I’ve been going here for 25+ years and the taste and people are very consistent. I love their daily specials and friendly faces. Thank you for your services and food Jo Jo!

While staying in a area Modesto hospital, I was craving some tacos… I happen to see this place on my way so I decided to stop. I drove through their drive thru and ordered five tacos. The lady said its $ 24 and change… I was like wow! How big are your guys’ tacos? She replied, «they are a big size». I reordered my amount to only 3. After paying almost $ 15, I drove back to the hospital and opened my bag of tacos. I couldn’t believe that the tacos were just regular size. The two tacos that were for me, were covered with tons of lettuce and pico de gallo salsa. I thought, WHERESTHECARNEASADA? Plus their red salsa was like a watered down Pace Picante Style Sauce. I was so disappointed. I think I would never recommend this place, first, its way to pricey and second its not that good. Just saying, don’t make the mistake I made, save your money and find a real mexican food place.

I used to come in here occasionally several ago and was never impressed, just average unremarkable food. After reading the reviews I was hesitant to come back, but decided to give it a chance. The parking lot was clean and the landscape well taken care of. The exterior of the building looked like it had been freshly painted with nice eye catching colors. Walked inside and it was extremely clean, looked like fairly recently new carpet and all the tables were clean and matched the exterior color scheme. Customer service was very friendly and took my order fast. They have a large menu selections and I decided on the chili releno plate with rice, beans and a taco. At $ 7.25, it seemed like a good deal. Took about 5 minutes to get the food and when I picked it up from the counter it smelled really good. The rice is an average Spanish rice, nothing fancy, but was moist and good texture, the refried beans were good, seemed fresh and had nice melted cheese on top. The chile releno was really good, although it was a canned chili and not a fresh chili, it was nice and meaty, lots of melted cheese inside, the sauce was very tasty and almost a creamy enchilada sauce, different from any I’ve ever had, but delicious. The shredded beef taco was surprising, it looked like an average taco in a prefried corn shell, with shredded lettuce, cheese and tomatoes, then the shredded beef, it was packed with a moist, really fresh and flavorful shredded meat. The meat was moist but no so wet it made the taco soggy. My overall experience was really good and I was really happily surprised considering the negative reviews I have read. Looking forward to my next trip to try something different.

Cheap good mexican food, they have good daily specials and always look forward to stopping by Garcia Jo Jo’s. Wish they had more locations closer to the bay area!

This place has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I came in with a friend and I didn’t order anything because I wasn’t hungry. I asked for a key to the Restroom and they said I can’t go to the bathroom unless I order something according to the restaurant rules. In which I ended up paying 3 dollars to use the restroom that was dirty. Never going back to this place in my life. –Anna’s friend

The food is good and reasonably priced. The dinning room is dirty and needs a good cleaning. It looks like they haven’t vacuumed in a while. There was a strange musty smell. I would recommend taking food to go.

Its always nice when the owner of a small business greets you when you come in. At Garcia Joe Jo’s its a great day when I hear his voice on the drive thru speaker he’s happy and positive every time! The food it always very good and a great value for the money. New young business people could learn from him treat your customers well and they’ll come back for years my family has. Thankyou for 20 years of great food!!!

This place was absolutely repulsive me and my brother had carnitas nachos and enchilada with a taco The carnitas were bland and extremely old tasted like they had been sitting out all day, the sour cream and beans in my nachos had an extremely bland and unpleasant taste. Me and my brother love food and I hate wasting food this is literally one of the only times in my life where we have walked away from a meal. My brother said that his enchilada sauce as well as rice and beans and hamburger meat we’re completely disgusting his plate looks like a pile of vomit when we left. I guess some people like this place and I will never figure out why, but I urge everyone to stay far away this place makes Taco Bell seem like a world-class Mexican cuisine I will never set foot in this place again it was an experiment that I wish I never experienced

Inexpensive, tasty and very nice service. It’s sort of like a poor man’s El Pollo Loco without the super duper long line.

I really really wanted to like this place. I don’t know if it was the attractive sounding Australian man in the commercials that gave me hope for this restaurant, but I was heavily disappointed. The first thing that kind of got my goat was the cup charges. I wanted the garnish on the side of my Carnitas meal and the tiny cup was 15¢ that they put it in. I understand we’re in hard times guys, but come on. When I dug into my meal(I was starving) the color of the meat was… interesting. You know when you go digging through the back of your fridge in mid-february because of a random cleaning kick, then you find the discolored thanksgiving turkey? Yeah, that color. 0⁄10. screw this place.

Price is right, late hours, drive thru, people are nice, food is ok, not super authentic. Recommend cheese enchiladas with green sauce.

I wish I didn’t have to give them such a bad review. I would have loved to support a Mexican food drive through that is not Taco Bell Buuut the food was just horrible. I have not tasted worse Mexican food . Just terrible And stale tasting. Unfortunately you should choose Taco Bell over this place.

This place has been here forever! I remember going here with my grandma back in the 80s as a kid. The customer service has never changed. Awesome! The food is always great, and their salsa is some of the best I’ve tasted that I consider«mild». A great place to eat at an affordable price.

I’ve been going to Garcia Jo Jo’s for more than 30 years and don’t think my low rating is an indication that I’ll stop. The food is just OK. There is certainly better Mexican food in Modesto. I think all their ingredients are straight off the Sysco truck. And today I waited to have my order taken for over a minute at 5 pm because an employee was busy applying lipstick in the kitchen. Isn’t that some sort of health code violation? But the nachos are simple, cheap, and tasty, the chocolate shake is about perfect, and it’s a small family owned business so I feel better about spending my money there than Taco Bell. But I really wish they were better. I’m sorry to say that this restaurant is a tradition of mediocrity.

Not worth the hype… I won’t go back. I feel you could almost do as well at Taco Bell. Location is a bit difficult to get into. Service is fast though. Hate to say it, but true.

Always a great lunch place since they are always pretty quick. Drive thru is always packed when I go there so that’s a good sign that others like this place too. When a place is empty it’s scary. Kinda funny that after I moved to Modesto I forgot about this place. Now I live here and not too far away so I should stop in more frequently for burritos. I haven’t had anything else so I can’t vouch for the rest of the menu.

The four Fs: Food fit for Fido. On second thought, I wouldn’t let my dog eat here. I don’t like Taco Bell, but this place left me wishing I’d stopped at a Taco Bell instead. It’s bad – I mean really, really bad. Who eats here? By the looks of it, not too many Modestans eat here. Flavorless, stale, tired swill. Just a guess, but it tastes like everything comes out of a can. There’s nothing redeeming about the grub here. Authentic? I guess it depends on where in Mexico you’ve been. I’ve never tasted anything this disgusting in Mexico. If you’re thinking about eating here, don’t. I wish I’d driven past this place.
