love it here! love the jalapeño cheese balls, dry rub wings, and the Rockefeller oysters have to be my favorite! super nice staff also! highly reccomend! haven’t had a bad thing yet!

Food is good, but the bartender service varied greatly. I visited the bar twice (two consecutive nights) for a quick visit. The first night was great. Jessica did a great job. The second night (6÷14÷15) the guy with the handlebar mustache and tank top was terrible. He spent the entire evening talking with his buddies and fellow coworker ignoring patrons. Not cool.

Pretty typical bar food but it was good. Great selection of beer. I had the turkey dip and the turkey was really good. As we’re the garlic fries. Had the potato skins which were also good.

Love this place. The girl bartender whose name starts with a T (I’ll butcher the spelling lol) is awesome! Great place to have a drink and some grub. Definitely recommend this spot!

After a very disappointing experience with Cool Hand Luke, we needed a late night dinner. We stopped by tap room simply because we were driving by. Was the best decision of the night. Michael was our server and he completely turned the night around for us. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Couldn’t be better. I can’t say enough great stuff about Michael and his attitude and service. You would think it was that of someone trying to make my experience great under the circumstances yet he was unaware of our circumstance. This clearly tells me it’s just his overall service everyday. Tap Room, you guys nailed it tonight and gained a loyal customer. Thank you.

Beer selection isn’t anything to be impressed with. I ordered the Thai Tacos, the chicken tasted off, the toppings were not as described on the menu. The service was slow as well.

Let’s just say if I could give my experience negative stars, I would!
The bartender, I think his name was Michael, was by far the rudest bartender I have ever encountered!
My friend and I stopped there on a Saturday night in April 2016 around 12am or so. Like most bars, there was a touch screen jukebox. I put my dollar in and played a song and apparently this really bothered Michael.
He had the audacity to tell us our music choice was «crap» and that we should listen to REAL music like «Fleetwood Mac» *eye roll*.
We weren’t looking for an argument and we honestly didn’t want to be bothered, but he kept pestering us until the song was over and then played some other «better» song. Way to kill our buzz, dude.
His rudeness didn’t stop there. He was also condescending when we asked to split our tab. He was trying to tell us to subtract one amount from the other. We didn’t ask him to figure out a math problem, we asked him to split a damn bill. Thanks for the math lesson Michael, but luckily subtraction was covered in my undergrad career!
Overall, horrible experience. I hope the rest of your staff isn’t as arrogant and self righteous as this guy.
Oh, and I also didn’t know bartenders were allowed to take shots (2 shots of Jäger to be exact) with customers. Guess the rules don’t apply to this jerk!

Food was good! I really loved the atmosphere, the music is great all around good hang out place. Felt really comfortable here. I ordered a steak sandwich it was fairly good. Our waitress was awesome. I would definitely recommend this to everyone that is looking to have a good chill spot

Food was decent and beer was cold. Service was ok, but not a bad place to visit for a quick drink and eat.

I think I made an ordering mistake. They had some specials, including fried chicken with garlic mashed potatoes. Neither were very good, under-​seasoned and the chicken was tenders, not real fried chicken. Forget what I had to drink, but whatever it was, if I hadn’t been driving I would have needed more to offset the food. Service was friendly enough, but not to make up for bites that bite.

Was Friday night so it was fun and the service was good for a Friday night. The garlic fries were great and the raw oysters great to.

This place is awesome. Killer food, great beer, and a staff who acts like they are happy your there.
I’m not sure where some of these bad reviews are coming from… Our buddy John wrote a review saying its a biker bar! Lol sorry John, some of us have Harley’s and stop in for some food.

If you like biker bars – Harleys, not cyclists – you’ll like the Taproom Pub. During our visit, two, almost deaf, pathetic bikers could not carry a conversation without yelling f-​bombs and other pathetic language you wouldn’t want your date to hear. We were with friends, but could not wait to get out of this place.
The food was mostly forgettable. The beer list was, m’eh, ok. Sadly, the ambiance with said pathetic bikers ruined it for us. No plans on coming back.

