We are at first very elated to see Akashi opening up last year. It’s great to see some more sushi places opening up in the Sienna Plantation area, when the landscape is mostly dominated by fast food restaurants and a few hidden gems. However, being an «Asian Fusion cuisine,» raised some concern. Not sure if this was a Chinese place that was serving more Americanized dishes. We finally tried it a couple weekends ago.(We ordered food to go, so I’ll post another review again if we ever do sit down). When I called to place my order, I asked if their wonton soup came with noodles. You know, I was envisioning the typical Hong Kong style egg noodles, with wonton, char-siu, and some choy too). She responded, «Sorry our wonton soup does not come with noodles.» Disappointing, guess this is not the latest HK food hangout we were envisioning. The second thing, «do you have any other noodle dishes?» She said, «the only other noodles that we have is the Singaporean style noodles.» I looked at my phone at disbelief. There were 12 noodle dishes on their menu, and I had just looked at the menu. Later on she corrected herself, saying that there were some lo-mein dishes. Strike two. Uh oh. Better forget about the Chinese menu. On to Japanese. So I went for the Shogun Bento –Combination of shrimp tempura, beef teriyaki and pork cutlet. Not bad, but could have been much better. The shrimp tempura was a good sized shrimp, but over-battered. The beef teriyaki was good, but maybe not marinated well? The best thing was the pork cutlet. I also got the shrimp lo-mein. It was bland. I added siracha and it tasted much better. I also got the Crunchy Dynamite Roll –tuna salmon yellowtail(inside), topped off with tempura flakes. This was not bad, but not the freshest(like Keeper’s). Yet overall, everything lacked taste. On the positive side — very fast service, food comes out on time, nice ambience and vibe. Whoever had envisioned opening up an Asian fusion place here, made a great move.

My wife«Tried» to eat at your Missouri City location today(2÷15÷2016) at the Missouri City Loca-tion. She has a limit of things she can eat. She requested from the server if she could just get a bowl of steamed rice and broccoli, she was told quite rudely by her server that she could not. She was willing to pay for one of the lunch items but after the response and attitude of the waiter she walked out. Not a good practice in my opinion! We will not be back!

New restaurants are much anticipated and extremely welcome here in Sienna, where there is a shortage of decent places to eat. I have been to Akashi twice — once on New Year’s Eve with my young family and once today. New Year’s Eve was pretty good, we were seated right away, and our waiter was decent. We ordered the sushi boat since we have a lot of mouths to feed and it kept the young ones entertained. The sushi itself was adequate, although it is difficult to compete with Japaneiro’s sushi chefs. Overall I left with a positive impression and that justifies the three stars. My visit today however, was a different story. I had an appointment at the business two doors down, so I thought I would go to Akashi, place a take-out order for dinner, go to my appointment and then return for my food. The lady who waited on me at the register said that they don’t hold orders and turned my business away. Politely, but she definitely refused me service. I understand sushi places don’t hold orders for obvious reasons, but I was going to drop $ 50+ on their Chinese menu, not sushi. I had no desire to sit there and wait on a take out order, and placing an order for Chinese food ahead of time isn’t unreasonable, so I left there pretty flabbergasted. I’m no restaurateur, but I’m pretty sure turning away a paying customer who lives in the area and would return often is not good for business. It’s all the same to me however, there is no shortage of good sushi in Sugarland.

The general Tso’s chicken was pretty good. Right amount of sweetness and spice. The shrimp fried was ok but a bit bland. Mixing the fried rice with the general Tso’s sauce helped out a lot. The restaurant has a nice look and friendly/helpful wait staff. My only minor gripe is the lame music but that’s just nitpicking. I look forward to trying out the rest of the menu.

First time to this location. This one is new to the Sienna /Mo. City area. maybe less than 2 years old. This fusion establishment offers Chinese, Japanese and sushi dishes. Enough to please any palate! We started with the edamame which I thought could’ve been steamed longer. We tried the Dragon & Phoenix and Spicy & Tangy chicken family dinner. Dragon & Phoenix was great but the Spicy & tangy chicken tastes like garlic chicken w/chili sauce. I know my spicy & tangy sauce and this one didn’t hit the mark. I won’t judge them on this alone. The family dinner comes with your choice of soup and all of the appetizers listed, including fantail shrimp, egg roll and crab puff. Those were all delicious. Can’t wait to try their other appetizers, especially the PuPu platter. I intend to return to try more dishes and the different fusion rolls they offer. I’m also excited to pick up some items to go one day I don’t feel like cooking!

Service is kinda slow, but really friendly. The one thing I loved was the rice was warm with the nigiri, so I knew it was fresh. However the fish wasn’t that fresh, so over priced to me for quality. The spicy scallops were not my favorite, it was over powered by mayo. Sashimi quality was okay, could get better at other places for their prices. You can taste the tuna was not fresh at all. The cooked rolls were good, still crispy and not soggy. When drizzled with their sauces, it wasn’t drenched with sauce so you weren’t just eating sauce which is really good. Would probably only go back for convenience, but totally overpriced for quality.

My experience with sushi: HEB and the Chinese buffet. I claimed ignorance with our server and asked her to recommend something. She picked the lunch special with Philadelphia roll and Snow crab roll. Delicious!!! My wife got general chicken and it was very good as well. The miso soup and wonton soup were tasty and the salad that came with mine had a dressing that gave a hint of peanut butter. We will be back, I hear the signature rolls are really good. Great atmosphere. Worth a try if you like sushi.

