Incredible view of the Clark Fork River. The atmosphere was great and the restaurant was clean. Our entrees were great. I had the special which was a sirloin and scallops. It was a great value for the quality of the food. The service was excellent and overall I felt the prices were very reasonable.

Bad food prepackaged more Sysco garbage. No imagination, prices double what they are for breakfast anywhere else. You can get a $ 4 steak for dinner and pay $ 40 for it if you like or you can just eat somewhere else. If you’re staying at the hotel and snowed in and have no car and are really really really hungry this is a good place to eat other than that try someplace else.

Had a light dinner. My wife had the clam chowder which she deemed wonderful. I had the Caesar salad which was awful. I asked for extra anchovies without which the salad would have been without any flavor. The croutons were merely cubes of stale bread with no flavor. The dressing was, at best, insipid. By the way, friends agree I make the best Caesar salad in the West. Also, the noise level was staggering!

This is the 3rd time I have eaten at this establishment. The first time I had pneumonia, so that could explain why it was good that visit… Today I ordered the Kobe bacon burger. What a joke! It was an overlooked frozen burger patty(that tasted like freezer burned grocery store hamburger patties). The garlic aioli tasted a bit like acid reflux. The last time I was here I ordered the most expensive steak on the menu… and proceeded to throw it up. I thought maybe it was just one trip, but nope. I give up. The service was just plain bad as well. Will not return to this restaurant and will be staying at a different hotel when I travel here. Bummer, they do make a decent drink.

The food was awful. Server was pretty good and the view was nice. The food was just awful though. Pizza sucked, bison burger was really bad. The place was fine with the exception of the kitchen. Save yourself the money and go somewhere else.

Nice view. The filet wasn’t tender enough to serve w/o a steak knife and although rare to medium rare was almost cold — and that was the seared surface. The bacon wrapped prawns were a bit over cooked and bland — not much bacon or prawn flavor in there. Makes me wonder when my meal was made and how much effort they made to reheat it. The mashed potatoes were over salted. I have no idea what happened to the martini. However, the drunken mushrooms were very good.

I am staying at the Doubletree and was not expecting such a great restaurant in a hotel. I travel a lot and never eat more than once or twice in the hotel restaurant, but I am making an exception this week. I have eaten three meals a day and every meal I have had, has been exceptional. I planned to check out other places in Missoula, but don’t know if I will. There are still some other items on the menu I want to try. The food is interesting, tasteful, and healthy. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a wonderful view of the river as well out of large windows. Very pleasant.

I’ve been here twice in the last 2 months. At first it seems ok, but upon closer look, this place is filthy. Both times we had great tables right next to a window overlooking the river, but today I had to stare at giant blotches of bird poop on the windows. When I looked around at the carpet, it was gross – didn’t look like it had been vacuumed in days. Then I made the mistake of looking down at the window sill and I about barfed – dirt, chunks of dried up food and dead flies(yes, more than one). Then as we were leaving, the table next to us had complained about something and the Manager on Duty, the morning head chef, came out of the kitchen. His white chef’s coat was disgusting, it was stained black with holes in it and it looked like it hadn’t been washed in weeks. While our food tasted just ok, I now second guess what we may have ate. If the head chef is a slob, I can only imagine how dirty the kitchen must be. It’s too bad because this is a great location, but until they do a massive deep cleaning and up their cleanliness standards, we won’t be back.

The food was great and the view was amazing. I had a cucumber and chilli margarita that was to die for I will be back.

Had a very undercooked burger with undercooked bacon. Made some really expensive nasty mixed drinks. We had two breakfasts that came with our room and they undercooked the scrambled eggs as well and had cold sausage. Not worth the money they charge for meals.

Very classy restaurant, great view of river and University, terrific service and approx. $ 15/person breakfast including drinks so not a bad deal for the quality. Also very nice selection of traditional breakfast items. We had eggs benedict w/hashbrowns, corned beef hash with fried eggs, and french toast plus drinks. I would rate this a 5 if there was anything innovative on the menu but I really have no complaints at all.

great place! great customer service. I called the restaurant one night and asked for something that wasn’t on the menu for breakfast. The general manger answered the phone and told me to tell the server to make me steak and eggs with the small steak they had on the dinner menu. Even that it wasn’t on the breakfast menu. I forget his name but he said he has a policy to always say yes to their guests and not say no. He was right when I went to breakfast the next morning the server helped me out with a non menu item. Nice to see there’s still some great customer service in the restaurant industry still. Plus it’s got a awesome view of the river as well.

