I’m in this area quite often and have been sort of wanting to try Flippin’ Pizza ever since I’ve heard of it. It’s hard to please me with good pizza, though, so that was why I was scared to try it. I’m glad I was able to last night, so now I know how it’s like. The pizza is New York style, so it is VERY thin. There aren’t as much toppings on there as a normal pizza, just because it’s so thin and can’t handle as much toppings. We got a slice of the Buffalo Chicken and a slice of the Artichoke. We wanted the Tomato Basil because that looked the best out of the others, but they ran out before we got to the front and got to order. Since they were so busy, we ended up getting the bartender to take our order instead. We put in the order for the Whitestone and the Buffalo Chicken. After we did, we found out they ran out of Whitestone. So we were out of luck. She recommended the Artichoke, and since we would have to wait longer for the others, we ended up getting that. It took at least 15 – 20 minutes to get the 2 slices. It was really hot and the bottom was crunchy. The Artichoke was good, different, but I expected more. The Buffalo Chicken was definitely spicy, but I think that was the best part of it. We ended up ordering the calzone because the pizzas we ordered hadn’t come out yet and we figured it wouldn’t be that long of a wait to get it when the pizzas come out. Well, we ended up waiting for 40 minutes. So we ended up watching most of the last half of the Clippers game before we were able to eat our dinner. We weren’t even planning to eat dinner there, it was supposed to be an appetizer for us. The calzone? It was definitely better than the pizzas, that’s for sure. We got the NY Filly, but substituted the sausage for Buffalo chicken instead. The flavors were really good, I enjoyed that. It’s a little pricey in my opinion. The calzone was $ 12, but since I substituted the sausage, it came out to $ 14 without tax instead. 2 slices of pizza(no drink) was $ 3.25 each. So a little over $ 20 and we weren’t as full as we could have been at other places. The wait was sooo long, though, especially when we didn’t order full pizzas. They were really packed, and filled with deliveries. There’s plenty of parking here, though, since it’s in the same plaza as Sprouts and a bunch of other places. Overall, I’m a little hesitate on this place. The calzone definitely made it a more enjoyable dinner, so that’s a plus. The pizzas, although pretty good, I’m not sure if I’m a fan? Or maybe it’s just New York style that I’m not a fan of? Either way, I’d recommend trying a calzone here instead of the pizza. One of the men there(might have been the owner) said that the lunch people always gets the calzone instead, and prefers that over the pizza. I definitely agree to that! I’m not sure if or when I’ll be back, but if I do come back, it’ll be for the calzone, that’s for sure!

Was in the area and looking for a good pizza place. Stumbled upon this place and was so happy! Such great service, and Lindsey made my experience there a pleasure! Food was good and I highly recommend the garlic knots.

My go to spot for ny style pizza out here in the south oc! If I had to measure it against other local spots, it would be 1. Flippin 2. Ballpark 3. Terra Mia(which is a little bit a ways on Alicia in Laguna Hills) skip the franchise places, also not too fond of a 5 Star location in Foothill; pizzas were kind of small. I’m a meat guy and go for the Bronx and my wife loves the white stone! Order ahead like at least 30 minutes, or if you have time grab some of there awesome brew and dine in!

Came across this place today while making a U-turn in the parking lot. I’m soooo glad I decided to check and see if they had pizza by the slice since I was running errands. Anyway, yes they have it by the slice but I’m telling you, you’re gonna wish you ordered a whole pizza! I chose 2 different slices(pepperoni and pesto) and 1 pepperoni knot. I was going to eat while driving but decided to just eat at the table. It was about 3 pm and only 4 customers were eating so service was super quick. The manager was really helpful and nice, I’ve never been there before and lots of choices. Everything looked clean and organized with modern NY looking décor. They gave my daughter a dough ball to play with while we waited for the slices to get heated up.(a whopping 5 min) My daughter loved the knot until she tasted my pizza and freaked out on how good it was. Both flavors were outstanding! The manager(I wish I got his name) promised that I would not want Pizza Hut ever again. He was right! I’m also gonna add Costco, Peppinos, and Dominos to the list cuz YES, it was that good. After we finished and played a little with the dough ball, I decided to try one more flavor(Artichoke) and honestly, although it was delish, I like the first two better. I have my eye on the basil/tomato one next visit. Thanx for the great service and best Pizza, we’ll be back. I forgot to mention while talking to the manager, he sponsors groups for fundraisers, I’m not sure a whole school night type of fundraiser would work but the location can hold a team or two. Barbara

Delicious New York style pizza. The pepperoni rolls and garlic bites are yummy too. The Buffalo chicken pizza seems to be my favorite. It’s great to have a beer while you wait for your take out order. Friendly staff and very clean establishment. Best pizza in Mission Viejo.

