Chronic unfortunately was a disappointment. Their carne Asada tacos had a lot of grissle and fat. They need to upgrade the quality of their beef. Had to return carne taco for chicken again chicken was not the best cut. They are not cheap but would be worth the money if they invest more in upgrading their meat.

I have been to chronic tacos in Laguna and in Cerritos which were both pretty good. The first time I came here they were out of the bread for the tortas. Second time I come here they were out of chicken. They had torta bread this time though. Haha so I ordered a carne asada torta. The gentleman who helped us was very friendly. He was however, a little skimpy on the portions while making the torta. I got the food to go and went home to eat it. The meat was fattie which absolutely ruined it for me! Can’t say that I’ll be coming back to this location again. Two stars only bc the gentleman at the counter was nice.

I don’t get all the 1 stars. My grilled fish burrito was AWESOME! Lots of flavor, and the fish alone had tasty spices. First time I had french fries in my burrito, which I thought was weird, but my fiancé said putting potatoes in a breakfast burrito tastes good, so why are fries different? Made sense to me, and I love fries, so I went with it. :-) Not sure the fries made any more difference, but I’ll be coming back here soon. The service was great, too. The two guys behind the counter were very friendly and very welcoming. I do agree that $ 8 for a burrito is a bit much… but it filled me up.

Wow. I can honestly say that I have never ate food so bad. I got the cheese enchilada + carne asada taco. The enchilada tasted like it had marinara sauce on it instead of enchilada sauce. No taste. bland. soggy, just GROSS. The shredded cheese inside and outside was not even melted. one gross mess. The taco was all fatty pieces of steak. Chewy, overdone on soggy bread. I took a few bites of each and threw the whole thing away. Waste of $ 12.00 I would honestly prefer food from Del Taco, Taco Bell, or even the two tacos for .99 cents at Jack In The Box. Honestly there was nothing good about the meal here. On another note, the soda tasted better than the soda at other places. I have no idea why. lol

The food is always cold and too expensive. We liked it better before with the old owners.

Man, I love Chronic Tacos! The vegetarian burrito is huge, filling and just tastes really fresh! My boyfriend loves the soft tacos and tortas. They have one of those customized drink machine computers– you can choose to add grape flavor to Sprite or mix seven different things together. Fun! The guys working behind the counter are pleasant and cool– how refreshing! Funny signs up on the counter. Love the outdoor tables at this location! They always have coupons out in the mail, too– What an unbeatable combination!

I’m a Mexican food lover and Chronic Tacos is one of those small, Americanized chains that plenty of surfheads and high school teens will swear by. I’d say the food is a step above Baja Fresh but definitely nowhere near an «authentic» experience. The staff at the Mission Viejo location is particularly helpful and polite(probably due to new management) though I’m a bit suspicious of any Mexican walk-in that doesn’t allow self-serving for salsa(you have to request little cups of it from behind the counter and sneeze guards). The sauces are passable but you’ll be better off buying from nearby Alberto’s or up the freeway to Albatross. But if you’re spending time at Starbucks next door and want a quick bite to eat without driving anywhere, you can get a full stomach here. It just won’t be anything special. This is the kind of restaurant that appeals to a typical OC crowd because it’s clean and satisfies the urge to be able to say«I like Mexican food». But just because you have tortillas, pico de gallo and salsa doesn’t mean you’re actually serving MEXICANFOOD. Try King Taco or El Taurino if you want to know what you’ve been missing out on.

I work next door, and I love this place! The tacos are great quality and the manager and staff are friendly and take care of you. There’s even big screen TV’s with ESPN on. Great place to come and enjoy a beer battered shrimp taco and cheese nachos and a large Orange Bang for lunch!

NOTCLOSED! Ate there on 2÷3÷12. Love the Al Pastor at chronic but was disappointed that they were out at lunch time! Enjoyed my carne asada dishes though. Staff was very friendly.

This place has reopened under new management. Thank goodness because the people working there before were terrible! The food is alright but VERY overpriced. I got a breakfast quesadilla for like 4 bucks one day which isn’t too bad(for a bland eggs and cheese) but the next day I got a burrito and it cost me $ 8… I think he just arbitrarily typed in numbers into the machine because that’s pretty ridiculous! I’ll never come back here again… I’d rather starve.

