The food was not fresh. As soon as I ordered 2 minutes later I was served. Not coming back. My little girl never got her order. Other people were smarter than me and left.

The crawfish were yummy. The Vietnamese dish were ok. It’s nice to have something like this open close to where I live.

The noodles were cool, the service was kinda average. We were checked on just once. The clams and oysters were nothing close to boiling crab or rocking crawfish. This is a ok joint if your in the sticks(Modesto)

This place is amazing! My husband and I are big fans of the boiling crab and the crab hut so we had to try this new place in town! I ordered the Dungeness crab and my husband ordered the headless shrimp. Both with the mild and house sauce. The mild had the perfect amount of heat! I love that they serve their seafood in bowls and not bags. That’s a big plus. We also like that they clean the crab for you(yay for no poop) and that they have bigger sized shrimp. You will definitely get full off of 1 order. All of the other food looked so good too! We want to try the phở and garlic noodles next time. Our sides were sausage, Cajun fries, corn on the cob, and papas. Good portions with a fair price! For the two of us it was just under 70 bucks and we got those tapioca drinks as well. You guys earned some regulars for sure!

Disclaimer: 3.5 stars so I rounded it down to 3. Came here on a Saturday night with my family and it was packed. There were TVs playing the Golden State game so it was a loud atmosphere. The service was on point as our waitress was helpful with answering all our questions about the menu. We ordered the crawfish, shrimp, clams, raw oysters, calamari and garlic noodles. One peculiar thing I noticed was that everyone around us ordered the Vietnamese food rather than the Cajun food. My family was set back by this and second guessed ourselves. Our appetizers came out and I was disappointed with the oysters. They did not taste fresh and they were not detached from the shell but the sauces that came along with it were decent. The calamari was breaded lightly and came with a sweet and sour sauce. I would have liked the calamari to be fried more for a more crispy texture. Our entrees came and we were given bibs and gloves to keep our hands clean. The sauce was mediocre and the seafood didn’t taste fresh. It definitely wasn’t the best Cajun food I’ve had but it wasn’t the worst. The crawfish was the best out of the 3 seafood. We also ordered potatoes, corn and sausages to go with the seafood. I would recommend getting all three so you don’t get sick of just seafood. The saving grace of the meal was the garlic noodles. They don’t skimp out on garlic as there are garlic chunks in there. You can’t hate garlic or else you won’t like it. It has the perfect amount of sweetness but it’s not too sweet where you don’t taste the garlic. I would come back here just for those garlic noodles.

We were excited to find a new restaurant was in town, specifically seafood and noodles. I usually like to try a place at least twice before leaving a review, but the kind of food that was served made me second guess that. I’m a Vietnamese-American and my girlfriend is from the Motherland. So, you can imagine we would know how Vietnamese food should taste, right? We order Com Thit Nuong, which is basically BBQ pork over Rice and the all important Staple Vietnamese Dish, Phở. The pork was tasteless. Com Thit Nuong needs to have sort of a caramalization on the pork — which usually comes from the sugar and seasoning that is marinated through out the meat. When biting into the pork, you can taste pork — and you can taste the marinate. But the two flavors never mixed or intertwined to create this classic Vietnamese dish The pork was rock solid, and dry and the rice was a little on the mushy side. If my experience stopped here, I would have given this place a second chance before reviewing, but it did not. My girlfriend had asked me to try the phở — there was something wrong with it. She was absolutely right. The Noodles had a rubbery texture and the broth REALLY did not taste right. The only thing that tastes normal was the meat, but having such an important part of the dish fail crumbles the overall experience. We couldn’t finish it. Although this review only highlights two of the dishes in the restaurant, those two dishes are Staple dishes. I’ve never been to a restaurant in Modesto that couldn’t make these dishes correctly — this is a first. It’s almost like going to a Mexican restaurant where they couldn’t make tacos or burritos. It’s the same instance here. In summary, If you’re looking for noodles or anything that isn’t seafood(I haven’t tried theirs, and I won’t after this) You should try else where. I suggest the noodle shop off kansas, or the one in the save mart plaza off oakdale and floyd. Even DK noodles is getting pretty decent, not great in the super walmart plaza. This place officially shares a spot with iPho, and the noodle shop off mchenry.

Excellent food. Had the crawfish and shrimp combo special with lemongrass sauce. Not much meat in crawfish so I wouldn’t bother with that but the flavors are delectable. Get the garlic noodle and pour sauce over. Plenty for two!

I give this place a 4 out of 5 for food(Had the headless shrimp in the house sauce and I loved it. Wasn’t too crazy about the spicy crawfish or the potatoes and corn side we bought, compared to taste from boiling crab) The service is more of a 2 or 3. Friendly, but slow. And the server we had was very hard to understand. Some of our requests were lost in translation(like can you split the check and can I get refill.) Overall, I do prefer the boiling crab obviously, but I would try it again because of it’s proximity!

Very good food. A nice, unusual addition to Modesto’s restaurant scene. The pork chop was wonderful. Eclectic mix of food. Imagine a Japanese noodle house opened in Louisiana.

Crawfish, Crab and Prawns are awesome! Service is horrible. Advice… call order in and eat at home. These people need service help and etiquette advice in becoming restaurant entrepreneurs.

First time trying out this new place while visiting my family. We ordered a bunch of crawfish, crab legs, mussels and raw oysters. I must admit the sauce was VERY buttery and the flavor was really bland. Don’t think I’ll eat here again.

