They are always friendly and have a lot of great things on tap as well as delicious food I like that they stay open later than most places in Monrovia. The bartenders are terrific and the hostesses are the best. They have trivia night now on Monday it is pop culture. Plenty of televisions to watch the game and they will give you a taste of anything that you want to taste is far as beers go. The poutine fries are fantastic. The burger is good and everyone loves the pizza

Nice to have a local place with a tasty selection of craft beers. Browse through their menu conveniently on an ipad which also gives a detailed description & history of each beer. Customize your flight to your liking. No set flights. My flight included a perfect variety of dark coffee, pale ale, & light summer beers. The Mother Earth Sin Tax PB stout on nitro is the shizz! Food is also very good. Chill atmosphere & several flat screens so you dont miss any of your favorite teams playing.

What a great sports bar! I came early on a Friday, right at the beginning of the street festival time. I had the turkey burger and it had the be the best turkey burger I had in a very long time. The bar staff was very friendly and the drink prices weren’t bad either!

Not sure why anyone sane would close their kitchen an hour before the doors close? Great beer, great food, questionable management practices. This is what I previously wrote… However, I now understand why they do what they do — and, hence the updated review. In short, I was quick to judge and I was wrong. The food here is amazing, and the rotating beer selection is top notch. I’ve been back twice, and I’ll keep coming back. Great staff, great service and highly recommended.

I have been Alhambra location. They always have good food and beer. Since they opened in Monovia, I must try ! Oh yes! Food is good, beer always good and service is absolutely five stars! This is my new Friday night beer place. Only parking is hard to find.(Because Myrtle is closed for farmers market) It might be better use Über. Anyways, I will give five stars!

Awesome and attentive waitstaff serving great food and a wide selection of craft brews. Servers and bartenders are all very knowledgeable about ever rotating selection of beers on tap and are able to make great reccomendations to accompany your food selection. I will be back. And i will try something new. And i have no doubt that it will be awesome.

Food was alright — my husband couldn’t finish his burger, commented it was dry. The Philly cheesesteak was pretty good, especially hot out of the kitchen. Don’t wait too long to eat it or the bread will fall apart. I can’t get over the fact that there is no baby changing station here. I like to think that I’m not a diva mom, but if you are going to offer high chairs, have a baby changing station. We had to put our 9 month old on the ground around the corner from the restaurant to change him. Definitely not ideal.

I was in town for a wedding, and ate here twice in 12 hours. We waited 30 minutes for 10 people on a Friday night, not bad at all. The menu is great, and my short ribs with truffle risotto was just delicious. Whatever people at out table got(poutine, mussels, rabbit pierogis), everyone was commenting on how delicious the food was. Also really great beer selection, great waitstaff, and those jalapeño margaritas hit the spot. I dreamt about the rabbit burger, came back for lunch the next day, and it did not disappoint. I also felt prices were just fine(some think it’s overpriced looking on here). I mean, it’s not cheap, but $ 16 for a rabbit burger with home-made bbq sauce, fried shoestring onions, white cheddar, a portabella mushroom, and fries – that’s not half bad.

The new Monrovia location is sub-par to the Alhambra one. The food quality is ok, but not great. The wait time on the food(on a Sunday night), was longer than usual(1 hour?) Food– –Killer Tofu Cucumber Roll: presentation is nice, taste is bland –Honey Chicken Wings: Best thing on the menu –Short Rib w/risotto: tasty, but risotto not fully cooked –Chorizo Mac&Cheese: Grainy sauce and shell noodles were very under done Beer– Decent selection, rotating tap. I would not come back to the Monrovia location.

If you’re a fan of beer and want to get an eclectic choice of various styles from local breweries and breweries around the country this is the place to go. The taplist here has beers you simply will not find at other taprooms in the area, and it’s clear that someone has taken the time to hand pick the beers they offer on tap, and that’s not to mention their gaudy bottle list too! Sit at the bar and get an education on beer from one of the bartenders as they guide you through the tasters or normal pours of the beer you selected. If you see something that peaks your interest don’t be afraid to ask for a sampler to taste for free. At the end of the day this day is a business, but that does not mean they are not committed to providing great service while advocating for the proliferation of informed and enlightened beer drinkers. Check this place out and you will not regret it. You never know what you’ll find on tap, and it’s a great spot to spend some time with friends in old Town Monrovia

Living smack dab in LA, I never have a problem with finding vegan food at restaurants as there is ALWAYS a vegan option on the menu. Whenever I come back to the SGV to visit friends or family I always have a hard time figuring what to eat. I usually just resort to a house salad. I’m not a big beer person, but I have an appreciation for local brewers, mostly for the fact that they’re very accommodating to vegans. Vegan food and breweries just go hand and hand, oddly. They have 3 vegan options. Killer Tofu Cucumber Roll, Crispy Tofu Tacos and Tofu & Forbidden Rice. I split an order of Tofu & Forbidden Rice with my sister. Without even asking, the waiter went the extra mile and split it on two separate plates. The entrée was soo good. It included black rice, sauteed pea shoots, cremini mushrooms, red coconut curry spread alll over with fried tofu resting on top. It’s really easy to fuck up fried tofu and the way they cooked it was just perfect. Whether you’re vegan or not, I highly recommend this. My cousin introduced my sister and I to this place since he knows the dude who owns it. We came here on a Saturday afternoon with his 3-year-old daughter. It wasn’t on the menu, but she just got mac & cheese. They have mother mac & cheeses that come with meat and all that by the way. I’m a fan of wiggle room, high ceilings, spacious areas … basically places that are open and aren’t claustrophobic. Being in LA, you get used to the idea of being suffocated, so it’s nice to breathe for a change. 38 degrees is huge and a great addition to Monrovia’s gradual modernization. P. S. If you’re not a big beer person and can’t hold down an IPA, and looking for something sour and a bit crispy, get the Avery Lilikoi Kepolo.