Contrary to the closed listing on Unilocal, this location is open. The storefront has an «Under New Management» sign. I had been wanting to try this place for a while and finally tried it. It is a clean, casual place. The food is average. I tried the Carne Asada fatty taco. It lives up to its name, they put a lot of carne asada into the taco. Even with guacamole and salsa, the taco lacked flavor and I was not impressed with the meat. They don’t charge extra for the guacamole. According to my husband, the fish burrito is very filling. He thought it tasted alright.

Open again under new management! Everyone is super friendly and the food is just as good as before, if not better. I got two tacos: one pollo asado and one carne asada. They are not stingy with the toppings or the meat. Glad to have them back!

Trying a little to hard to be a little too cool. If you want Mexican food, go to a Mexican hole in the wall. If you want fake Mexican food, go to Taco bell, Rubios, Baja Fresh. There’s just no room for this inbetween mediocricy

Maybe it was just a bad/extraordinary Saturday to be there but the food was meh. I got a carne asada burrito and it was drier than expected, even with the extra salsa added into it. While it tasted good, I was hoping for more. I’ll stick with Chipotle in the meanwhile.

Today I decided to try Chronic Tacos. Maybe watch Jackass 3 last night kinda influenced me to give them a shot, I don’t know. I had their $ 5 combo 2 Carne Asada street tacos with a side of Spanish rice and refried beans. The tacos were pretty good! The rice was a little on the dry/hard side and the refried beans were ok. The tacos reminded me of the ones you get at Del Taco but a lot less greasy. Also they tasted a lot more like street tacos. Will I go back? Yea… probably. It’s nothing amazing but it was good.

I have been here a few times and gotten the fried shrimp each time. They fry them to order, so it takes some time. I like the ability to choose between pinto or black beans and cilantro lime or Spanish rice. The bowls and the fatty tacos are my favorite. This place isn’t really a Mexican restaurant — more like a greasy, comfort food taco stand. The staff is always a little strange, but they’re fine. I’m surprised by the poor reviews? Seems okay to me — not great or awful, but good.

2.5 stars rounded up. As far as Mexican places go its okay. I’ve been here more that a handful of times and I can say that its pretty average. The food isn’t horrible but its not great either. I can’t say much about anything except their burritos, since that’s all I ever get. The burritos are HUGE and more log/ball shaped than burrito shaped. You can put anything in them so that’s pretty cool. I’ll have to say that I’m pretty disappointed with guac this place has. Its pretty terrible. I can’t quite pinpoint what’s wrong with it but it just doesn’t taste right. I want to say it tasted tart and metallic like. I don’y know, its just off. I’ve been to a few different ones and the guac is always bad. I don’t bother getting it anymore, and I LOVE my guac. Also, their Al Pastor is sub par. Just had it today and it was way off. There’s was to much onion in it and the spice is off. If you want good value for your buck get a burrito, you can load it with anything you want. Their carnitas are pretty good compared to the other meat. Even better go for their breakfast burritos, those are good.

Wow! There is nothing chronic about Chronic Tacos. In fact, I want them to change their name to the exact opposite of chronic: Acute Tacos. I have no desire to come back here. They have a quantity over quality motto. «Maybe if we pile on the meat they won’t notice how flavorless these tacos really are.» 10 bucks for my meal! I can’t believe I paid for this.

Puff Puff Pass on Chronic tacos. I had lunch here and got two carne asada tacos and a soda. It was eight bucks which seemed a little pricey for me. The only thing i liked about my tacos were the corn tortillas and then I realized they were the same ones I buy at the store. The guy who assembled my taco asked me if I wanted lime on my taco. Sir, the carne asada was so bland tasting, it needed more than the squirt of lime you put on my tacos. There are some good things about Chronic Taco. They do put a decent amount of meat on the tacos. They are like 3 bucks a taco so it there should be plenty of meat. I also was glad they did not charge me to put guacamole on my taco like other places do.