This is such an unfortunate review. My parents raved about this place and the pizza. Tonight, I joined my parents for dinner at a place they loved. We went to order, there was only one employee making pizza’s, another on break(no problem) and the bartender. The bartender took our order of garlic knots and an 18″ tomato basil pizza to dine in. The bartender said the pizza would be out in about 20 minutes and the garlic knots would be out in 5! Great! 20 minutes goes by, no garlic knots or pizza. About 5 minutes later there is an take out order being called out for garlic knots and a pizza by my father’s first name. They see my dad and realize he’s the one who ordered and brought it boxed up to our table and only for us to tell them we had ordered to dine in. They take the pizza back, place it on a tray, let it sit for about 5 more minutes and then brought it back to us but no sign of garlic knots, huh. Another 5 minutes later, we received reheated garlic knots to go along with our lukewarm pizza. The knots were great but my parents happened to get them for free because they had previously paid for a scratcher at their last visit. After getting past the basically cold pizza, it was okay but not great — crust was burnt and too crisp. Floors were disgusting, tables had obviously not been wiped down in between customers. When we first sat down, we had asked for our table to be wiped down and no one came. I got up, asked a second time for the table to be wiped down and nothing. We finally had our table wiped down when they brought the pizza after asking 3 times and waiting 25+ minutes. Our main problem with this place was the poor and lazy customer service. The main issue any of us walked away with would be the female employee who was bartending. She had friends in and was paying more attention to them then her paying customers. When the other employee had called my father’s name for the«to go» order and took our food back and watched it sit for 5 minutes, my mother had gone up to ask for our pizza and the bartender had said to my mom that there was another order for Ed with a pizza and garlic knots, when we had watch them unbox the pizza. She was disrespectful and uncaring for the paying customers. If this was my business, I would not want someone like her representing my hard work. So sad, not sure I’ll be returning.

I’m a pizza lover. I know a good pizza when I see(or taste) one. Pizza is pizza and any pizza is good to me. But I have to say that this place was a game changer for sure!!! Came here on whim on Black Friday while waiting for my bro to pick up his deal at GameStop next door… and wow. best decision I’ve made that day. Upon the first bite you can tell that the ingredients are high quality… from the dough to the sauce to the cheese. It’s NY style so the dough is thin and crispy. The pesto pizza was my fav and I really liked that they used real olive oil. You can order a slice(~$ 3) or and entire pizza($ 18 – 20) and yeah it’s not super cheap and you could prob get twice as much ordering from Costco but quality is what you get here and it’s sooo so clear once you take that first bite. Gourmet pizza if you will. Beyond that the service was amazing as well. Very friendly workers greeting you in and out and making sure everything is 100%. Will definitely be coming back!

First time ordering from here tonight. Two calzones. We got the Ny Phillie and one with pepperoni and mushroom then split them. Both delicious. I wish I would’ve stayed for a beer but we were both in our Halloween costumes and wanted to get home. Next night we have without our kiddos were heading there for some beer and pizza! The people seemed rad and the shop is awesome as well! They’re doing it right. :)

Fabulous pizza! We come here with our toddlers after music class and we love this place for both the food and service. The pizza is so fresh, flavorful, and perfect. They’ll even cut up a slice for my toddler and keep it cooler for her by not super heating it. My friend loved her calzone. Best of all, they are super kid friendly.

