Went in for late lunch on Sat. Service was fast but ordered bartender’s choice and steak was mediocre. Was thin and the garlic bread served with it was stale and old. Waitress said she had been there for 17 years and her and manager were having conversations and joking a little too loud for my taste. Waitress got exasperated with lady coming in for a drink when she kept asking the price of everything and complained to manager and manager finally took the lady’s order.

I love going to this place both for work lunches & for dinner. They have a lovely patio seating I’d like to try! We’ve had take-out and it was wonderful too! I usually get a half order of their famous onion rings & a salad. Pretty good salad selection & every time it’s been good. Try Doc Pierce’s! The décor inside is neat stained glass & wood bar seats! Awesome place that’s not expensive, good food, & neat atmosphere!

First and last time here. We went on a Monday afternoon, I ordered the Polynesian chicken breast over wild rice with a house salad. Everything was a waste of money. The marinade on the chicken was nasty so I sent it back. The waitress asked if it was because of the marinade, which tells me she knew it was no good. I ordered chicken tenders thinking no way they can mess that up– but I was wrong. It tastes like fish batter– exactly like Long John Silvers! Im not sure it was cooked thoroughly because it had white goo? on the crust. The salad was a joke– full of white iceberg lettuce and I found 2 shriveled grape tomatoes. Husband ordered the $ 4.99 cheeseburger special and they made it bloody instead of well done like he asked. So he sent that back and had to wait again… smdh

I had left a different review that was less than glowing. Then I was invited back to try this place out again. We, family of 3, went on a weekday night around 8:30. It wasn’t busy at all and we were seated immediately. We had a very friendly waitress who was quite prompt. We ordered the yummiest appetizer of cheesy fries. If you are ever in prison, order these for your last meal… They are that good. We ordered two burgers and haddock for dinner. Burgers were pretty good, not deluxe but not shabby either. Haddock was super yummy and may become a favorite. We preferred an alcoholic coffee drink as well that was expertly made… Not too strong, not weak… Perfect. Overall, solid food, good service, affordable, comfortable… I will definitely be back.

Just got in from this place. Tara, the waitress, was accommodating enough, though I asked for brown mustard and the fries well done, and got neither. This sounds weird, ’cause I just had to do a rewrite of another place, and I asked for the same thing there, did not get either there also. Guess waitstaff just don’t talk to the cooks anymore. Went here for my junior high prom, decades ago. was impressed then, was not now. $ 5.99 for a burger and fries is not at all bad, plus bacon on the burger, but it was not executed well. Burger was great, fries raw in middle, even though I asked to have them well done. Waitress said she’d be right back to see how our food was { a common serving must, I know, was a waiter for 10 years plus,), but, alas, she did not come back for over 10 minutes. By the time she came back to ask if it all was good, I was more than halfway done with it. Plus, there seemed to be some other waitresss’ kid in a booth that was running around the place. Love this place, but the quality was not up to my expectations. Will try it again. someday. $ 5,99 is a good price, but not for raw fries and forgotten sides,

This place is 70stastic in terms of décor. Fake tiffany lamps, dark wood and poor lighting. The really only passable part of my dinner was the french onion soup. I had the chicken pita… rubbery cheese, pita bread was barely chewable and there were virtually no seasonings. The wild rice tastes like it came from an Uncle Ben’s box. It only gets two points because our server was great.

Nice ambiance but my experience left quite a bit to be desired. First was sat at a bar booth(half table with a board on the other side) and told the tables had a 20 minute wait(this place had at least 10 open tables and they were never filled while we were there). Ordered the ‘famous onion rings’ which were cut into huge 1⁄3 onion size pieces and served with a heavy side of grease. The batter is exactly the same as the batter used on fish at long john silvers… if thats your thing, order them, but personally I’m not a fan of the intestinal destruction. My entre was a bacon cheeseburger that came without bacon. It was dry and flavorless and served on a bun anyone could by at a grocery store(stale, and the exact same you would buy in a standard 8 pack at the store). I ordered a house salad for a side and it consisted of bagged lettuce, bagged shredded cheese, hormel bacon bits, and two cherry tomatoes to try and trick me into thinking it wasn’t prepared by Dole Foods. NOW…my finance ordered the chicken pita. This was served with a mayonnaise covered plastic bar code from some prepackaged items. yum. Maybe some consider that a delicacy, but personally it doesn’t quite fit our american palate. I am somewhat new to this so a picture of this will be added to the review or overall review page of this restaurant. Personally I would give this a ‘two knees down’ review because I will be on them throwing up later.

Stood at the Hostess table for a good ten minutes, while the bar tender woman, about fifteen feet away talked to two, what seemed like friends, the whole time. I saw her look over a few times, but said nothing to me. No one ever acknowledged us for over ten minutes. We turned around and left. Sorry I can’t review the food here.

