Mario and his co-worker came to my house to look at my pieces. From the first few minutes of conversation it was apparent that Mario loves beautiful old furniture as much as I do. He is more than a refinisher; he is an old-world craftsman. He did two jobs for me. The first was the reattachment of claw feet to a 100 year old table, which he expertly did. The second job was bringing back a drum style coffee table to life. The table was of great sentimental value; my parents bought it right after my father returned from WWII. Both my brother and I learned to walk circling this table. It is mahogany with a leather top, which had been sadly abused over the years. The table was a complete wreck when Mario took it to his shop.- the leather was marred and scratched, the wood was chunked off and scratched. I could not believe my eyes when I picked it up. I know it is the same table I he took to his shop but I’d swear he found a new one and subbed it in for mine. It is beyond what I thought was even possible with such a used piece of furniture. I could not be happier with the job they did. This is the place to go if you want your furniture handled by someone who respects and loves it as much as you do. Mario is an artist.

Brought an antique rocking chair to them to have it refinished and the seat reupholstered. They do not reupholster, but did recommend someone who could. They did a beautiful job stripping the old finish off, staining and then finishing the wood. It was amazing that they were able to get it looking like they did. It was then sent across the way for the seat to be upholstered. Sending it there was a huge mistake! When the upholstery was finished over a month later, the finish on the wood was scratched and there was blue paint on it. The chair was sent back to Mar-Lynn, would had to rest rip and refinish the chair to fix the damage that was done. They also had a different person upholster the seat. End result – the chair is absolutely beautiful!

My great-grandmother’s travel spinning wheel was given to me years ago and it sat on display in the corner of my living room. It’s special to me because of its history, but someone along the line of its existence had painted it and done a really bad job. There were paint runs, it was an ugly color, and it bothered me to see it not at its best. I took it to Mario to have him see what could be done because he had refinished a bed for me a few years back and his work was excellent. He told me he’d have to research it and it would take a while to complete, but he seemed excited about taking it on. He kept in touch with me and had me come in after it was stripped to choose stain. Just the difference in having the awful paint removed was amazing! The wood was beautiful even unfinished. In removing the paint he even found some pieces had metal trim on them that couldn’t be seen before. Last weekend I picked up the finished spinning wheel and Mario really outdid himself. It is more beautiful than I imagined it would be. He even turned a few missing pieces so it would be complete. I am so happy every time I look at it now, it’s a piece of art. Mario is a truly gifted and caring craftsman, one of the few around. I’ve already talked to him about the next project I’m going to bring him!