I am very impressed with this restaurant. The interior of the space was very nice and clean. The staff was very nice. We ordered the family dinner and tried the Mongolian Beef and Orange Chicken. The food was delicious. We didn’t love the hot and sour or Wonton soup, but it was good. We did love the egg roll. The second time we went, we ordered the chicken fried rice, and the pork fried dumplings. That food was delicious. We will definitely be back. This is a Sienna gem.

Yayyyyy for a new Japanese/Chinese restaurant in the Sienna area! It’s conveniently located near the Sienna HEB off of highway 6. Akashi has only been open for a month, it’s new, clean, and a just a great place for meals with family and friends. I’m pretty sure the owner is Chinese, what with the many Chinese dishes on their menu, and Chinese speaking bilingual waiters. Their lunch menu is available M-F 11 – 3, has 4 categories — Chinese lunch special, Bento box, Rolls and Sushi fusion. Prices are $ 7 – 11 ish, very reasonable for lunch. I tried the bento box while hubby got pork with garlic sauce. Bento box comes with a meat, miso soup, California roll and green salad, for $ 8.50. Lunch rolls menu comes with choice of any 2 rolls and miso soup and salad for $ 10.50. Service was good, booth was comfy for the kids and food was fresh and yummy. We got what we expected with their price and menu items, satisfies customers and we will be back to try other dishes!

The noise !!! The music is terrible and kids at each table. Other than that the food is good. The sesame chicken was more sweet and sour than anything, where I like a browner sauce but the crab puffs were the best ever! We would go back but I hope they do away with the music. It is anything but relaxing.

Salmon came out still frozen in the middle. Mackerel was alright. A total of 15 for a small amount of bad quality frozen sashimi?

I was really excited to try the sushi here, but it did not meet my expectations. The environment was very nice, spacious, new, and modern. The bar area looks stylish. The menu, soy sauce bottle, and napkin looks fancy. The menu looked pleasing and offer a variety of Chinese dishes and Sushi. I ordered the charashi and the spicy scallops nigiri, but it was not that appealing in looks and taste. The fish wasn’t that fresh in my opinion. The salmon was the best I think, but even it’s not the greatest. They were also stingy with just one shrimp piece when they offer at least a pair for the other fishes. The red snapper was especially a disappointment — it was not smooth in texture, and I even see some skin still on it. The spicy scallops nigiri was tasty after the first bite, but lost appeal after that. My water was also not refilled until I asked for it at the end of my meal. It also took the waiter a long time to get my check and give my credit card back. I would still want to give this another chance because it’s a beautiful restaurant, and I think the fusion sushi rolls would fare better but I would not be jumping to order just the raw fish/sashimi/charashi next time.

For the price, the location and the taste of the food… it is excellent! Very friendly staff, the lunch and dinner special is awesome and the ambiance is very nice. This is a gem in Sienna and I sure hope the area supports it… because this is one of the few solid places around here!

Very fast service, wait staff very attentive. Our food came out very fast, didn’t allow much time for the normal chit chat in between courses. That was great since our kids dined with us, but I would prefer a little slower for a dinner service. Sushi was fresh and very good. Sweet & Sour chicken was a 5 for my 6 yr old who also loved their wonton soup and sushi. Great portion sizes and presentation on all the plates.

I came on a Sunday lunch after church service to kill sometime. I had casually stumbled upon this new sushi place. Walking in, I immediately noticed the nice décor and atmosphere they had put on. As I was only in need of a table of one, the hostess seated me at the bar where you can watch the Texans game conveniently. The sushi menu was pretty straightforward, with a selection of rolls, sashimi and sushi. You can also order entrees of noodles or bento boxes. I also noticed that there was a selection of chinese food in the beginning of the menu. How odd. I suppose having a chinese menu and a japanese menu together is considered«Fushion Asian Cuisine». In hindsight, how appropriate. I elected to order the Sushi combo A and came quickly, nicely decorated and very fresh tasting and yummy. Only gripe is that pretty much any entrée is over $ 10. I suppose thats why its $$ I wish they had a happy hour menu as I did not see any, I may be wrong. Overall, I had an easy and casual time at Akashi. Will visit again if im in the neighborhood.

So excited that Akashi opened up in Missouri City! There really was no sushi/chinese option nearby until now! My parents, boyfriend and I went in on Friday night around 5pm — it was early so only a few tables were full. The inside is beautiful and there are a few large screen televisions set up around the bar. Our server was attentive and although he didn’t explain the menu to us newbies, we all found something we liked. The menu is AWESOME — they have everything from traditional chinese dishes to fresh sushi rolls. I enjoyed the chinese dinner which was only $ 12.95 and included soup, an appetizer, and General Tso’s chicken with fried rice. Because the menu is so large, I can’t wait to get back and see what else is delicious! Definitely check this place out :) I really hope they make it!

This is the only place that I go for sushi. They have variety sushi choices and chef specials. Their chinese food are not low standard quality that you eat at other asian restuarants. Clean atmopshere, great service, delicious food makes this place a «5 Star» restaurant. Please ignore any bad reviews because I am a regular here! Best Sushi Place Ever, Trust me !!

Just left the location in Missouri City and the manager/owner is HORRIBLE!!! After our server finally came, he began to take our order. The manager comes over and says something to him and then our server walks off. I ask the manager what was the problem and he said«if you don’t want to eat here I don’t care!» Well guess what, neither do I. You will NEVER have the pleasure of seeing me on there again!!! If the owner reads this, please reach out as I am sending negative reviews everywhere. You have not been open long enough to be cocky!!!

Very welcoming atmosphere. The food was fantastic and no more than a 10 minute wait. The staff was attentive and professional. The restaurant was also very clean.