This place is new. I went here upon recommendations from family. I went here because my favorite place is too far. This restaurant is not so bad. If you want seafood, it’s your place and if you want Vietnamese food, it also the place to go. They have regular Vietnamese and they have food similar to Boiling Crab. If you like the whole shabang spices, then get the house special. The Thai curry is also good. I love shrimp but I definitely recommend the muscles. The place is clean. The location is a bit far off and you have to look for it, the parking lot is a bit rough. The food is overall great!

Food comes out quickly, pork bahn mi is decent and phở was very simple but came with a healthy amount of meat. I wasn’t wowed by either, but will return to try the seafood. Like everyone said, service is very erratic and towards the end my waitress noticed me and totally ignored me until she had sorted out whatever was in her head! The restaurant space also gets really loud even when not at capacity.

Ok so I’ve had my share of crab, shrimp and sausage boils, this place is out of this world and what makes this place exceptional is the flavors they have, the Thai is OMG, heavenly. Cat fish and garlic fries, calamari and chicken wings are on the standard menu, and all of them are bomb. Then they have a full Vietnamese menu and the phở, garlic noodles with beef and the spring rolls were out of this world. Go with a big party so you can taste everything.

Fairly new to Modesto, so we had to try this place out! Walk in on a Friday busy night, the host greet us right away and we were seated within less than a minute! Very nice ambiance, crowd was nice & place looks very clean! Parking lot sucks tho! I ordered phở and it came right away, but I was waiting for my chopsticks & ingredients! I waited 10 mins and decided to get up and grab everything myself! My noodles came out very mushy and no flavor on the broth! I did not like it at all! My husband ordered the headless shrimp with Thai curry flavor & sausage! When they came out with the shrimp, it had its head still on there and no sausage! We inform the waiter and he apologized and brought us a new one! When we got the 2nd round we didn’t see the sausage that we ordered! So he had to take it back. Again !!! FINALLY the 3rd round they finally got it right !! My husband said he loves the shrimp! Lots of flavor, not too salty and he can taste the curry in it! The muscles was very good! I love how it’s not too spicy and not too salty! Our waiter on the hand he was very patient with us, he was nice and friendly, always checking up on us! All the seafood is weight by the pound, not too pricey, it’s worth it! I would come back for more of the seafood!

Food was good, but the service was a cluster of mess. One waiter did not know the different types of crabs. I ordered dungeness crabs and he brought king crab legs… many minutes later he brought dungeness legs… ugh dungeness legs… what about the whole crab? The menu doesn’t say it, but if you order dungeness crabs, you’re only getting legs and not a whole crab. I was hoping there were lobsters, but none here. Garlic noodles were okay; it needed more punch of garlic flavor. As for drinks, I gulp. They serve you canned soda, if that’s what you ordered… no refills. I drank about 3 cans. I hope they’ll consider a vendor contract with Pepsi or coke to have soda machines hooked up. All in all, I’m glad to see a crab/shrimp boil locally in Modesto and I wouldn’t be surprised to see more coming this way. I honestly think this establishment should focus more on the boil and less on the Vietnamese dishes… TOO many items on the menu. Example, the Kickin’ Crab has an extremely easy menu

The food is great. We just went for lunch and didn’t realize the seafood portion of the menu was only served for dinner though. Fried shrimp appetizer: Was pretty good. The breading was more of a spiced one. like you’d expect on a chicken strip or something. Understandeable since they’re trying to be a sort of Cajun Asian fusion. Vietnamese Pork Sandwich: DELICIOUS. The only problem is that the pepper on it was extremely extremely hot. I can usually handle heat fine but this burned my mouth for a good 15 minutes and brought tears to my eyes. wasn’t enjoyable. I’ll order without that next time. Other than that. it was perfect. And only 4.95. Honeydew drink with tapioca ball: Good. The honeydew flavor was really strong which I liked. Very sweet, but I’d order it again. Combo phở. good! We usually go to Phoenix downtown and this is just as good in my opinion. Good broth and they’re generous with the amount of meat. You can tell it’s a new restaurant because it’s a little chaotic, but that’s expected. I think in a month or so they’ll probably be in a better swing of things. Definitely coming back.

Flavoring was excellent but service was a cluster. Service was very disorganized. We got the one pound crawfish each. The Thai curry and Hamarind sauce were very good, along with the side of house sauce they give you. The garlic noodles are definitely not as good as PPQ. One recommendation I have for the owner is not break the noodles before they cook it as it is hard to eat when the noodles are so short. Also, false advertisement… I went there thinking they were also serving phở but apparently they only serve it during lunch. I will be back, but hope the service improves by then.

This little gem has been long awaited and anticipated for the 209. No more long drives to Sacramento or the Bay for this local! I went on opening day and while the food deserves a 5 star, customer service wasn’t top notch; the staff seemed a little nervous and not certain or positive with the menu. There was miscommunication with staff as they were walking around to tables asking who ordered what. One person in my party ordered chicken strips and fries, the fries came out before the chicken strips and needed seasoning but I refuse to base my rating on «American food» in a Vietnamese/Seafood restaurant. The phở broth is phenomenal. A medium bowl can easily be shared. House sauce with spicy heat level is delicious with their shrimp. Garlic noodles are exactly what you’d expect. Combo 18 comes with a deliciously seasoned and cooked pork chop. Imperial rolls are top notch. All in all, I will return to this restaurant and hope that staff has found their groove. Welcome to Modesto, CF noodle & grill and the best of luck to the owners.
