothing fancy here. For lunch, my coworkers like to come here(especially the pregnant one lol) and grab a sandwich, burger, zucchini fries or pastrami & chili cheese fries! The last time I was here I ordered a Large ice cream cone expecting it to be the same size as Foster’s Freeze… boy was I wrong!!! The cone was longer than my head… absolutely HUGE… but I finished it!(Photo included) I also like their cheeseburgers(just less than $ 4). 156⁄100 Reviews for 2015

If you’re ever in the mood for breakfast burrito, this is the place to have it. I usually order the breakfast burrito with egg, cheese, hash brown. The lady behind the counter asked if its okay to add onions & salsa in my burrito, I said yes please! The burrito is filled with tons of flavor, must try!

avocado bacon cheeseburger, large fries and large zucchini fries with sides of ranch. yum yum yum. The large sides are enough to share with 4+ people so beware. Food is made to order. Solid burger place still does not compete with in n out but its still a burger and the zucchini fries though!

I have been here twice, and both times it was good. I have had burgers, and recommend the avocado burger. They have good fries and onion rings. Save room for dessert, though. They have delicious swirl soft serve. No, definitely don’t miss that. I might come back just to get a cone to go.

This(and In-n-Out) is what California tastes like. Having recently come back from interning abroad over the summer I was desperately in need of a good old fashioned American dining experience. Which, unfortunately, is a craving quite difficult to satisfy living in the 626. Thank goodness for Jim’s! Their avocado cheeseburger is bomb dot com and totally hit the spot. They give you such a generous amount of avocado and the burger includes both raw AND grilled onions. Mmmm. The whole thing is simply amazeballs. Also worth noting are the infamous zucchini fries. Definitely a must. Comes out hot, fresh, and delicious! They’re a healthier alternative to regular fries which is always a plus. Don’t forget the ranch!

I typically enjoy a hole in the wall burger place but this place although had the looks of a nice small burger joint, the food sadly was just OK in my books. I got the ½ lb cheese burger and it was just alright. Little overcooked in my opinion so it wasn’t as juicy as I was expecting it to be. Fries were standard. Tried the zucchini fries which were kind of highly praised here but the breading was just too much; I didn’t personally enjoy them. I’d put them in the same category as onion rings in my books. Too heavily covered with a starch. I think it would have tasted better if it was tempura battered instead. Left a little disappointed and probably would go elsewhere for my burger cravings.

Swing by Jim’s the other night. I really like this mom and pop burger joint. I got the cheeseburger. Comes with all the fixings but the thing that did it for me is that it comes with grilled and fresh onions. I never even thought about having that combination. My wife and I shared a large fries. And by large I mean ginormous. We are still eating these fries and will probably be munching on the for the rest of the week. What I’m trying to say is that it’s a large amount of fries. Overall I really like this place. No combo pricing. Everything is a la carte. Also cost an extra $.50 for ranch to dip those fries in.

Been coming here every week for about 3 years now… What can i say besides that this is an amazing place to eat. When you walk in, the atmosphere just makes you feel good. The cashier is always smiling while taking orders and the food comes quick! The food… Tastes amazing no matter what you order! My recommendations are the chili cheese fries, fish sandwich, garden burger, and my personal creation:(double avocado cheeseburger with grilled onion and bacon). This place is great and i will always come back for more!

This place wasn’t great. The chilli burger wasn’t good quality and the fries weren’t cooked evenly. I don’t suggest this place unless your in a hurry.

I grew up eating here, my childhood probably smells like their bacon cheeseburgers. Today I decided to be adventurous(okay, not really I was really craving avocado) so we ordered the avocado BLT, and the usuals: bacon cheeseburger and zucchini fries. The avocado BLT was beautiful(look at the picture and see for yourself haha), it was filled with slices of avocado and had layers of crispy bacon. There was also the perfect amount of lettuce and mayo as well. Their zucchini fries are REALLY good, they’re not over battered or soggy. They’re thin and crispy, and when you smother it in the ranch dressing … Oh goodness. I always feel sick after eating them though, maybe it’s not the best idea to bathe each fry in ranch but it’s so worth it. Their bacon cheeseburger is good, they put a little too much raw onion sometimes though which could be overbearing. But they make up for it with loads of cheese. This is a nice little burger joint if you’re looking for fast food with quality.

I’ve gone to Jims burgers for years, and it’s never disappointed me. There is always good food and customer service. Today we had the patty melt, the bacon cheeseburger, some chili cheese fries and an ice cream The patty melt was TWO patties! I didn’t even know. It was like a grilled cheese with onions and meat. Mmm The bacon on the burger was crisp and delicious. A good standard! The chili cheese fries are my old favorite. It may just be a nostalgia thing, but I can eat them all day. And if you haven’t had Jims ice cream, you haven’t lived. Just saying.

This place is definitely a solid 3.5 stars, no more and no less. Too bad I can’t do that, so I’ll have to round up to 4. My parents told me about this place since they were saying how their burgers don’t taste like it’s loaded with MSG or super oily. So here we are for lunch! I got the cheeseburger and chili cheese fries, and my parents shared an avocado cheeseburger, which I regret not getting. After being in San Diego for a while, I’ve had my fair share of burgers. I have to say, this burger definitely is a «healthier» alternative. It doesn’t taste too oily like my parents said, BUT I really think the patty proportion is off. The burger itself is pretty big, but the patty is ridiculously thin. The bread and the lettuce is what makes up for most of the burger(look at the picture I posted). I felt like I was eating bread more than anything, and I wasn’t sure that the meat had any flavors at all. Because of this, I really wished that I did have that avocado in my burger because there was just nothing in there. So if you like avocado, I recommend getting the avocado cheeseburger instead of a plain cheeseburger. Trust me, it’ll taste better. The chili cheese fries weren’t bad. These fries didn’t taste as sinful as the others I’ve had. They were still oily, but I didn’t feel like crap after eating them. However, the chili definitely could have been a lot better. Overall, I thought this place was good, but not great. The burgers are pretty cheap as well without additions(my cheeseburger was about $ 3.50). I liked how the lady behind the register was always smiling, so that was good. If you don’t want to feel like crap but still want to eat a burger, then this is the restaurant for you. If you want a burger that’s gonna fill you up with carbs, this is also the restaurant for you. If you’re looking for a delicious juicy burger, look elsewhere or maybe you’re gonna have to order something else on the menu(to be fair, they have a pretty extensive menu with other alternatives). Oh and for some reason, there were flies that kept hovering over our food. It was pretty annoying so –1 for that.