Ordered the eggs Benedict. Unfortunately this was the worst eggs Benedict I’ve ever had. My first egg was undercooked with the clear wiggly bits. The English muffin was untoasted and had a bitter taste. Now the hash browns were totally white and looked like they had never touched a griddle. Totally uncooked. The coffee was bad as well. Not to be too negative, the view was nice!

Best view in Missoula, breakfasts are some of the better options in town. Friendly staff.

Not my favorite place to eat. Service excellent no complaints. However the prime rib was lacking you have to pay extra on top of the already 40 $ they charge for anything to come with it.

Finn and Porter is a great stop in Missoula, especially for business travelers. I always stay at the DoubleTree when I’m in town. Usually I like to get out of the hotel and explore the local cuisine. But F&P should definitely be added to your list of places to go. I had the honey glazed trout over quinoa risotto. I had absolutely no complaints. It was a great meal. The dish even convinced me Brussels sprouts could be made tasty(I generally hate them). I applaud any restaurant that changes my mind about a food I generally dislike. I’ll definitely go again next time I’m in town!

Went for happy hour. The drinks were a decent price. Highly recommend the Boomtown Syrah. Can’t beat the view overlooking the river. The food was pretty average for the price, as were the cocktails. I ordered some raw oysters with significant trepidation and surprisingly, not bad at all. Apparently they come from Seattle. *Bottom line: I might go for happy hour for the drinks and the view, but I wouldn’t eat there again.

There is only one time to go to Finn and Porter and that is happy hour(M-F, 4 – 6 pm). I can feel fancy without paying their typical«fancy» prices! The antipasto is $ 2 per item, very simple and delicious. I usually get a couple of cheeses, roasted red peppers, kalamata olives or sundried tomatoes. The house pizza is also $ 1 off per slice. Happy hour is certainly a place to see and be seen, most days it’s packed! It’s nice to sit at the back tables where you have a good view of the river and sun streams through the windows, so even in the winter you can feel warm. I have not tried out the normal lunch or dinner menu but from 4 – 6 this is Missoula’s gathering place!

Stayed at the Double Tree for a business trip. Had breakfast here. It’s like any other restaurant in a hotel, price is a little high and the food was alright. Ordered the corn beef hash. It wasn’t bad. It was my first time eating it so I can’t really compare it with other corn beef hash. So I guess it was, alright? The view of the river was nice. Patio seating is available. The waitress didn’t charge for the OJ, or my colleagues coke. So I guess nothing to complain about. I guess if I stayed here I eat here again.

I ate here several times on my last trip. Usually I try to skip eating at the hotel, but the weather wasn’t great and I decided that since I hadn’t driven in snow in a few years I shouldn’t try searching for a place to eat in an unfamiliar town while getting used to driving in snow again. So, Finn & Porter it was for two breakfasts, a lunch, and a dinner. Breakfast: An omelette with hash browns, toast, and a cup of hot tea came out to nearly $ 20. At that price, it shouldn’t come out of the kitchen lukewarm, but the first day it did. Lunch was late enough to qualify for the happy hour menu. There’s dollar slices of pizza, cheap oysters, and antipasto on special. I know better than to order oysters in Montana(I live close enough to the gulf coast to get the good stuff at home) but the pizza is pretty good if you get it right after they take it out of the oven. If you end up getting the last few slices before they make a new one, it’s going to be, once again, lukewarm. Dinner caught the last few minutes of happy hour again, and I lucked into some somewhat warm slices of pizza. By the time I finished those, the pizza was out and happy hour over, so I opted for French Onion Soup. Usually under that broiled cheese comes soup that will scald you. Don’t worry, it’s… lukewarm here. At least with happy hour pricing on the food, my lunch and dinner came out to be cheaper than breakfast so I could stay within my per diem rules. Service is hit or miss. I encountered students on duty who gave their fellow students plenty of attention and virtually ignored my presence. It made me feel old. I don’t like feeling old. The older servers paid a little more attention to me. Thankfully, I did see more of Missoula than Finn & Porter, so I know the town isn’t this mediocre.