Ok. I like 38 Degrees Ale House in Alhambra, so when my person suggested the Monrovia location, I was like… cool. Located in Old Town Monrovia, its on Colorado Blvd with plenty of parking lots and streets available. Arriving around 5:30, there were patrons but not overpacked. I was seated immediately and we both made it on time for Happy Hour. Service was fine. Food on the other hand, not so great. I was actually quite disappointed because I know the food can be pretty great here but I guess not the happy hour selection. If you do come for a visit, I suggest you NOT ordering the from the HH menu. Order everything else! My person and I barely finished what we did happen to order and only because we didn’t want to waste anything.

Stumbled up on this place while in Pasadena, CA! Pretty spacious sports bar type feel. Happy Hour had some decent specials. I ordered the curried salmon cake sliders and the fish tempura tacos. The salmon cakes were a little dry but tasty. Definitely fulfilling. The fish tacos were excellent. The sauces, tortillas, and breading were light and crisp without being messy and fulfilling as well. Prices were moderate and food was a decent surprise. Also they have over 20 – 25 beers on tap as well

I was excited this place was opening. Could use another Happy Hour in old town Monrovia. But unfortunately, the happy hour ends at 6pm at this location although it ends at 7pm at their Alhambra location. So that means I can never make it to this happy hour. So back to Bella Sera and Sena. My experience was not bad though. My friend’s sweet potato fries were nice and crispy and not coated with flour. My poutine was just okay. I found the cheese to be lacking. It uses burrata which i think is a little too mild for something like poutine and its overpowered by the gravy. These fries were wheat free but not legally gluten-free as they use the same oil to fry them as they do some wheat products. So I was able to eat these. Service was very friendly. We had two people helping us at the bar and they were attentive and helpful and friendly. The environment was typical sports bar with an industrial vibe. They have a varied menu from tofu dishes to pork dishes. Extend your happy hour!

3.5 Stars This location used to be Merengue Bakery & Café which has relocated to Myrtle Avenue. After long anticipation, 38 Degrees Ale House & Grill finally opened its doors December of 2015. I didn’t see any signage for it though so you wouldn’t notice it driving by. My coworker came here with two others for Happy Hour one time. HAPPYHOUR is Monday-Friday from 3:00 — 6:00PM($ 2 off Select Craft Draughts, Wine by the glass, Signature Cocktails and all Spirits). She said the beers were great and so was the Ratatouille Flat Bread($ 6). They have long tables throughout so most likely you’ll be sharing a table with other people. The one negative she mentioned was that the hostess picked up her purse and handed it to her instead of asking her to move it in order to make room for someone. The guy that sat next to her was already a bit buzzed/drunk and a bit obnoxious. So there are some cons for the shared seating. I came here for lunch with 6 other people. We tried the Poutine($ 12.00) which is hand-cut fries, bacon-duck gravy, burrata cheese, green onion, and a sunny-side up egg). I thought it was just okay. An authentic Poutine is made with french fries and cheese curds topped with a brown gravy. They serve Venison, Duck, and Rabbit here… I ordered the Turkey Burger($ 12.00) which was ground turkey, capers aioli, roasted red pepper, cheddar cheese, baby arugula on a sweet bun served with fries or you can upgrade to sweet potato fries. The turkey patty was really thick and you could tell they made them from scratch. I was not a fan of the fries or the sauce they serve them with. I had to ask for some ketchup. The thought my burger overall was actually a little bland. My friends ordered the B.L.T.C.A(bacon, lettuce, tomato, chicken, avocado), Turkey Cobb(ground turkey, garlic aioli, bacon, avocado, point reyes blue cheese, baby arugula, fried-egg), and the Backyard Burger which is made with triple grind angus chuck. My friend who ordered the burger enjoyed her meal. Overall, I think our feeling was the food was just okay. It would be a great place for drinks and to watch a sporting event or something. 3⁄100 Reviews for 2016

Gonna give this 2.5 stars for now. I do like the 38 degree chain. I’ve had their Alhambra location before. It’s a much welcomed spot to the Monrovia food scene. They have really nice waiters, and a good selection of beer on tap. Our waiter made me a flight, including a coconut stout that was pretty good. For apps we had the poutine and it was pretty good. My aunt from Canada says it’s better there, but since I haven’t had it in Canada, I say it was pretty good. For my meal I had the duck burger. Now to be fair the waiter did warn me that it was a «complex» burger … but since I enjoy trying new things(and a duck burger is certainly new to me) I had to give it a try. The patty itself wasn’t all that bad, but the flavors of the burger were just not at all complimentary to one another. It was like various different strong tastes were fighting for my attention, and none of them were giving up. I don’t often leave a plate half eaten, but i just couldn’t get myself to finish this one. If it were just my meal alone that had an issue I probably would have left this as a 3 star review, but my aunt’s was even worse. She ordered the fish and chips and the fish was not cooked through — to the point where it has that shiny gloss and rubbery texture only uncooked fish can have. Also her tartar sauce was more mustardy — which doesn’t make sense — sometimes it’s best not to fix what ain’t broken. Now, since I was warned about my dish, and since I do like this chain generally, I will be giving this place another chance — and at the very least i’ll be back for their great selection of beers … but I think they just need to stop trying to get so fancy and stick to good quality/good tasting dishes. Stay Cheerful ;)

Stopped in whilst looking for a place to grab a bite. I’ve been to the one in Alhambra and I dont remember the prices being so high. Perhaps its because I dont expect that kind of pricing in Monrovia. Not when you compare them to Sena and London. Still. The beer selection was as fantastic as usual. Parking: plenty of free parking in the area this Sunday.