Doc Pierce’s is just a short walk away so we decided to order carry out. The service was prompt and courteous. The food however, was not what I was hoping! This is unfortunate since I was really hoping to LOVE our experience. Doc Pierce’s has been a staple in the Mishawaka area for a long time. I ordered the Chicken Pita. My husband got some sort of combo platter with chicken, steak, and fries. I got my daughters some shrimp, baked potato, and green beans. The chicken pita was dry and the bread was oily. It actually didn’t come on a pita… it came on a croissant. My husband loved the steak but the chicken was over cooked and tough. The baked potato was decent once butter and sour cream were added to the mix, but the skin was tough– like it had been sitting for a while. This could all be due to the fact that it was a to-go order so I’m definitely not writing the place off yet. Their menu seems to have plenty of other choices I look forward to trying. Plus, the patio looks SO fun. Can’t wait to return and give an updated review of my experience.

Ducked in for a snack the other day after hearing about it for ages. Place is vintage in the way of ‘hasnt been updated in decades’; it is not without its charm though. The tiny booths are worth sitting in just for the novelty(one sided booths? I kind of love it). On tap beer list was surprisingly tiny and bland, but then again the place has more a family feel than burger and beer joint feel. Some fun cocktails on the menu though. We stayed for some appetizers that were hot and fresh and tasty. If I worked in downtown Mishawaka, I’d probably be there often but if you’re in the general SB area there are lots of other options.

My family and I went here together on multiple occasions, it was amazing! Reading some of the other reviews we simply disagree… the food is cooked extremely well. Especially the seafood which my mom and I prefer, the fish is never overdone. Service is fantastic and even remembered us when we came back a few weeks later. The environment is really neat as well, a Mishawaka classic.

My girlfriend and I met here for lunch. I grabbed an outdoor table on a beautiful afternoon. She had the bacon cheeseburger, I had the teriyaki charbroiled chicken salad. Hers was lovely, my salad left a little to be desired. Essentially, it was a chicken breast sliced over iceberg lettuce with a few veggies. More or less, the salad was an afterthought. Service was good, but I need to come back and try something different.

Wife and I ate here this evening. Nothing stood out, hence the reason for the 2 stars. The ambiance was heightened because we ate outside on a gorgeous night. The food was overpriced for what you got. I ordered the shrimp special. The sauce overpowers the shrimp, which was disappointing because the shrimp was cooked well. My wife ordered the chicken/steak combo. She ordered her steak medium and it came medium well, not a deal breaker if the steak was delicious. It was underwhelming and not seasoned at all. Service was decent, as she was efficient and friendly, however not exceptional. We probably won’t go back.

Just awesome. My boyfriend and I are from out of town and stopped here to have some lunch and kill some time. He had the ribeye and I had the top sirloin. Both were cooked to perfection and very tasty. They have very good drink specials throughout the week(it’s not just beer!) Our server was very good and knowledgable about the dishes. I wish we lived closer or we would visit here often. So glad we stopped here!

Onion rings and grasshoppers are awesome! I love the chicken Morney. This place looks like It’s right out of Cheers. Outdated, but still a local staple.

Old and dated. Food is very subpar. They don’t really excel at anything. This would be place for older folks in the 50+ range. Not a young place by any means. I won’t eat here again unless I have to.

This restaurant has been my favorite in the South Bend area for over 30 years. Every time I return home to Indiana, I make it a point to go back to Doc’s. The service is great, and the food is amazing! The salad course is awesome(super yummy house-made croutons), bread fresh-baked and warm, and the«Doc’s Saloon» steak is out of this world. This is the ONLY steak I order when eating out(b/c nothing out ever really matches what my Dad could grill). The french onion soup is bubbly and delicious, and the strawberry milkshakes with real strawberries are amazing(though I rarely have room for one). Can’t wait for my next trip!

I’ve enjoyed eating here for years. Love the bartender’s steak and they have the biggest, juiciest fried shrimp in the area. I love the bread that comes with the meal. Just don’t eat too much of it. It’s hard to stop and still leave enough room for the main course. Park behind the building and use the back door.

Good food and pleasant service. Locally owned. The atmosphere is kind of dark and the building is kind of old. But the food, menu and service are pretty good. The Steak & Shrimp was very tasty. The ambiance is pleasant and relaxed. It’s a nice place to go for full service dining without a big price tag. The upper loft floor is great for private parties and big groups.

The onion rings will keep you coming back here. Great place for lunch or dinner. Interior is a bit dark, but the service is wonderful, and the prices are extremely reasonable. The lampshades and woodwork alone make this place a must-visit, and the food makes it worthwhile to stay.