Love this place! Small space but they treat you like a regular here! Employees are like family. Remember your name and orders! Decent beer selection. Food is good, try the oysters! Super close for those of us who live out here in the sticks lol. Great atmosphere.

I’ve never had a bad time here. Staff is friendly, beer selection good. This is where I come after work to have a beer or two, relax and have a great time.
Met Michael tonight, this guy knows his beers and. The intricacies that follow.

I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed. It’s pretty small, but there is an outdoor dining area in addition to the bar. There was a birthday party going on when we arrived. If I had realized that before we got a table, we probably would have left because I felt like we were intruding. The waitress made us feel welcome and comfortable, so I applaud her professionalism. She was very knowledgeable about the beers they had on tap as well.
My husband and I split an order of loaded potato skins as an appetizer. He had a steak sandwich and I ordered the pulled pork sliders. Even though the place was busy, service was quick and efficient. The potato skins were probably the best I have ever had. They were fresh and not greasy at all. My husband’s sandwich had a generous sirloin steak smothered with mushrooms and onions. I had to sneak a bite and I must say it was delicious. My sliders were amazing. The barbecue sauce was sweet and tangy and the cole slaw that topped it was crisp and not overwhelming. The fries were good too.
The music was loud. So much so that conversation was impossible. It may have been due to the party, though. I will definitely come back.

The oysters were oddly meaty. I’m used to smaller, sweeter ones. But this place is a find. In Modesto? Great food and great beer selection with really pleasant service. It’s off the beaten path but well worth checking out.

Have ate here a few times and the food has been pretty decent. They have a good selection of beers.
Went on a Sunday at around ten, as hours show it opens at 9am. We showed up at 10:15 and it wasn’t open. A not so friendly guy was setting up patio furniture and said the place wouldn’t up until 11. They have breakfast on the menu and don’t open up until 11?

I found Taproom on Unilocal reading a friends review and sounded like my idea of a good time. Taproom is a small and filled with people especially when there are sports on because they have several TV’s. The reason I was attracted to the Taproom is because of the menu. Not only do I like to get a good beer, which there is a HUGE selection, I enjoy good bar food. It is hard to find Oysters around Modesto, but Taproom offers three different preparations of Oysters, my favorite by far is the Oyster Rockefeller (please see posted pic.) The potato skins have been a flip flop sometimes they are super delicious, sometimes they are your average potato skin. The menu is pretty awesome, offering items such as Chicken and Waffles, Pork Sliders, Thai Tacos, fried mac and cheese with a bacon jam on top, mmm.
The downside of Taproom is that there is minimal seating. Sometimes the inside is full which forces you to go outside. The dumpster is very close to the patio area so there are a lot of flies. I heard that on Fridays, the Taproom has live music outside which is great because that’s just one more thing to do in Modesto. I can’t imagine flies would be an issue at night. If there are no seats inside you can tell a waitress to keep an eye out for you and you can move inside fairly quickly.
The customer service at the Taproom is great. All of the waitresses are very knowledgeable about the beer menu which is greatly appreciated. Sometimes we sit at the bar and the bartenders are also knowledgeable and attentive. I must add, not only does Taproom have a huge beer list they also have a full bar. I think its neat that all of the staff wears shirts from a local brewery– good way to find out about new places.
Overall, I enjoy taproom and despite the flies I still give it 5 stars because of the overall experience when sitting inside. I will be back to Taproom as it is one of my favorite places to watch sports, have a cold one and eat some good food!

I came in here one Friday after work. I live a mile or 2 away so first off, I am grateful for a place that serves good beer so close to home.
I had a Lagunitas Nighttime ale for $ 5 and it was happy to see their other selections, including the Dust Bowl brews from nearby Turlock. I ordered the potato skin appetizer and it was unevenly heated. Some areas were a bit cold and other hot, almost like it should have been rotated in the broiler. Oh well, I still give them 5 stars for the straightforward operation they run and good beer.
I will be back this fall for college football season…