Had my first encounter with Flippin’ Pizza last evening! The three of us were greeted warmly by the bartender when we entered! THENWEMETLINDSEY! Lindsey is a «public relations» goddess! She, figureatively, embraced us and made us immediately feel«part of their family»! She recommended items, shared her opinion on our beer questions but thoughtfully deferred more specific information regarding their beers to the bartender, who was delightful! LINDSEY knew everything about the company’s mission, menu, products and services! She gracefully segued into a Flippin’ Pizza fundraiser for the Boys & Girls club which we could not resist participating in because of her presentation! She’s very cool, and a very important top-tier component of this very fun ambiance venue! Sure hope she is revered by the restaurant’s owners and their management team! By the way, it was busy but not packed and the restaurant’s team, without exception, excelled on social graces and enthusiasm! The restaurant’s large tall-ceiling dining area was well-lit, not too bright, smelled heavenly of pizza dough and other aromatic smells, i.e., spices, etc and it was fun and interesting that the kitchen area was open for all to observe the«goings-on»! Loved the big booths, tall tables along with their foot rests along with the comfortable higher chairs! I close with the declarative statement that their pizza was elegant, delicious and gourmet and very inexpensive! Great selection of beers! I went in to have a slice of pizza and a beer and we all ended up having three(different kinds) slices and several beers! It was a delightful touch that they allowed my granddaughter to have a little plate of her own dough and flours to roll and manipulate, too!!!

This place has gone downhill. The food quality is poor and the staff is not the same when they first opened. There is no sense of urgency here and the place is a wreck. I’m not sure what happened but you need to bring back the rock stars who opened the place. The store is filthy and the wait times are horrendous. There’s never any pizza slices ready and the selection is limited. This place is a waste of time now and can use a good scrubbing.

I really want to love this place but there are so many things that need improvement here. I’ll start with the pizza. 9 time out of 10 times the crust is burned, probably because it looks like the pizza has been reheated 2 – 3 times before I get it. The salads are pretty good for the price… when they remember to serve it to me. The last 3 times I’ve been there the pizza comes out and I always have to ask«Did you remember I ordered a salad?». I’m used to this by now but it’s just really annoying. The beer selection is pretty decent here with the usuals(IPA, Seasonal brews, Wheats, Amber, etc). But similar to the salad order, it’s an afterthought. I always need to remind them that I ordered a beer and then I wait 10 minutes before I get it. They sell beer by the pint or bottle but it’s not cheap. I paid $ 8 for a pint of Karl Strauss Oktoberfest. Highway robbery! The last time I paid $ 8 for a pint there was entertainment included. Overall this place has the potential to be pretty good but they need better management. In fact, it’s just a bunch of kids in there working with not manager. It seems like they never have enough employees working there and the ones they do have are trying to do everything. For instance, the person taking my order at the register last night was the one that took my money, put some pies in the over, was flipping dough, making salad, poured my beer, and delivered my food… all while other customers were waiting in line to get served. One person is trying to do everything but does nothing well. The bottom line is that the service here is really poor.

Had lunch here with a group and it worked great. We ordered 2 large pizzas, different toppings and some slices too, so everyone got what they wanted. The long tables work great for groups or social individuals who have a change to start a conversation with other like minded individuals(they love pizza too, right?) But they have a bar area with beers on tap so this works for dinner time too, this seems to be a trend lately, where you see a soda fountain and beers on tap in the same place. Their pizza and sodas are more on the natural side and have no artificial stuff which is great, chap pizza dough you get at most places is one of the worst things you can eat these days. The place setup seemed to me like«California style NY pizza joint» cozy and comfortable. The«real dough» feel when you chew the pizza reminds me of childhood taste of home cooked pizza rather of the fast raise, fast bake dough everyone uses now.

I really love the pizza here. I feel like I am really picky with pizza… and it is hard for me to find a pizza place I LOVE. The pizza here, for me, is perfect. Just enough, but not too much crust, not too much red sauce… so much flavor… And the garlic powder they have on the tables? AMAZING. I add it to the pizza and the salad. The family salad is really good, and great to share. I wasnt a big fan of the garlic knots… there was a lot of butter and it was just hard to eat them, and they werent very garlicky. But the pizza… yes please. I love going in with a friend, getting a slice and splitting the family salad. Mmmmm. Now I have a craving and need to go back ASAP!

My friends were talking about Flippin’ Pizza during our Friday dinner. Cool. Sure I love NY style pizza. Later that night after drinking at Cismontane Brewery we got hungry. Turns out Flippin’ Pizza closes at 10 pm, which is a respectable time in Mission Viejo. Lights out tends to be toward 9 pm in that city. I went for the 2 slices and a drink special for $ 6.50. It’s hard to beat that. I also got a pint of Red Trolley because why not? I pointed at a pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms. That was really tasty. I also got a mozzarella one, but it could have used a few pieces of meat on it. There’s a large bar to get some brews, a huge community table in the middle and large booths on the side of the restaurant. Flippin’ Pizza is solid. I’ll be back for another late night snack.
