I am always happy to give a good review for satisfactory work, however, in this case, I simply can not. I called to make a summer service call only for my rental a/c. Something I normally do every summer to make sure the a/c unit is running properly. I normally pay $ 150 for this service call, providing no problems detected. The other vendor was not available this time, so I called Fred Hill. I was told the evaluation fee would be $ 98, providing no problems$. I gave instructions along with my phone number, to call me before doing any work, so I could approve the work, they agreed. When I didn’t hear from them, I called to find I was being billed over $ 300, I was directed to the service man that evaluated the a/c unit. I asked him what problem he found to verify this cost? He said my renter was a no show for the appointment and so they charged $ 104 for their time to reschedule, being renter never called. My renter had already disclosed this fact to me and was offering to pay the $ 104, so I asked again«what problems were found to verify the $ 200 remainder of the bill»? They said they would get back to me. I did hear back from them with an offer to cut the total bill to $ 228, making the no show fee at half price of $ 54. Once again, I told them I have no problem with the no show fee, as they should be paid for their time, but I needed to know why I was being charged over and beyond the original quote of $ 98 for an evaluation fee if there were no problems found? At this point I requested an itemized bill. They said they don’t normally give itemized bills. Finally, I received my itemized bill. They said the first quote of over $ 300 was a miscommunication. The itemized bill would now be a total of $ 228. That is $ 98 for the evaluation fee, $ 78 for washing the a/c condensing coil with the rental’s hose and water, and $ 52 for a no show by the tenant. There was nothing wrong with the a/c. The charged me for washing the coil, when I could have done that myself with my own rental water and hose, and they did not call me to tell me they were adding on to bill or give me choice of whether I wanted them to wash my coil for extra $ 78. I had told them prior to this call that I would like to be placed on their yearly schedule for a/c’s, but after this… I think not. They were not true to their word or their quote.
